I this farm SO MUCH . I pick here multiple times each summer. Acres and acres of blueberries and lots of varieties. Farm stand also has pre-picked berries, honey, and jams if you don't have time to PYO. Pull up and get a bucket, or get your bowls weighed, then off you go to pick. Pay at the stand on the way out. Cash/check only still. They also started having a food truck there on weekends so you can grab food and a drink. read more

I have been going blueberry picking at this family farm since I was a little girl. It's very special to me to be able to recreate this same tradition with my daughters! The picking season at Winney's is earlier and longer than most farms. You have the option of pick-your-own, or purchasing already picked berries. This was the last week of picking season, so we were instructed where to drive in and park for the most plentiful berries. The fields are very buggy. Next time, we will be prepared with bug spray and sunhats. Although we arrived late in the season, we didn't have trouble finding some good berries. The farm stand offered a choice of small or large buckets. The small ones were a nice size for my four and six year old to carry and fill. The berries were very reasonably priced. We picked enough for 2 dozen muffins, and plenty more to enjoy fresh and to freeze. We will be back next year for our yearly berry picking trip! read more

I don't know how anyone could possibly give Winney's anything less than a top rating. Do you want to pick your own blueberries? Check! (We did that one year.) Do you want to buy them already picked and packed? Check! Are the prices fair? Check! Are the folks working at the counter friendly? Check! Are the berries of good quality? Check! Do the blueberries taste good? DOUBLE Check!!! (They have so much more flavor and sweetness than what is available in the local super markets.) They also sell some items made with blueberries, including blueberry juice. Go check them out now while they still have plenty of berries available! They close for the season on Labor Day. read more

How is it possible that I've never done a review of Winney's before?? I love this place!! And...I live super close to it. So. Much. Winning. What I find fascinating about Winney's is that they plant multiple varieties of blueberries...that ripen and are ready at different times over the summer. So, unlike the super short strawberry season that we have at most local farms, Winney's has blueberries for the picking starting (usually) in early July...all the way through the summer! How cool is THAT? If you don't feel like picking your own, you can easily grab them already plucked from the little counter/stand area. Prices are more than reasonable; this farm has been around for a long time. Perhaps for generations? Don't know the details...but they do blueberries right. Go pick some!!! read more

Winney's Farm, located just outside of Saratoga Springs, New York, is Saratoga County's largest blueberry farm. They have hundreds upon hundreds of blueberry plants which include many different varieties. My personal favorite was "Brigetta", followed closely by the "Duke" variety. You can purchase fresh picked blueberries from the store at the entrance or pick your own. I prefer the latter. After picking up the buckets at the entrance, you drive a short distance down a farm road to a parking area in the middle of the blueberry fields. There you can see that each row is clearly identified by a sign at the end with the variety's name. It's hard not to notice the sounds coming from the loud speakers situated throughout the fields. It's an ingenious way to keep the blueberries intact. They broadcast the sounds of native hawks and birds in distress to keep the other birds from eating the blueberries. It definitely works judging from the amount of fresh blueberries. Don't get too close to the speakers,they are pretty loud. Although I'm not sure how they keep the deer away with no fences. We picked a little over 1 1/2 gallons of blueberries and paid about $12. That's not including the other half gallon we ate while we were out there. They charge $1.35 per pound. In my opinion, this is the best place in the Capital Region to get blueberries. The prices are very affordable unlike many of the more touristy farms like Bowman's or Liberty Ridge. At Winney's Farm, it is cheaper to pick your own than to buy berries at the store, which is how it should be. Winney's Farm is very spacious and there are just row after row of blueberry bushes that are just loaded with huge juicy berries. There are so many different varieties that I can't even remember. It is so easy to pick berries because each blueberry bush is so full of berries. My family and I picked 15 pounds of blueberries and only picked off of a few bushes. We will be back every year to stock up our freezer. read more

We picked another 20# of wonderful blueberries today. Last years were just finished up. As always, the staff were gracious and helpful. Bags tear easily so bring a sturdy container to put them in for the ride home or you'll pick them again from the floor of the car! read more

Very nice, fun picking. unfortunately I forgot to get there in time this year, but past years it has been great. Highly recommended, get the big gallon bucket, you can freeze your blueberries and eat 'em all year round! Prices reasonable (unlike those jokers are Saratoga Apple). read more

The blueberries are great again this year. Prices are up a bit from the last review, now $2.25 per pound to pick your own, or $7.00 a quart for the picked blueberries. Just a few more weeks in the season so get out there now. read more
