My experience with American Remodeling started at the Corvettes of Carlisle show where a…read moresalesperson gave me a flyer for discount. We had been talking about remodeling our main bathroom shower for years, and finally decided to pursue the job with this company. We thought "Bald Nick" as he called himself, was a fairly good salesperson, and so we signed a contract with the company thinking we were going to get a great product, a good construction crew (not subs but their own staff) and we would be thrilled with the outcome. Well, the crew was great and did a very professional job all the way through. But what we ordered and what we got are night and day, and we totally are disappointed with the end result. We talked about a white base for the shower, but then I told "B. Nick" that no we wanted it to match the beautiful colored walls that we chose. We needed to look at the fine print on the contract. And the crew worked with the door closed, bringing items in from the garage to the bathroom so we didn't see the white base until the walls were all installed. We ordered a rain drop glass shower door that would open wide like our previous door so at our ages we could be prepared for a shower chair and wheelchair access at the outside of the shower. No, they didn't tell us they didn't have it and the crew began to install a sliding clear glass door that would have been horrible. Luckily we caught that just after the installed the metal rails. They took the rails out, filled the holes so they could still be seen, and left after a conversation with the York office team. And the crew told us our door couldn't be ordered and we'd have to accept what they had. No way for a job that cost over $20,000!!! So the Corporate contact said yes the door could be ordered, and we would have it within a week. We have another shower to use so that was not an issue. But then the company had the crew drive almost 2 hours to go to Lowes, pick up a shower bar, shower curtain and clips to put in our shower for the week until the door appeared. Low and behold the door we got has the raindrop but it is not a wide door, but one on swivel hinges and extends almost a foot into the shower itself when it opens. Again, not what we were presented when "B. Nick" was selling us the product, not what we saw in his materials, and not what he guaranteed when he looked at our old shower set up that we would have in the new door. Another "bait and switch" contractor, another very disappointing experience. Do we like what we have now..... of course as it is an improvement. Do we love what we have now to give a five star rating to this company? Absolutely not. Beware and check every piece of materials you believe you have ordered before it gets installed. Again, our installer crew was fabulous. But it was not what we ordered, and not what we wanted in the end.

(While on my roof for the initial estimate, Kevin also noticed a seal that was dry rotted and brought that to my attention as something to fix as well which I really appreciated) So we had to replace our gutters. We switched from 5in to 6in. Every step of the process was done promptly and professionally. Every member of the team I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Even after the initial install when I needed one minor correction, I never felt worried that I was being blown off or lesser priority. I was not charged for the service until it was done to my complete satisfaction. Our new gutters are fantastic and look really nice too. And the 10 year warranty makes me feel secure that our investment was worth every penny. I highly recommend giving Joyland a chance for your next roof/gutter issue. TERRIBLE!!! Hower's…read moreConstruction installed our fireplace insert in August, 2015. When the winter months came around, we noticed cold air coming in from all sides of the fireplace. We called Hower's Construction to see if they could come out to our house to see what could be causing the problem with the cold air coming in. (Left Msg.) They returned our call to set up an appt. We agreed around a lunch time, between 12-1pm. The day they were suppose to come out, they called and said they would be late, they had a customer emergency. DO NOT USE!!!!! I contracted with Hower's Construction to renovate a very small master bath. At…read morefirst, Matt Hower was attentive and work was good. But insanely slow. He would tell me that certain parts were backordered or "the delivery truck got caught in the snow"... As WEEKS went by. I kept hanging on because i just wanted the bathroom to be done. I signed the original work agreement with him in October. Before Christmas he called me and asked for an advance on the last payment. The bath was so close to being completed and i felt bad because he seemed to need the money before Christmas soooo....against my better judgement I agreed to give him $500 of my last $750 payment. Never saw him again. My bathroom had to be completed by someone else. Keep in mind, the bathroom was tiny...probably about 49 sq feet. I am actually hurt and embarrassed that i allowed myself to be so taken advantage of. I would never want anyone to go through that stress. Please do not use this Company. One last thing... I recently found that he had left screws and pencil marks on the wall of my bedroom, adjacent to the bath. I didnt notice it at first because my dresser and mirror covered it. Horrible. At one point he said he would give me a refund for the money i gave him and he never completed. That was in early January. Never heard from him. Gives contractors a bad name.

No upselling, no surprise or hidden costs and done quickly and within the agreed estimate. They tore down and disposed of the original balcony that succumbed from the last snow storm and collapsed January 31, 2026. Highly Recommend
