I discovered this store when driving by and saw a good price on Chuck Roasts on their electronic billboard. We stopped and I bought a bunch of meat to freeze. Very good beef and pork so far. They have a in-store bakery, deli, small produce department, and a good selection of merchandise. Some prices are high, but like I said I come to stock up on sale items. Have been back several times. Friendly and helpful employees.

This Hy-Vee is huge by small town standards, so learning the grocery store takes a bit more time here. We found everything we needed, but it did take a little more time to figure it all out. I like that Hy-Vee Liquors is attached to the main store and that the wine and beer selection is really good. In hindsight, we over shopped, maybe because we were hungry after a long drive. Our cart did include a bag of chips which were reasonable priced. Check-out was chatty and efficient, and soon we were on our way. Touch up shopping would be done later at the Spirit Lake Hy-Vee.

This smallish grocery store (by our spoiled SoCal standards) reminded me of grocery stores when I was a little kid: no big fancy displays, no gimmicks, no 10¢ a grocery bag... just a clean well-stocked grocery with nice folks running the joint. There is a low glass case at the meat department and--get this-- butchers working back there! Fresh produce and cold drinks, soft bread, and enough sugary junk for the kids... a couple of bags of ice and we were back on our way: mom making sandwiches on the truck center console, and kids rattling chips bags in the back seat. Small town Iowa doesn't mean small selection at this local grocery store…read more My father-in-law is from Remsen, with his 90 year old mother still residing blocks from the downtown. We stopped in for a family reunion and I forgot I was asked to bring an appetizer. So to the grocery store I went! Walking in, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to find. But I was very impressed with the selection and honestly the prices weren't that more expensive then smaller grocery stores in bigger cities. Anything more expensive is basically paying for the convenience of shopping last minute (as well as supporting a local family business) and I think that's totally worth it! Two things that really blew me away were; 1) The beer selection. Dozens of craft beers at reasonable prices. He even carded me when I got some adult beverages. (I turn 30 in 10 days, but who's counting?!) 2) The service. The owner greeted us as we walked in, offered to help us find anything a few minutes later and finally was more than willing to help load the car once we checked out. I know this grocery store is under new ownership-- I think he's really doing a fabulous job stocking the shelves with lots of options and is beyond professional and courteous to his customers. I'll definitely be stopping in next time I'm in Remsen!

Me and my friend were enjoying our time in the toy isle causually on a princess bike. we rose from…read morethe bike for a small bit of time leaving it in the aisle but going back to it after a minut. the employee Craig.. was so very rude about the bike and having to put it back himself when we were there to do the same. My experience and my day were ruined along with my friends. I do not appreciate the service and i will surely not return, especially when craig is working.

Ended up calling back on another phone to get someone to pickup. Why don't your phone lines ring back to somebody after a few minutes? Why didn't SOMEBODY notice a phone line blinking forever? This isn't the first bad phone experience I've had with this location. I HATE calling Walmart!!
