Disc golf is sort of like real golf, except you play with frisbee discs, and try to get them in baskets or hit poles, instead of into a hole in the ground. This course is located in the thick of the woods, with 27 holes divided into three 9-hole courses. At the end of each nine you end up at the start again, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to try. Over two days I did all 27 holes and it was super fun! The course is free and unsupervised, with a couple of picnic benches, a couple of outhouses (quite clean) and a tap for water. You have to bring your own discs, and some are for sale in a nearby general store. The trees are dense, and there is a lot of climbing around rocks and roots, especially if you fling your disc in an undesired location. Most times you can't see the basket, which adds to the fun. I did find the paths well maintained, and didn't have too much of a problem with my footing, even when it was raining. When traveling on the ferry over to the island I saw a few people with serious collections of discs, so I think this is quite the destination course. As a beginner, it was fun to spend time outdoors with friends, and for more experienced players there are lots of challenging holes.

It however also means that there are no employees on site, and no equipment available for rent. This is one of the more popular courses in the lower mainland with a strong club presence. The basic 9 hole recreational layout (which follows essentially a counter-clockwise pattern) would be considered to be on the easy side. That said it is a little cruel for the beginning player as all water on the recreational course is on the left hand side of the hole you are playing (given that most players are right handed backhand throwers), which brings it into play for most beginning players, and losing a disc in the water can be a big turn off. Make sure that you have your name and phone number and/or email address on your discs before you start a round, as there are people who regularly retrieve discs from the ponds (although they may ask for compensation for the inconvenience of fishing it out). There are additional holes around the course which locals/regulars can show you, or if you arrive before noon on a Sunday, you can participate in their weekly Sunday doubles events, which as of this writing are $7 ($5 towards the prize purse), $1 Ace Pot/CTP and $1 to the Mundy Disc Golf Club. So overall the course is flat with limited variety and water which should not be in play for experienced players, however there are a number of additional hole options, and locals maintain the course well and are willing to share additional course layouts. Worth visiting and playing, but not a personal favourite due to a lack of sufficient variety.

During the spring be sure to wear shoes for the mud. They do a good job at laying down woodchips and making pathways, but if you throw out of line you may be walking into mud to get your disc. There are benches at some of the sections. There are signs at the beginning of each section to give you an idea of length and direction of the basket, and underneath the basket there are arrows that point in the direction to get to the next section. About a 1-2.5 hr course depending on group size.

I'm taking my full final f*ckin' Karen form on this one. I'll preface by saying I know jack squat about Pokémon cards, nor will I ever claim to. However, my 7-year old son adores Pokémon, is an avid trader and collector among his peers and with his uncle, and prior to this experience, we've been quite fond of this place. Yesterday, he was pumped to get a quote for the value of a handful of cards that he had been excited to receive in trades. Prior to going in, I told him to temper his expectations, and that he would likely receive a much lower quote than he was expecting. I explained what a for-profit business is, and the difference in what they quote and what they turn around to sell is how they pay the bills. I told him if he wasn't satisfied with a quote, he didn't have to do a thing and just hang on to the cards. Still quite shy about approaching any customer service situation, he sheepishly approached the lady behind the Pokémon counter, asking if he might get a quote for the seven cards in his little protective binder. Interrupting him, without even opening his binder or giving a simple glance at any of the cards, the lady said, "Those are all bulk cards and are worthless." This upset me, not because of her opinion, but because of the way she just wrote him off. She gave absolutely no shits about the kid. I asked, "Are you able to tell the value of any given card without knowing which card it is or even seeing the card?" Response from the Smug Pokémon Bitch (a term I avoid using at most costs) : "Oh yeah, just like any other industry, when you've been doing something for this long, you become an expert." We promptly left. Smug Pokémon Bitch appears to be an expert in negative marketing because I'm blasting this experience far and wide. Regardless of the true value of his cards, had she taken the thirty seconds to just take a look at them instead of writing him off simply because he's a child, I wouldn't be wasting the energy or time to type this out. But this warrants the Karenning. Take your business elsewhere. This place can kick rocks.
