I like to try and work with local, small business whenever I can. To that end I wanted to get ahold of R B Upholstery to redo my dining chairs. They are antiques and need to be fixed up. I have never had a business "ghost" me before like R B. I called on several different occurances during business hours to always get a voicemail. My messages have never been returned. I then went to check out the place to see if maybe I had a wrong number or something and got there about 2:00 on a Thursday afternoon. The worker in the shop next to them told me to look for a truck which was there and that their location was on the end of the building. What I found was unlike anything I've seen before. There was no one there but the door was unlocked. The lights were off and I stuck my head in to see if anyone was in the back area. The place is a huge mess. It looks like it got hit by an earthquake. It's dirty and just felt like chaos. I still left my card on the door and now, 2 weeks later, still have not been contacted. I can only image what it must be like to get your furniture back from this place if they can't even return a phone call. I'm going to find another upholstery shop. read more

They did all this work at a very reasonable price. Also I had another chair I asked about getting reupholstered and they actually recommended not doing it. As the recent proud owner of a vintage click-back sofa, I was looking for someone local who could give her some TLC. They needed to be able to pick up and deliver [as I don't own a truck], be reasonably priced, and easy to work with. Rigoberto exceeded all my expectations! He has a huge selection of fabrics to choose from, is so sweet to work with, and did an incredible job with the sofa! It looks amazing and is so comfortable now. Rigoberto is amazing! I had a 100 year old family chair that was in disrepair. It had no bottom and the cushions were just as old as the chair. I had the crazy idea to have it reupholstered with a Pendleton striped wool blanket. He understood my vision for the project and excited it perfectly. He even deliver my chair since I only live a couple blocks away from the shop. It is ever better than I imagined. He was up front about how long it would take (3-4 weeks) and delivered as promised. To fix the chair, replace the cushions and cover the cushions with zippered fabric all custom made just for me it was an affordable investment and I will always use R&B for future projects. read more

My wife and I were in the market for two new recliners. After seeing what was available at numerous furniture stores, we both concluded that today's recliners are not manufactured as well as those of yesterday year. We decided to see if it was feasible to have our vintage 25 year old, made in So. Carolina, recliners reupholstered. Following a discussion with my son about our intentions, he said he would ask around his workplace for some recommendations. I was very fortunate when he told me about several testimonials praising R. B. Upholstery in Newberg. I decided to give them a call. Upon my initial contact with Rigoberto, he asked me to bring several photos of the two pieces to his shop, and he could quote me a price depending on the fabric that was chosen. After the fabric was ordered, and the very fair price firmed up, Rigoberto picked up the chairs at my home and said they'd be ready in three weeks. As promised, he delivered both chairs back to us, and were we delighted. Rigoberto far exceeded our expectations. Not only do they look gorgeous, but he also did some springs and mechanical repairs as well. He also replaced the very tired seat cushions with new zippered fabric. Amazing skills and prices-- After taunting me for years, my interior designer sister in law shared her secret and it was this shop. Rigaberto reupholstered a huge English Chesterfield sofa that would have cost 5k, at least, new. It was a tiny fraction of that, and it looks more beautiful that I could have hoped. After that, I had him do another sofa in our house, not as pretty to begin with, but an outstanding job and a very reasonable cost. He also was a good sport about using my material, which was hard to work with as it was one of those 'bullet proof' kinds that won't stain, or tear or smell, but it was a little rigid. No matter, he did a remarkable job and everyone who comes to the house wants to know where I got the 'big' sofa. I would recommend him to anyone and have. Rigoberto is excellent. Both his creativity and quality of work impressed me. I already had my fabric but my daughter selected her chair fabric from his extensive collection. My chair was around 20 years old and overall in good shape but he did put in some extra work reinforcing the chair seat pillow. He suggested I add buttons. I also had him cover a very special chair and his artistic use of the fabric, placing the motif "just so" was really wonderful.
