Plenty of jokes and interesting descriptions about the history of the place. This building was originally a jail when it was built, intended to reflect the ideology of a British man who was set on reforming prisons. Like many countries when faced with an influx of immigration, the population housed in the jail were disproportionately made up of immigrants being punished for minor offenses. It was later converted to an English-language college that didn't last very long. The building finally wound up becoming an English-language library that now serves as the English-language cultural center of Quebec City. The library is filled with artifacts as well. And that old library smell is heavenly! The tour was a little boring, but not terribly, which is the only reason I give it 4 stars. I would have liked some more photographs from that time to be displayed throughout (even though I know they're probably incredibly rare). I did find myself checking my watch, but probably because we came in starving. If you're a history buff, library nerd, or jail hobbyist (lol), definitely try to check this place out.

Shops, dining, entertainment and historic places are all around you and very easily walkable. I'd stay here again when visiting. Weren't helpful in finding us someplace else to stay. CHARGED us for our room the night we didn't stay and refused to refund us until we argued for two hours over the phone! Over the years it has been the site of hundreds of recreational and social events. The military origins of the Club are represented on its grounds by pyramids of cannon balls and an old cannon. I attended a private reception tonight and had a chance to check out the dozens of opulently decorated and furnished rooms at the club. The rooms are huge - gorgeously decorated with paintings on the walls and dark woodwork and paneling. Our group was set up outside under a tent, and everything was just perfect. The bartenders, cooks, servers, and everyone we encountered was professional and first-class. It's conveniently located on Rue Saint-Louis in the middle of the busy tourist zone

This hotel is a clean, comfortable, and safe place to stay. It looks to have been renovated within…read morethe last few years and looks nice. It's located about a 20 minute drive away from Quebec City. Plenty of restaurants are right next door to the hotel as well as across the street. We appreciated the indoor parking lot under the hotel, especially since the weather was cold and snowy. Our room had one queen sized bed with an extra firm mattress, which was a little small and uncomfortable for me. The shower handle popped off twice when we used the shower. One desk lamp wasn't working. I told the man at the front desk and he sent someone to our room with a new working lamp within ten minutes. Staff was pleasant and completely fluent in English and French. The continental breakfast that was included in the price was basic--bread, cold cereal, and canned fruit. We went to a nearby Tim Horton's for breakfast instead. I liked the mini Cuisinart coffee maker in the room and used it every day. We had a mini fridge that we used too. Our room was quiet and clean. The temperature was comfortable and the air quality was good, no odors. The two upholstered chairs in our room were comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

It is however clean there are no carpets in the rooms, all hardwood. Mattresses are nice and stiff which are good for your back. Breakfast is included and there's a gym with a TV in it. So You get to watch hockey games while I'm training, Bonus: very few people use the gym so you have it all to yourself.
