The bar tenders were friendly, drinks were decently priced, bathrooms were clean and it was my bday at midnight and the bar tender wished me a happy bday and either she or someone bought me a shot! I go to clubs because my friends go but I prefer bars yet I don't like to just stand around, I like to dance. I don't need a designated dance floor but the Tavern was a perfect combination of all of this. The Dj this past Friday was also fantastic playing all of the greatest hits! I come to the UK every few years, I'd love to live in London so hopefully I'll be back soon and make it back into the tavern!

From the exterior it feels like it should be sporting some shisha pipes and cushions. There's some good outdoor seating, half covered by canvas for those wetter but warmer days and a good space inside. This bar looks good, clean, trendy for the area yet comfortable and intimate. The bar has a good selection, Moretti by the bottle. It's main draw is its cocktail menu. Expertly tailored and exquisitely executed drinks. No doubt the bar staff are a talented lot. However, it's a place a tad on the pricey side and doesn't have many more draws. When I think night out for cocktails, I don't think Ealing. The food, by the look of the Menu looks rather nice. A good Meze selection which was rather large in portion size., however the more ambitious meals fall through. A friend had something chicken-y and it looked (and apparently tasted) foul, bit of a waste of £11. Although it's nice enough, it's just that little bit out of the way and a little bit meh to draw me back on a regular basis. However good for groups I think, and always better than it's neighbour, Wetherspoons. No contest there.

Last night's was a Joaquin Phoenix double bill, showing Walk The Line followed by Two Lovers. While we ended up skipping the first film and just having dinner, the price is still very reasonable. We shared a lovely bottle of wine outside on the terrace (had to sit on the wall though as all the tables were full) with amazing views of the river and Hammersmith Bridge. Back inside for dinner, which we shared: a large mezze platter and some mushroom bruschetta, both of which were delicious and just enough. The cinema itself is what every cinema should be: small and dark, with the seats on an incline so everyone can see. They showed the previews and ads WAY before the start time (PERFECT!!), even drew the curtains in between the previews and the film itself (DRAMATIC!!). Riverside has much more to offer than just a restaurant and a cinema... it also shows stand-up comedy, has a fully functioning tv studio where they film live shows, a theatre for live music, and art exhibitions. A wonderful space with quality at every turn.

As it turns out, this pub was converted from a 1920s art deco cinema. While it doesn't scream art deco, it does make it a good venue for live music and other acts. In fact there were posters for an upcoming Tina Turner tribute band. I was there on a very chilly weeknight, so it wasn't really hopping. Towards the front were patrons simply enjoying beers, watching football and playing snooker. There were menus offering Indian food, but neither I nor anyone else was eating. The barkeep was nice and the prices were good. I've given an extra star because I like how they pay homage to the building's past (and the neighborhood) with loads of old photos and informational posters around the room. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if in the neighborhood - check it out. Like Tina Turner said, "it's simply the best (on that particular block)."

It feels a little weird when you first go in, almost like a big town hall or empty art gallery rather than a gig venue which takes a little getting used to. The venue feels quite small too which is good as live performances feel intimate. The stage is raised to a decent height so that everyone gets a good view. The bar area is quite small and during busy times it might get a bit cramped and you might have to wait a little longer to get served. That isn't the fault of the staff who upon my visits have done an excellent job under difficult circumstances. There isn't much in the way of parking in the surrounding area as Bush Hall is on a main road. There are a good selection of buses and tubes which stop near the Green which is a short walk away.

The Crawdaddy Club, which started towards the end of 1962, was the idea of Giorgio Gomelsky, filmmaker and blues enthusiast. His first resident group was the Dave Hunt R & B Band, which briefly featured Ray Davies who later formed The Kinks. In February 1963, the Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Crawdaddy Club, at the Station Hotel Richmond for a fee of £1 each, plus a share of the door. The Crawdaddy Club used to be here as part of the Station Hotel, and was the London equivalent of Liverpool's Cavern Club. The Rolling Stones were the house band at the Crawdaddy, and the Beatles first heard them play here in 1963. The Yardbirds were regulars too. The Station Hotel is now called Edwards and is directly opposite Richmond Station. By April 1963, the Stones had two gigs a week at the Crawdaddy and a weekly slot on Eel Pie Island. I like the laid-back cool of the place. There's lots of well-worn wood on floors and walls, and disparate types of rustic, comfy furniture. There's a number of beers on tap, and often some interesting imports (they carried Sleeman's, a Canadian beer, for a while, and always have some Belgian fruit beers). Their wine list is extensive. They also have some decent wines on tap if you're not too snooty. The food here is really good, and I've had everything from bar snacks to brunch to full meals. Quite a few vegetarian options. I'll admit that I did have one bad dining experience here where my burger took forever and had to be sent back once it came, but the rest of the time it's been good. There are three rooms, all similar in vibe and furnishings. They've got a covered outdoor area in the alley beside the pub. There's no greenery, just picnic benches, but they run a barbeque out there in the summer. I've come to this pub on my own a couple of times when I'm been free during weekdays: it's a good place to have a drink and read a book, do a bit of work, or people-watch passers-by on the Broadway during the day. On weekend evenings a DJ spins up in the front room, and the place can get very busy at those times. One criticism is that they sometimes don't seem to have enough bar staff on to handle the impressive crowds they draw, and getting served can take a while. I think it's a 21-and-over pub.
