Although it's taken me quite a while to write a review of this place after a rather lengthy history…read moreof gas fill-ups here, though I thought I could get around filling up at a Citgo with my current car at first, when I desperately needed gas on New Years Eve and saw the sun setting near Staples Plaza (near Burlington Coat Factory in the former Caldor parking lot), I knew I had to reach out and fill up here. First of all: I still can't believe that this place still calls themselves "Citgo Caldor Plaza". Caldor has been closed since well before 1997 yet their receipts still name themselves after this plaza. Caldor went bankrupt and this plaza turned into a combined Burling Coat Factory & Dollar Tree location. The biggest thing now near this plaza (and sitting closer to this Citgo) is the Staples and Jo-Ann Fabrics location which does even better business. When I came here on the close of the afternoon on New Years Eve, it was drawing upon negative temperature readings. I felt cold. I mean, I had a jacket and pair of gloves, but the whole experience just wasn't like something I would have wanted in a million years. I had my GasBuddy card on me, so paying for gas was quick and easy and even better, knowing I'd be saving money with the transaction always made for a plus on the experience. I'm just sorry I couldn't have pumped more gas than I could. The pump stopped at $18.50, and so did I. I almost ran off without grabbing my receipt, but that was to be expected seeing the temperatures over the last couple days after this fill-up (I knew I'd have a receipt in my GasBuddy Wallet account, but receipts with this are always a great reminder for what I'd need to remember about when it came time for GasBuddy to withdraw from my bank.) I see a fair amount of people pulling up to these pumps, filling and driving away. I sometimes come here, and although most-often I end up having to pay with cash inside, when I do come with GasBuddy card in hand, I know I'm better off using the "pay-at-the-pump" method, so I'm glad it was working that day. I even sometimes spot other rideshare drivers showing up from "parking" in this gas station at times, so I know I'm in line with most other drivers in this respect. I won't get into history that much, but I do remember when I was a kid years ago, this was the only place where kids would get tootsie-roll samples that they no longer hand out. Now I do wish they'd return when I sometimes need a "pick-me-up". But then again, find me elsewhere for saving purchases on gas prices nearby at such stations called Speedway and Shell which tend to impress me more.

They have pretty much anything you need in a convenience store, and then some. snacks, food, sundries, beer, soda, and other drinks. I find that the Stewart's branded sodas are just as good as the name brand, and the price is much more reasonable. Also, this Stewart's actually has eggnog, year-round. And it's good, too. They have hot foods, such as hotdogs, chili, pizza, etc. For a slice of "convenience store pizza", it's pretty darn good, and reasonably priced, too! They also have things such as Sundaes, banana splits, etc... in their dessert shop. My partner and I are always getting their milkshakes, they are fantastic. Stewart's ice cream is top notch! The prices in the store are reasonable. . They are not a 24-hour store, but they close late, and open early. . You can also join their "moo club" for specials on items they sell in the store, and, you can also join their "scoop club" and get free ice cream. We will keep coming back. Thank you!

But this is a shorter drive from 199/209, and you know when you come here you'll pay the same price cash or credit. It seems to be an older Stewart's, so you may not get all the services you might find at their newer stores.

I've liked most of the other Stewart's Shops, so when I was nearby this one and needed a muffin and some additional drinks and easy breakfast pastries, I decided Stewarts it was going to be and came in early last month (about a month ago). I didn't find any blueberry muffins (because my brother grabbed the last muffin to purchase for himself and my mother and didn't mention that he was the one until much later) and the chocolate chip muffins affected my stomach that day, the rest of the experience went without much issue or hassle. But at least when i looked for a root beer, i found a vanilla one I wanted to try instead. It's not that the shelves aren't stocked, it's just the options I'm given to choose from or the placement of the items to make for an easy route to the registers to pay. I know its a convenience store and I'm left waiting for something else decent to happen to this station that convinces me to shop here more often again. My brother's favorite bank is almost next door, and he seems to avoid this station if it isn't for our mention of stopping here on occasion when coming through on specific reasons.

Things were clean, though there were no other cars filling up alongside me. I can't even say it's a problem of mine, but I never did know that Citgo has their own gas-savings/rewards card out there. I saw an application to fill out for this card at the pumps, but I had my own form of gas-saving/rewards card with GasBuddy that I was dealing with. I just wish it wouldn't be geared towards those with insertable cards to start it off, as I bet my other brother has a card already and was hoping you'd have a way to enter a phone number or similar at the pumps to get the same discount. I'm thankful I don't have to go through all that rigmarole with GasBuddy at my side. I can't stand always saying what seems to be the same thing in all my gas reviews. But when you figure in all the possible places with only pay-at-the-pump conditions, you get the picture that I have few other choices to choose from in what to say. But it hasn't been just me that has stopped in. My brother also stops in on occasion - though his experiences are sparse and outdated, and besides they are his spot to get a short car-wash which is also present on site. (This experience I can't back up, as I myself have never used this location's wash, as I find better prices and services elsewhere that make this car wash unnecessary and pricey.)

Like the convenience of this location (right by the Thruway) and that there are lots of pumps with decent prices. The coffee and sandwiches here are actually quite good. Getting into and out of the place isn't always the easiest, but it's not too bad. As I said, sandwiches are pretty good here, the place is clean and gas prices are usually decent.

As long as the place is semi-clean, the staff isn't rude, I'm pretty much good. Oh, and there's one other thing... The windshield washer fluid and squeegee situation at the pumps. I hate when there's no washer fluid. I hate when there hasn't been washed or fluid for days and there's cobwebs holding the squeegee in the reservoir. Typically when I pull into a convenience store the first thing I check is the washer fluid because that's the first thing I do.. if there isn't any, I go somewhere else. If there is I wash my windshield I fill up with gasoline and I typically go inside and buy some snacks. I'm guessing you can judge by the number of stars I just left, that this particular location doesn't have any.

Even with saying this place can…read moreuse my EBT card, I've found quite some things I hadn't known for this place to carry in the past hidden within your shelves, that every time I go in there, some things are always missed in the last transaction I intended to purchase but put back. I've been going in there mostly for quick items, but every time I go in there, I'd always carry peanuts and similar (after checking out), although not being able to find hard-boiled eggs here was a depression because I was buying for someone else who was traveling with me at the time. Also, not being able to find bakery goods, like muffins and hard roll sandwiches has been troubling because, with Speedway, it's always been they carry only the brand name goods that aren't baked in-store. I value (at least a peanut buttered roll) from a convenience store, though muffins are my backup, and neither one via store brand is ever found here - and I'm angry about it. However, I like that your store carries the ice cream in the fridge over the window. It's nice being able to buy ice cream cookie sandwiches in the same place as my favorite - Nestle Drumsticks - which not even I can find in most convenience stores near me. Although you don't exist on any of my delivery apps of choice for Dutchess County, I'm not expecting anything to come of this statement. Especially since your competitor is there and serving most of their goods to customers in Dutchess County, not seeing any Speedways is a downfall of the Speedway brand.
