Bush Hall is a beautiful little concert hall which is somewhat overshadowed by the Empire just around the corner. It has a lot of interesting decor and interior which keeps your eyes busy whilst you listen to acts on stage. It feels a little weird when you first go in, almost like a big town hall or empty art gallery rather than a gig venue which takes a little getting used to. The venue feels quite small too which is good as live performances feel intimate. The stage is raised to a decent height so that everyone gets a good view. The bar area is quite small and during busy times it might get a bit cramped and you might have to wait a little longer to get served. That isn't the fault of the staff who upon my visits have done an excellent job under difficult circumstances. There isn't much in the way of parking in the surrounding area as Bush Hall is on a main road. There are a good selection of buses and tubes which stop near the Green which is a short walk away. read more

Small and intimate. Beautiful and you'll know what I mean when you see it. The curved ornate ceilings are gorgeous and they provide good acoustics! I went on a whim because I was staying for a short visit close to the airport. I saw Albin Lee Maldau, he was terrific. Bartenders were gracious and helpful at the venue, drinks were priced well and there was a nice selection. It seemed like at this particular concert there were people from all over the world. I sat next to a French Amman and an Italian man who were together, made for fun conversations about traveling. read more

Always seem to end up at this random venue in a most random part of Town with the most random usually indie band. But I like it. Strangely small bar as you enter but again I like it. Even met Jarvis Cocker there propped up at bat one time. Beautiful gig setting. read more

I like Bush Hall as a venue. It does have a definite 'hall' feel to it when you walk in. A bit like there's been a wedding that day but now the tables and chairs have been moved out of the way to leave a bar at one end and a stage at the other, probably where the bride and groom were sat (on the stage at head table, not at the bar). That said, the acoustics are good and I like that it doesn't get absolutely jam-packed, so you can cut some shapes as and when you feel the need. It's a relaxed atmosphere without the tension of whether anything will kick-off and the smaller bands who play here are ideal for the size of the venue. It's one of those places where you can just go and enjoy the music and get served when youre thirsty rather than worrying about everything from how to beat the crowds to get home or if some idiot is going to throw water over you or whether you might end up wetting yourself because the line for the loos is depressingly long. read more

Possibly one of the best places to see live music in London, this old hall has oodles of atmosphere and awesome acoustics. I saw Gary Moore here, yep I'm that old skool, and it was a really impressive event. Hidden out in deepest darkest Shepards Bush I wouldn't expect to find a gem like this. Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal have even played here - I think that officially makes this place cool! There is loads of room to see the stage and yet it's not so big that you loose the intimacy of the gigs that are played here. Seriously, if you see a band on here that you'd like to see, book it! You won't regret it! read more

From outside I was like "Damn, is this some kind of west London dive bar?" Once inside I was like"Ahhhhhhhh, nice!" This place is definitely a hall, yet is exudes a certain decadence with its ornate ceilings and beautifully lit chandeliers. Deceptively large, there were at least 250 people seated ready to watch a burlesque master class that suited the venue perfectly. With an easy to drink bottle of white wine for £15, I enjoyed the near perfect acoustics and revelled in the atmosphere. My only gripe is the toilet facilities seemed a little lacking. They could do with a few more urinals. Do not chance the bathroom in an intermission if you are bursting. You may wet your pants. Bathrooms aside, this is a great venue for live music, and theatrical performance. I will certainly be back for more entertaining extravagance. read more

Such an amazing venue. Tucked away on Uxbridge Road is this unimpressive building. However once you are in you are transformed into once of the most beautiful 'ballrooms' in London. It is an old building so do not expect perfect toilets, an air conditioned room or bright lighting. It is full of character and charm that (in other places) is slowly being renovated into impersonal modern spaces. OK so this is really a review for the Lost Lectures and one for Bush Hall First things first, when you come out of the tube at Shepherds Bush Market take a left, if you go right and head towards the signposted Bush Theatre you may be walking a little while! Of course I would never make such a mistake! The venue; small and has a little intimate mini wedding reception, 20s ballroom charm about it. There're chandeliers from the ceiling, pillars and moulding on the walls. Quite a cool little place. Not very big but with great acoustics and a balcony with a decent little bar. The event they had there, now that was something else! The Lost Lectures is one of the best things I've been to in London and to put it briefly is a bastard child mixture of the TED lectures and Secret Cinema. It's a series of pop up 20 minute lectures on various topics from art to science to the plain passionate! A really wonderful night in a very unusual place though I think I loved the lectures more than this quirky little venue. read more

Bush Hall is one of London's best kept secrets. Having said that, almost every event I've attended here was sold out. Most recently their fabulous NYE extravaganza courtesy of White Mischief. Not usually a fan of organised New Year's parties, which can be sad affairs with little value for money, I didn't need much persuading simply because I trust the venue. OK, they crammed in slightly more seats than was comfortable but the atmosphere was great from beginning to end. This is partly due to the hall's beautiful interiors but enhanced by the super friendly staff and first class entertainment. Also, there is something charmingly unassuming and fun about a West London crowd - good mix of ages and backgrounds, most dressed up to fit the burlesque theme. I have been to a few smaller music events here, and each and one of them was special. The acoustics are great and Bush Hall is one of these places that adds a little bit of glamour to even a plain set. read more

I apologize for having to compare everything in a city I'm currently living in to something in LA but... this space reminds me A LOT of the El Rey Theater. The low chandeliers, the red curtains and decor, and the moderately sized standing area, as well as a small upstairs space surrounding the floor... almost like deja vu! I think this is definitely one of my go-to spots for music in London, because I LOVE standing concerts, and I also LOVE small to medium-sized venues where you can hear the artists voice from no matter where you are, see every sweat drop and wrinkle, and practically reach out and touch them. This is just cozy enough for me that I can get close and still have my own square feet of space to dance, but not too cozy where i can't breathe because people are packed on top of me and smashing their elbows into my ribcage. As for getting here, the closest tube stop is about a 5-10 minute walk and the neighborhood is a little bit questionable. We also walked right past this place without even noticing so keep an eye out of you're new to the area! The pricing for the shows are reasonable, and the artists that have performed here and will perform here in the future are just my taste! so I know for a fact that I am going to make my way back here sometime soon :D read more

I want to get married here, it's so beautiful inside. We came to see City & Colour here, one of my absolute favourites so it was fantastic to be able to see him in such an intimate venue. The toilets are pretty manky...I hope they sort them out before my wedding ;) read more

A really gorgeous venue in a sort of old school, 1920's Music Hall type way, with big plush curtains and ornate detail throughout the building. As the other venues have mentioned it's perfect for an intimate feeling gig but they do pack a few hundred people in. Bush Hall also attracts some pretty sweet acts who are lured by the quirky intimacy of the venue. I think Ani di Franco played here about a week before playing the Empire down the road, I know which one I would've prefered. I didn't see either, but I bet the Bush Hall one was a bunch better. I've also seen some BBC radio shows recorded here, which was very good and altogether rather civilised. The balcony bar upstairs is really cool (a bit VIP) and you can step outside to look out over the bustling Uxbridge Road. Great in summer when the scent of barbeques wafts over but very chilly at this time of year. So head inside for some close quarters performances. read more

A beautiful venue that's large enough to get a decent number of people in yet small enough to keep a real feeling of intimacy. The only reason I've knocked a star off the rating is because the bar can get incredibly overcrowded (more than at other venues). Parking round here's reasonable enough, too - it was free to park in the residents' bays when I was there last. read more

I was rather disapponted by my time here. The place looks lovely inside - as others have said it's an old hall with lovely ceilings and the space feels good. Sadly the acoustics are poor, the sound system equally poor and the bouncers rather on the unfriendly side. I was buying something from the merchandise table at the end of the gig and was hurried out by excessively enthusiastic security. The band I went to see had a great light show but the management refused to take down a red curtain at the back of the stage so the projectors could be used properly, saying it would make the sound bad. The sound was very poor so I can't work out why they couldn't work with the band and allow a spectacular light show. The bar is exceptionally bad. Totally packed it took an age to get served and there was no draught beer and the tins were worryingly expensive. 3 tins of Carlsberg was over £10 - if it had been on tap I might not have minded but the range was very limited and none of the tins I had were that cold. I had high hopes for this place after reading so many good things about it but it was very far from the experienced I anticipated. read more

Possibly the best gig venue in London: Small enough to get intimate with the performers, Bush Hall always excels in their programming (check out their website to see how many chart-toppers have played there; from my own recollection, that's where Ben Lee delivered one of his best performances ever, in May 2005). The place's burgundy dressing makes it really cosy. And I know this is now out of context, but back in those public smoking days, they were already one of the few venues on ban policy. read more

Tiny, gorgeous dance hall room near Shepherd's Bush that now sees intimate performances by eclectic artists. I saw Canadian folkie Sarah Harmer here, and I think many of the acts tend to the acoustic side. However, I also know they've booked in performances by Boy George and the Dresden Dolls. It's a single flat room, so if you're short and get there late you may not see much. It can get pretty packed. read more

I was very impressed with Bush Hall on my first visitit's a beautiful room with high ceilings, chandeliers, plush carpets, and candle-lit tables. The crowd was so civilised that, far from having to get up from our table and move to the front in order to see the headlining act, we found ourselves sitting comfortably for the whole show, gazing over the heads of the audience that was mostly sitting cross-legged on the floor. The drinks are reasonable and the sound quality was pristine, even at higher volumes. The only downside is the location: Uxbridge Road is pretty depressing and there are hardly any decent places to eat or have a drink before the doors open. Still, we did have quite a bit of time to sit around and chat before the first support act. Oh, one other small complaint: I like to keep tickets to the gigs I attend, but having booked online they simply took my name at the door and let me in without issuing me with a ticket, so no souvenir for me. This venue is on Uxbridge Road, near to Queen's Park Ranger's home ground on Loftus Road. It appears to be a converted music hall or cinema and still sports some of the original Victorian fittings. The main auditorium has a fairly small stage but is a standing venue. Sound is excellent and the venue overall has a great feel and atmosphere. There is a small bar out front with excellent prices (for London) and friendly, efficient staff. read more

Bush Hall was originally a dance hall built at the start of the 1900's and has been a bingo hall in the forties and snooker club in the nineies, before it was reopened in 2001 as a music venue. The original features of the hall seem to have survived its various incarnations making it an atmospheric and intimate venue for events and bands to perform at. Many big names perform here, I think its used by promoters to showcase big name bands and their new material to the london press. This means there have been some great gigs here by upcoming musicians - but I sometimes find the crowd here contains a few too many "guestlisters" chattering at the back, rather than fans. As we started the evening off at a rambunctious chicken chop shop (that shall remain nameless) serving packs of children like they were starving animals at the zoo, I didnt have high hopes for the evening, But as we came upon the Bush Hall, my spirits lifted. Not much of a building, shanty really. Non descript and derelict. As you enter, its like entering a whole new realm. Mezmorizing in fact. Chandeliers to boot. Small and intimate, you get the feeling of being hugged by an old friend. I sat upstairs perched on a bar chair overlooking the stage, like it was built just for me. There is also a outside deck and as I lit my Lucky Strike (justforyou), Facing the launderette, Gazing at the moon, Listening to the acoustic tunes resonating from inside, I thought what a perfect place. As the night went on, Priscilla ahn's lyrics screaming "Pay attention, This is the soundtrack of your life" to the tune of a ukulele, it turned out to be quite an eventful night indeed. So if you feel jaded by the entertainment industry, come get hugged by Bush Hall and maybe, just maybe it'll give you some hope. Yay!!! read more

Beautiful little venue with a small stage, came for a seated gig. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside it's high ceilings with chandeliers, ornate white walls and beautiful lighting. Charming main room. There's a bar downstairs and upstairs. It's basic drinks... Y'know like, soft drinks are served from cheap 2L bottles in small plastic cups. Upstairs is quaint with a view of the stage and entrance to a little terrace. Overall a cute little venue with beautiful decor. read more

Great little venue for seeing live acts, ony thing is that it can be soooo hot! Making it a bit uncomfortable. Although they do have a great upstairs balcony with an outside bit. Perfect for cooling down whilst still listening to the music. Chairs remind me of an 80's wedding reception, bit too close together too. This is an listed venue, absolutely lovely, but with a leaky roof you have to be careful where you sit. I love this venue, I've been there for shows, for gigs, for dance classes. I just love the old decor and simplicity of this place. I just wish they had more events I could go to! read more

I love Bush Hall, my friends band played here 6 years ago and i went again last night to watch La Dispute and forgot how beautiful it is. It is both dingy and grand, with purple/red lighting inside, it's a great intimate venue to watch a band with a bar upstairs and down. It also has a smoking area upstairs which is handy. Prices aren't too bad, got a rum n coke and a lager for £8 which for most music venues is good. read more

This place is a real gold mine. They venue have had some of the biggest bands on the planet playing here. REM are one to name many big bands. This is a really really small hall and is prefect for a gig. You really feel like you part of the band in this venue. The only problem with this place is there only a small bar and when you get a good act come to the venue it does get pretty busy, and if you go in the summer like I do most years, it does get really really hot. read more

lovely little venue looking forward to seeing peter grant again,alas all the way through the support acts and peter grant people speaking in raised voices ,noise from upstairs bar and downstairs bar, i think venue organisors could close these areas off so people seated could hear properly, after all if your in the bar talking whats the point of being there?and even in the hall people standing at the back of us talking all the way through the evening so selfish for people who want to listen .shame i wouldnt go back its just a waste of time read more
