History
Established in 2011.
Luke Deikis & Cara Fraver started Quincy Farm in 2011, after five years of searching for the perfect piece of land. The farm was bought from the Wright family, who had in turn bought it from the British prior to the Revolutionary War... which makes Luke and Cara the first new family to own this farm since before the United States existed! The farm is protected by a conservation easement held by the Agricultural Stewardship Association that ensures this magnificent piece of ground will forever remain viable farmland and open space.
The farm has expanded to steadily to now provide high-quality naturally-grown produce to several CSA's (Ballston Spa, Malta, Glens Falls) and four of the best markets in upstate New York: Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Malta.
Meet the Business Owner: Luke D.
Luke and Cara both grew up in agricultural communities, but not in farming families. They met after college, and spent several years together in Brooklyn, growing a large garden and sowing wild oats. The city wasn't for them, though, and in 2008 they moved to the Hudson Valley, spending three years working for two of the best CSA farms in NY: Roxbury Farm in Kinderhook, and Hearty Roots Farm in Tivoli. In the spring of 2010 they found the property that would become Quincy Farm, and after nearly a year of negotiations finally closed in the spring of 2011.
