these are peaple that care about animals and that is the most clear. I have had alot of issues with my puppy bandit and they have always got me in quick and followed up with calls. Mostly they have been there to answer all of my (extremely frequent) questions about him and his health. The vet there has taken time to talk to me on many occasions when I was worried because such and such reason and give me advice. Bandit is always happy to go in for his appointment and all the vet techs are supper nice and make him and me feel so comfortable. I really can't recommend this place enough. read more

If you're looking for a vet, you shouldn't look any farther. Dr. Chancey and Dr. Callahan are absolutely phenomenal. I moved to Columbia a couple months ago with my two kittens. I hadn't been very happy with any of my vets back home and since coming to Columbia Pet Hosptial I have moved all my care for my animals there. All the staff is so supportive and have dealt with my weekly calls with understanding since one of my kittens became sick. Both Dr. Chancey and Dr. Callahan spent time with my kittens to get to know them and understand what was going on with them. Other vets will spend maybe 5-10 minutes with the animals and that's not the case here. Really I could write a novel about how amazing Columbia Pet Hospital is and how truly grateful I am for all the staff there. read more

Columbia Pet Hospital was wonderful. R Veterinary is dangerous, neglectful, and unprofessional. Don't bring your loved ones and furbabies here. I will be reporting Angela, Tanner, and the company to the Missouri board immediately. When I called to transfer records for both of my cats from Hortons, schedule visits, and give them general information the women helping me over the phone took their information down incorrectly and scheduled the appointment for my dog. I told her both cats are from the same litter and were born the same day, yet my records from them have them at different ages. My first cat was unable to pass urine so I took her in earlier than the scheduled appointment to have her looked at. Angela gave me a verbal shrug, gave my cat an antiinflammatory, and sent her home telling me to call back if she's still not passing urine. I was also informed my cat would not be getting her vaccines that day because the visit and medications mixed with the vaccines would shock her system. When I got back home I saw they had given her the vaccines anyway. My second cat had blood in his urine but was acting normal. Christine, though eventually helpful, placed her lunch order and chatted with a coworker while I was on the phone asking questions. She said the Dr thought it was strange two cats from the same household were having urinary issues. But maybe if the records were entered in correctly they would have seen they're from the same litter and could possibly have the same health issues. When I was finally able to get him in to see the vet (because of financial restrictions) they held him all day waiting for him to urinate so they could examine it. He did not urinate once from 8 am to 430 pm so Tanner sent him home, also with a verbal shrug, vaccines, and an antiinflammatory. When my cat got home he was unable to walk, he had a lot of blood coming out of his anus and his eyes were rolling in the back of his head. I took him to the emergency vet where they discovered a severe blockage caused by colitis or a foreign body, and he was in so much pain he couldn't stand and was mouth breathing. Now almost $1000 later I may not have my boy tomorrow because he will have to be put down or left at the hospital because I cannot afford surgery or treatment for colitis. Please do not use this vet. If you care about your animals take them anywhere else. read more

They emailed back with a very thorough response explaining to me what happened, promised to have new equipment brought in, and offered me a second visit with a new veterinarian, free of charge. We have been taking our pets here for about 8 years now and have never had a problem. We use to board our cats and they always came home happy and clean. Once they passed away the hospital made it easy on us and helped us with that process. They even sent us a card with a little heart in it with seeds so when we picked a resting place for our cat, we could grow some flowers in that spot. Very sweet. However, we just got back from vacation and we had to board our dog. She has been boarded here at least twice before. We decided the second time that due to her anxiety, we would need to medicate her. So this time we had it all set up and had her meds and even brought her blanket from home and her allergy pills. My husband picked her up today after being there for 6 days and when he got her in the car he noticed this brown ring around her neck. We bathed her right away and while I was bathing her we noticed that her whole chin was raw and the brown ring was dried blood. Her paws were inflamed as well as her belly, which happens when she doesn't take her allergy pills. My husband called and was told "she just wanted to go home and howled a lot but nothing else". He was told that someone from the kennel who watched her would call him back. Never got a call back. He went up there again to pick up her blanket that they forgot to give us and asked if she took her meds. Again, someone who did not take part in her care told us she wouldn't take them because she wouldn't eat. Wouldn't take the anxiety pills either because she wouldn't eat. At no point were we notified. So now we had to pay for anxiety meds, that were basically thrown away according to them, and have to get another refill on her allergy pills, which aren't cheap, because those too were basically thrown away. Not to mention we have to pay to get meds administered as well. We were then told that they could make us an appointment to get her looked at. We were also told a handful of times that the girl talking to my husband was not apart of her care but feels that this might not be the best place to board her. We are so upset and heart broken that our dog had to go through this when she has such horrible separation anxiety. We trusted these people with our baby and to be told "maybe this isn't the best place for her to board" is such a shame. We should be able to trust our vets office and this is just disgusting. read more

This was the only place that could get my dog in the same day, after I got off work at 5! So thankful they got him in and were so nice! The vet took time to talk and play with my dog. Even though they were close soon they didn't try to rush me out or anything. You can tell they really care! Highly recommended and we will be back! read more

If I could rate this business with 10 stars I would. A few weeks ago my dog "Prancer" lost his life after being hit by a car. My husband is a truck driver and was just going thru Columbus, MO overnight to get to Wyoming. He let our doggy out to use the bathroom at the truck stop when all the sudden hundreds of fireworks start going off at 9pm for no apparent reason...it scared our dog so bad and he took off running. Sadly, my husband found our little boy the next morning on the road about a mile away. We are from San Antonio and know no one in Missouri so we did not know what to do with our little boy. My husband moved Prancer to a wooded area and semi buried him and had to reluctantly leave Prancer to continue the delivery of his load that was still on the truck. He was so devastated and had PTSD. The thought of leaving our little boy out there in the woods was absolutely killing us so I decided to look up Pet Cremation on Google and found Columbia Pet Hospital. Crying and devastated, I spoke with Chaunel at Columbia Pet Hospital and told her the situation and asked if they could go pick up Prancer. I gave her the coordinance of exactly where he was located and within the hour they found Prancer. This made us feel so much better, knowing our little boy would come home. Dr. Karen and Chaunel went out of their way to comfort us and took great care of our little boy. They cremated him and shipped Prancer back to San Antonio for us with a beautiful framed paw print. I would like to thank them so much from the bottom of our hearts for being such loving and caring people that took the time to literally, go the extra mile. We LOVE Dr. Allison & all the staff @ Columbia Veterinary Hospital!!!! They took care of our 1st Great Dane, & have been taking care of our current Dane since we brought him in for a puppy wellness check up @ 5 months right after we got him!!! We've used probably just about every service they offer from puppy wellness check ups, to eye surgeries, to getting him neutered, to bladder infection, nail trims,heart worm testing & getting the needed meds to prevent it, & any time he's not been feeling well for variety of needs! As well as when our 1st Great Dane had passed away, we brought him to them to use their on site cremation services! We couldn't ask for a more loving group of people to care for our baby as Dr. Allison & the gang!!! You can tell by how they react to our Dane "Wolfy"' that they really do care about him & enjoy seeing him & taking care of him!!! Everyone has always been nothing less than spectacular when ever we have to come in! And if I have ever come home & come up w/ a question....All I have to do is call them, & I get the needed answers! And they are so wonderful about getting us in quickly when I call....they calm the nerves of this Great Dane Mommy! (ESPECIALLY when he's needed surgeries! Even though I have total confidence in them, I was so nervous dropping him off & handed the leash to them.....but when my tears trickled, the immediately reassured me & calmed me down, & made sure to immediately call me right afterwards the surgery to let me know how great he'd done! I wouldn't take my Danes there unless they were the very best!! We've also used them for boarding! (And I will say.....as the owner/Mommy of a large breed dog....They are so accommodating, & make appropriate adjustments to make sure he's ALWAYS comfortable from when he was boarded to his time there after the surgery while waiting for anesthesia to wear off a bit! With a very appreciative heart we say THANK YOU Dr. Allison & staff! Well we love you all & thank you for the care you have given to "Wolfy", y'all are the best! we don't know what we'd do if you weren't here!!
