Two weeks daily, always on time, always with a uniformed crew, always with the bulk materials arriving and refuse being picked on time, a comprehensive, well-discussed plan, and, a contractor with a pretty decent personality, always willing and receptive to listen. It was not a cheap job, and it involved removing tons of contaminated top soil and old lawn, roots, old piping, etc., etc., planting, grading, DGing, and putting down artifical turf per the plan. I have watched many an episode of Peoples' Court featuring lawsuits against a variety of landscape contractors for a variety of reasons. No chance of that here. I heartlily recommend Damien of Martinez Landscaping for any job, big or small!

I'm really sad to leave this review because I was genuinely excited to work with Randall. We…read moreoriginally met him through his old company, Pacific Outdoor, and I really thought he understood what we wanted. We had already dealt with several exhausting contractor experiences and were very upfront that we just wanted this project to be easy and straightforward--good communication, no BS, no surprise costs, and no constant excuses. Unfortunately, that's not how things turned out. Randall repeatedly told us the project would take about two weeks. Instead, his guys would come out and do one thing at a time, and the project ended up taking around four months. Fast forward to now, and a lot of the sod has died. Randall is saying it's because the area doesn't get enough sun and that he warned us about this beforehand. That is absolutely not how we remember the conversation. We actually planted garden beds in that area because it gets sun. And if Randall truly believed there wasn't enough sun for grass to survive, I don't understand why he would recommend and install sod and irrigation there in the first place. We're also having issues with the sidewalk he redid. There are holes and raised/pop-up areas all over it. When we brought it up, we were told it was caused by "trauma." I'm honestly not sure what that means or how something could have damaged so many different areas of a newly redone sidewalk. The most frustrating part is that we specifically told Randall how tired we were of dealing with contractors who always had an excuse for why something went wrong. We really thought this experience would be different. At this point, we just want the issues fixed properly or to be refunded for the work that needs to be redone. We're not looking for more explanations or excuses, we just want the problems resolved. If Randall makes things right, I'll gladly update or remove this review.
