What's changed is the neighborhood... The central business district used to be well located for site seeing but pretty dead atmosphere wise. Just corporate buildings and workers. Quiet at night and silent on the weekends. Now, it's an amazing hub of activity with residents, coffee shops, restaurant, bars, shops and more plus the corporate buildings. The main drag, George Street, is now pedestrian only and relaxing to walk along. We look forward to returning again somehow, some way, in the future! We already agreed Mantra 2 on Bond Street will be our destination again! This was my first time to Australia so I knew nothing about the area but upon doing some research it looked like it was centrally located to many venues and the airport via public trans and also within walking distance. First off, I don't consider this hotel luxurious by any means, and I don't mean that in a bad way; however, it is very comfortable! I would compare it to a Marriott Residence Inn here in the US. It was very clean and spacious with amazing views! Staff was always very personable, friendly, efficient, and accommodating to our needs. Location is awesome because it is within walking distance to both the Museum Station and Town Hall train stations as well as several bus stations. As a matter of fact, we did do quite a bit of walking as well rather than taking public trans for exercising and it took the same amount of time in certain instances (like rush hour) to get to the same place(s). As for most accommodations, nothing is without its faults. I could not get the dishwasher to work and I thought it was just user error; come to find out, it is backed up with water inside. I phoned the front desk in the morning prior to leaving for the day and when we returned it still wasn't fixed so I called again and they sent someone to fix it, which they did quickly. They informed us that they do not provide housekeeping services but if we needed anything to just ask, and ask we did! They also sent someone daily during the last couple of days during our stay to empty the trash and provide us with clean towels and other necessities (without asking). They are very conservative with toiletries and any other standard necessities such as soap, shampoo, dish soap, toilet paper, etc.. as a matter of fact, they do not provide paper towels and they also were hard to find at any local stores, so it must be the way they are, which is fine, just wasn't used to that here in the states (we also had to ask for coffee daily unless we went out and made a run ourselves to a coffee shop). Bed was comfortable; however, I did notice towards the end of our stay while making it that the mattress topper was stained and I knew that wasn't from me! I called the front desk to let them know and they had someone bring a new freshly washed mattress topper. They also provide laundry service as well as washers and dryers in every unit which was convenient and thoughtful as I took advantage and did laundry every day. They also provide laundry detergent (but no softener) which comes in a little tube and is probably just enough for a small load so I ended up buying a small box at one of the local grocery stores so I didn't have to keep asking. While we had no issues with the HVAC system in our unit, we noticed the hallways had either no AC or they did not turn it on as well as part of the lobbyway. It was a little uncomfortable especially waiting for an elevator (they dub it a "lift"). Speaking of the "lift", wait times could be long depending on how busy it was & generally early mornings were the best with no waiting. I did feel secure, however, as you are only allowed to the 15th fl where the gym is located, the lobby, and the floor that your unit is located. As for the cost, it is considered pricey by Australian standards; however, given the exchange rate per USD it was substantially cheaper and a great value for the money & this was a high floor unit (48th fl)! If I return to Australia someday (which I hope I will, it is a great country) I'd definitely stay in a Meriton Suites again!

It's right by World Square and Regent Place so I was able to eat so much incredible Asian food all within a few blocks from the hotel. Also, a lot of places around the hotel stays open late and walking around is safe. The reason I'm giving three stars is because of the service I got and the slow ass elevators. I arrived at 8am and the room wasn't ready, which was expected. I asked if I could borrow a key to access the gym so I can shower to freshen up for a meeting in a couple hours. The front desk said they can but they would charge me extra, which is absurd because the Meriton on Pitt St. nearby offered to let me use the gym to shower for free when I was in Sydney a couple months ago. The only reason I even asked about the gym access was because Pitt St. offered it to me so I thought it was an option since I'm a guest. This and even the Pitt St. location has slow elevators that it takes forever to go up and come down. This location has more elevators than Pitt, but still slow as hell. Their elevator operating system is really inefficient. Overall, I'd still come back because of the apartment style, room has a washing machine, and location. Wish they could just improve on what I mentioned.

The room itself was great, albeit ALL the way the hall from the elevator. There was a small kitchenette, equipped with a combination washer dryer which was very handy. On my last evening, I washed my travel clothing and my first two days clothing, which saved me on packing space. The bathroom was lovely, with both a shower and tub, and a double sink. The tub looked a bit discolored, but then again, I would almost certainly not use a hotel bathtub anyway. The room was very large. Bit enough for what I think was a king bed, a seating area, plus an extra chair. It was in the back of the hotel, so it was quiet. Pretty sure there was a tiny balcony, but that side overlooked a side street, so I didn't venture out. Well located toward the North end of Bondi beach, steps from the beach. There is an entrance off the side street, or one can take an elevator from the back of a tiny shopping center under the hotel which has two food establishments, a liquor store, and a full supermarket. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant, but there are all kinds of food options nearby. I'd stay again.

This place seems to be part hotel, part actual apartments where people live, and part rental units through 3rd parties - so there is an interesting mix of people here. My unit (on the 11th floor) was nice, newly decorated and well furnished. The little balcony was perfect for sitting outside and having a coffee each day. I do agree with other reviewers that there is a bit of a damp musty smell throughout the building, but they do spray the halls a lot to cover it up. On the 15th floor, you can find the "gym" (very small), a very nice rooftop pool, and a sauna, as well as 2 sets of restrooms which I found to be exceptionally clean when I used them. There is some kindof construction going on as you walk up to the pool, but I don't think it's related to the amenities at all, so it didn't bother me. There is a thai place on the main floor (MD, I did not eat there), as well as guest parking and laundry on I think the 3rd floor. Washers and dryers, as well as a machine to buy laundry detergent. Finally, in the lobby there are a few seating areas, lots of literature on trips and adventures around Sydney, and a mostly 24-hour concierge who can help you with things you need. The location - I should have started here - is absolutely perfect. You are at the southeast corner of Hyde Park, so you can get to the park, museums, Martin Place, Darlinghurst, Surrey Hills, etc. - all the cool neighborhoods are within walking distance, 10-15 minutes. I actually walked home from the Opera one evening and it was a lovely stroll. You're also next door to the Pullman Sydney, which you can use as a landmark, and ladies - you can have cabs drop you off there so they don't really know where you're staying if you're alone! I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this place to my friends. At the end of the day, you have to balance location, amenities, and price... and Hyde Oaks wins on location and price for me!

Probably one of the fastest elevators I have ever been in. This is a good thing. 3. The room was lovely and just had a great view. Nothing bad to say about the room, though our tub was not working great. The shower was good though. 4. Used the pool a couple times. It's small, but served it's purpose of letting my kids enjoy. There are beautiful views from the pool too. 5. Lastly, the service was great. I interacted with a couple of the male front desk staff while we were there and they were both really helpful (apologies that I forgot both their names). They were great! 6. For those needing to wait around after check out, there is a bathroom/shower that you can use while waiting on the pool floor. That was helpful too. It's right by George St. with all the good restaurants, walking distance from World Square and QVB, and Town Hall station is right around the corner. My only complaint is how long it takes to get an elevator. They only have two elevators and when it gets busy you have to wait a long while just to go up, and it'll take forever to go down because it has to make multiple floor stops. I don't remember this problem pre-pandemic, but I think this would prevent me from staying at this location again.

The room was enough for 3 of us. Small kitchenette with kitchen wares. We didn't cook bcuz the food here is very reasonable. It was a very friendly place to stay .
