While I'm eternally grateful to OTF…read morefor getting me back on the fitness track, the change feels like going from high school to a university program, with a lot more breadth (much more than just dumbbells and TRX) and depth (more emphasis on form and tracking) at Forge, particularly for strength training. Here I am, never having heard of Hyrox before, suddenly doing sled pushes, skiergs and medicine ball wall throws, on top of the more familiar Concept rowers and air bikes. Lots of attention from the instructors (whose credentials are impeccable), and a very involved owner. I haven't done any of the nutritional counseling yet, but this is included as part of the program. All, in all, Forge offers the scheduled group sessions that I already know help keep me accountable (I can never do this on my own at a big box gym), along with an emphasis on tracked progression that will definitely push me to the next level of fitness. Addendum 8/22/26: metrics by DEXA scan (compared to 5/31/25, about when I first started at Forge) show that I (in my late 60s) lost 15.1 lbs of fat mass ( body fat % went from 19.8% to 10.9%) while gaining 5.9 lbs lean mass. Of course I've also been tracking calorie and protein macros (no GLP-1 agonists, though).

First, you get a warm welcome from Coach Kim. She immediately introduces herself and then asks if there are any injuries she should be aware of. This allows her to make any modifications to any of the movements in the workout. Then, throughout class, she keeps an eye on you and comes around to assist you when needed.
