We took the Isle of Skye day tour with Kevin and it was lovely. He was friendly, we saw so many lovely things and all the music was good. Thanks Kevin for a grand day we will remember for a long time. Five stars for this. The Hadrian's Wall day tour was less lovely. The guide Ally was nice enough but he talked and talked and talked....on random topics like his feeling that WW3 is imminent and lots of current political opinions. If the group was interested in that it would have been fine, but most on the full bus were completely spaced out or asleep. Four stars for this. My wife and I have taken students on trips to Edinburgh and, of course, as part of the trip we need to visit Loch Ness. 4 years ago we took the tour with Rabbie's and it was wonderful. 2 years ago, we did not book early enough and Rabbie's was completely full for the day we needed, so we went with another tour company. Frankly, that tour was terrible. (Did you know that Trip Advisor deletes some negative reviews?) This year we made sure to book Rabbie's early enough and once again had a great time. Ewan B., the driver, was wonderful. He told lots of very interesting stories along the way and made sure to stop at great places for photos, food and loos. He was also a very good driver and we felt safe at all times. The van itself was clean and very comfortable. Of course, there is a lot to see and do on this full day, long trip (12 hours) so it is not unusual to wish you had some more time at some stops, but that is the sign of a good journey. My family and I took a trip to the Highlands and Loch Ness with Rabbie's and it was a great day! Our tour guide Arron was AMAZING, he was funny, full of great facts and stories and made a 12 hour day seem like nothing. He made it a point to get to know everyone on the bus, our names, where we were from and what we do, he was personable and a ball of energy which is what you need when you're in a passenger van for 12 hour tour. We made stops along the way and each time we stopped Arron had great tips for where to get coffee, go to the rest room and where to a take a good Intsagram picture! He really made the tour great. We had such a great time with the tour from Rabbie's, and it wasn't cheesy or crazy touristy, it was genuine and full of great stories. I learned a lot about Scottish history- especially at Glencoe. I would totally recconment Rabbie's and Arron for any tour of Scotland! LOVED it!!! read more

My wife and I went on a tour from Edinburgh, through Glencoe and up to Loch Ness. It was fabulous. The guide was pleasant, informative and a great singer. This tour and one the following day to Glengoyne and Deanston distilleries served as our "orientation" to what to do and see for the remainder of our vacation. I did the 3 day Isle of Skye tour with my husband and two daughters, and it was so much better than I imagined. Our tour guide Stefan was extremely knowledgeable and also a great driver. Those single lane roads can be very challenging and Stefan drove like he knew every twist and turn. The scenery was breathtaking. The accommodations were very nice as well. We opted for the hotel and stayed at the Rosedale which included breakfast that was delicious. The Granary restaurant in Portree was one of the best restaurants I have ever been. The food was outstanding. It was so good that we went both nights during our stay. The bar across the way was fun as well. I highly recommend Rabbie Tours. It was worth what we paid. read more

I absolutely hate spending money, so when my friend told me she really wanted to go to the Highlands, and that we had to book a tour, I kinda freaked. We looked at some prices and Rabbie's was one of the cheapest (amongst the reasonable ones). We immediately looked at some reviews and since they were good, we booked it. I do not regret the money I spent, at all. I usually don't like these organized tour, since I'd rather explore myself, but you need a tour if you want to do the Highlands. Our guide was Stewart and he was terrific! Super nice, knew so much stuff about the scottish culture and about the Highlands, stopped more than enough times and provided with all necessary, useful and great information about what we saw, did and heard. I am a well seasoned traveler and I usually do not do tours. As I was doing this trip alone, I didn't want to drive through the highlands and miss the chance to have my hands on my camera during the drive, so I caved and found Rabbie's Tours. As someone who typically does not enjoy group tours, Rabbie's won me over and I highly recommend them! I did a one day trip from Edinburgh into the highlands. We had a lovely time and our guide, Paul, was friendly, funny, and very knowledgable. It was wonderful that we were just a group of 16. It allowed for quick stops so we wouldn't miss views. Went on the 3 Day Isle of Skye trip with Glasgow John (aka DJ John, aka John McDermott). The trip was breathtaking--we so lucked out with good weather and I could talk about it forever but instead I want to used this space to talk about my new best friend John. John was a wonderful tour guide, he was witty and packed his dialogue with historic information. He played wonderful music for the entirely long ride which made it so much more enjoyable. He even provided stories and radio transitions in between songs like a proper DJ and specified his playlists to the backgrounds and interests of each passenger on the trip (for ex, playing "New York, New York" for me and a german song from my friend from Munich). He stopped often, taking into consideration everyone's needs for a restroom and coffee without slowing the pace of the trip. He was really quite good at reading the group and adjusting his schedule to accommodate our interests--for example shortly after I freaked out over seeing a pony while we were on the bus, he found a place to stop and let us all pet and take pictures with shetland ponies! He gauged how interested we were in certain picture taking spots and adjusted the allotted time appropriately which is something many other tours do not do--and you get stuck at a place you don't really care about for an hour (which in the limited Scottish winter daylight is precious time). He wore funny hats and posed for pictures with us, hung out with the group after tour hours, and by the end of the trip felt like Scottish family. I would take another Rabbies tour JUST KNOWING John was guding it. This man deserves a raise. He is a wonderful human and kind soul. Absolutely perfect. We went on a one-day "tour of Scotland" -- the west highlands. Nicola was our driver and tour guide. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was and the tour was. Skillful behind the wheel, she had everyone at ease -- and she was able to seamlessly weave her extensive Scottish history knowledge with music and movie references. Pretty awesome. I also really appreciated the small-ish size of the tour -- we were all (14or 15 of us, on a mini-bus. I've also posted this rating at tripadvisor.com. It's about the Rabbie's All Ireland Explorer 9 Day Tour In brief: it was one of the worst holidays we ever spend. I'm aware of the fact that rabbie's always get's fantastic reviews from everyone and I agree with them - but only for the scotland tours. We did the 5 day Highland Explorer Tour two years ago and it was fantastic. I never thought that a group tour could be so exciting. I also stayed in Ireland 3 times before and I was always fascinated about the beautiful countrysides, the nice people and the eventful history. So I thought that nothing could go wrong. Foolish me. On this tour, most of the time was spend by making short photo stops, sitting around waiting or hunting from one supposed sight to another. There were three or four occasions, we were carried to a sight left with no other possibility than doing it or sitting around for two or more hours, drink coffee or tee and wait that the tour goes on. There was really no other chance to do a little walk, see the countryside or something else. On some occasions we were brought to villages, only because John Wayne had made a film there or Charlie Chaplin had been there. But to be honest in some cases we found nice little coffee shops or parks for taking a walk. But I don't remember how often we left the bus at ugly places behind supermarkets, car parks, etc. for lunch break, getting something to drink or making a coffee break. Endless story. That also happened at the beautiful Ring Of Kerry. We stayed only for half an hour at one of the nicest places we had seen on this tour, but for about nearly two hours on a stinking beach, only because Charlie Chaplin had played golf in the nearby golf court. Incomprehensible. Ireland has so much beautiful countrysides, fascinating historical sights and nice villages, it's absolutely incomprehensible that what we got to see, was all what rabbie's was able to offer us. But what finished off this tour at last, were the hotel bookings. A great thing about rabbies is, they give you the chance to decide were you want to spend your night: Hostel, B&B or hotel. You also make a second choice, for cases your first choice isn't available. As we did in Scotland, we decided to stay in hotels, second choice B&B. The reason: if we arrive late and our accommodation is located outside the village, we can take our dinner in the hotel restaurant and have a last drink at the bar. Our experience with this choice were excellent in Scotland (great hotels, great price-performance ratio) and awful on this tour. The first two hotels were in a good price-performance ratio. But on the third day, it was the first stop for two nights, we were taken to a B&B outside Westport. We were not really excited about the fact to stay for two nights outside the city centre, but it was a nice B&B and we thought OK, they didn't got a hotel for us. Another couple that made the same choice like us, was absolutely annoyed that rabbies pointed out they weren't able to find a hotel in a village like Westport. They had a confrontation with rabbies, where we were also mentioned as dissatisfied (yes, we were), and at the end they got their hotel. We were also asked to stay in the same hotel, and we said yes. Maybe it sounds snobbish to want a hotel instead of an outside located B&B, but this was one reason we choose rabbies. After that, we stayed for the last four days only in extremely overrated and overpriced downtown hotels. I don't know if rabbies had changed the bookings after that confrontation or if we were booked there from the first day of our tour. The difference in between the average price of our first two hotels and all the other was about 40 Euros. Really hard to imagine that there was no connection. After all this it wasn't any fun anymore and we couldn't await to get home. I never spend a holiday thinking, when will it be over at last. This was my first. And as in the beginning of my terribly long text, it could be said in brief: Never again rabbies. read more

I took the Rabbie's Tour from Glasgow to Loch Ness, Glencoe, and the Highlands with Stewart. We covered a lot of ground on this day trip. We stopped for photos of the magnificent highland landscapes several times. The optional Loch Ness boat tour was worth it for the views. My husband and I went on our honeymoon after our wedding in mid-March. Our destinations were Ireland and Scotland. The day we arrived in Edinburgh, we decided to look up tours for the next day. Most tours we looked up were booked, but we found availability on one of Rabbie's tour starting in Edinburgh, to the Highlands, and then Loch Ness. Out of all the tours we took on our honeymoon, this is the only one we still talk about 3 months later. The tour itself was incredible. The Highlands were stunning, we made multiple stops for some gorgeous photo ops. Afterwards we made our way to Loch Ness, unfortunately we had no sighting of Nessie, but none the less it was a fun experience. The best part of our tour though, was our tour guide, his name was Ally. My husband and I sat near the front of the bus, when Ally wasn't giving the tour he would answer any questions we had, and would also ask us questions. He asked us questions about our wedding, and even at the end of our tour when we were driving back, he played his and his wife's wedding song. He made a great tour even better, I would definitely recommend this tour and our tour guide Ally as well! Thank you for adding such a fun experience to our honeymoon agenda! read more

We took five Rabbie's Tours during our 2-week vacation in August 2017 and greatly enjoyed every one of them! Our first tour guide was Martin, who was accompanied by a driver, Norman (or Gordon, I forget). Martin is undertaking a Ph.D. in linguistics -- a very impressive young man. He was extremely well versed in Scottish history and lore, as was our second guide, Stevie D. Stevie was peppy and brilliant, too. Subsequent guides Eric (good-looking reddish blond with a beard), Fran (a natural born storyteller) and Dave were all simply brilliant, enthusiastic and engaging. It's a tribute to Rabbie's that all of their employees are truly personable, intelligent and articulate. We'll definitely recommend this company to anyone visiting Scotland! read more

When we signed up for a tour to Loch Ness I was worried it was going to be boring and too old for us, but boy were we surprised. Thank goodness we got an amazing guide in Shelby. She made the entire trip so fun cracking jokes and pointing out so many cool sights. Shelby also had an amazing eye for finding the perfect spot to stop and take pictures. Audrey, our tour guide for a one-day tour of the Highlands, was very enthusiastic and proud of being Scottish. A recent Rabbies hire, she told stories of Scottish history, myth, trivia, and geography, all in a self-deprecating manner. The tour only accommodated 16 people per bus so it was a perfect size without being too large a group. The tour went to Glencoe, Fort William, the Calendonian Canal, Fort Augustus which was on the edge of Loch Ness and the stopping point for lunch, and Pitlochry. Despite the rainy day, it was very enjoyable and Audrey was a great tour guide. She also gave tour members different tips for places to go and things to do in and around Edinburgh. As it turned out, my niece left her mobile phone on the bus and it was returned to her within days. This tour was well worth the cost. read more

Went on the Loch Ness, Glencoe & Highlands Day Tour - had Jonathan as a driver. Great time all around. Jonathan did great job narrating - providing us with enough information. He stopped plenty of times to ensure we had enough bathroom breaks and snacks. We spent about 1-1/2 hours at Loch Ness for lunch and viewing. Loch Ness is surprisingly not overly touristy - plenty of nice little restaurants and shops - if it were the states, we plaster every square inch with Nessie crap. read more

Rabbie's is an outstanding tour company. I was too nervous to drive on the left, so for the first time ever, my adult kid and I went the tour bus route. So glad we did! We took two day trips in April 2016, both from Glasgow, and were delighted with the experiences: a tour of Culzean Castle, Burns Country & the Ayrshire Coast, and a trip to Oban, Glencoe, the Highland Lochs & Castles. She still talks about Culzean Castle (and its great cafe for lunch)--on that trip I was thrilled to learn that our tour guide Graham (so pleasant and patient with our group) was also a huge fan of the iconic film The Wicker Man (1973 version, please), filmed in part at the castle. The docents there didn't blink when I asked if it was haunted, and one claimed to have seen a ghost or two. But we had an even better time in the Highlands (mainly because there was only one other person on the tour, so we were really spoiled). The amazing Dougie was our guide and a true Renaissance man he is--he knows so much about Scotland's music, history, archaeology, geography and politics. He was so proud of beautiful Scotland and he knew all the cool little places to stop (try the potato soup at the takeout cafe in Inveraray!). It felt like a road trip with a great friend. Both guides gave us enough time to look around wherever we stopped--we never felt rushed or herded. Enjoyed it all, although we could have skipped the wind farm stop on the Ayrshire tour. Comfortable, roomy vans. The prices were ridiculously reasonable, too. Looking forward to returning to visit Orkney and the Shetland Islands with Rabbie's! read more

Did a day long tour of the highlands and various loch's (including Loch Ness) with Rabbie's. Our tour guide, Ally, was awesome. His great pride and love for Scotland shined throughout the tour and he was a wealth of history factoids. Additionally, he was funny and had excellent music taste. We had a 16 passenger mini bus, which is much nicer than the larger bus tours. I would go on a Rabbie's tour again, but would probably opt for a multi day versus packing everything into one day. read more

I wanted something "different" for my second trip to Scotland so I chose the Hadrian's Wall/Roman Britain/Borderlands tour which promised an angle to Scottish/British history that is often overlooked with the attention to the Jacobites. The trip departed as scheduled with around 16 people in a minivan and Sean was our tour guide. He was really wonderful throughout the 11 hours, lively, informative, and avowedly committed to Rabbie's rather humanitarian mission to "Make the world a better place through travel." We visited the Scottish border for some fun pictures along the laughable border fence, then to Jedsburgh where Mary Queen of Scots resided and indeed almost died and where an abbey lies in ruins in the wake of Henry VIII's wrath, to Hadrian's wall for a 45 minute walk and the highlight of the tour, a visit to the Roman fort of Vindolanda (and lunch at a cafe) in England. On the way back we made a few more quick stops along the wall and in the small town of Moffat before taking the scenic route to Edinburgh. Overall a great day, especially for those interested in all things historic, and a great value--I think I paid 59 pounds. Note: you have to pay 7 pounds to enter Vindolanda, but they take credit cards. The Jedsburgh abbey also charges an admittance fee, but Mary Queen of Scots house does not. I would bring snacks as it is a long ride even with the breaks and lunch (around 1PM), and also bring layers because the weather changes quickly, and walking shoes with a good sole. Plan to arrive back before 7PM. read more

I did the 4 day tour to the Isle of Skye with Ewan McCloud. He definitely made our tour extraordinary adventure. The sites and locations we visited were breathtaking. Ewan made sure we were taken care of at every stop making sure we had access to food/drinks and toilets. He also stopped for the best photography moments. Ewan's commentary throughout the tour made him invaluable. He gave us historical information, folklore and his own experience from living in the highlands. I highly recommend this fantastic and Ewan as a superb guide! read more

Hubby and I did the 9-day tour of Scotland which included Orkney and the Hebrides. Only one word describes it - Awesome! For the first half of the tour our guide was George, a lovely man with a good sense of humor and an obvious love of his country's history. The second half of the tour our guide was Eric, who loved to sing to us and appreciated the beauty of Scotland, and was pleased to share it. The hotels Rabbie's booked were mostly excellent, and all you had to do was say you were on a Rabbie's tour and the hotel staff could not assist you fast enough. The bus was clean and comfortable, both drivers were extremely competent and polite to other motorists. There were plenty of comfort stops, which is of concern to some. All in all, a very enjoyable vacation. read more

Best tour ever! We did the 10 hour tour of Hadrian's Wall and Roman fort Vindolandia. At first I was worried about a long day but ended up being one of the best days we had on vacation. We had Ally as a tour guide- cannot say enough about how AWESOME he was. Unbelievable gift of memory, trivia, musical interludes to match the mood of the travel and general coolness. We saw so much more than the 2 sites we signed up for- the side trips were an excellent addition to our experience. Plenty of opportunities to get off the bus and stretch your legs, grab something to eat and bathroom breaks. Well-organized, not too big and great pace. We booked the one day tour of St. Andrews and left Edinburgh early that day. Setting the trip up was super easy. The company is a well oiled machine. Van seated 15+ people and was new, clean with large windows on both sides so great for viewing the scenery. Our guide Richard was great. Very knowledgeable but didn't ramble on incessantly like some guides do. Dropped us off in St. Andrews and gave us some tips which we followed. Lunch at the Tail End was a good stop. Town is super easy to walk around as is the golf course which was amazing. Can't believe they let you walk around the course which you do at your own risk. Walking path goes in between the two courses and the level of golfers is broad. Be ready to duck. Overall it was a great day. Was impressed with the tour company and our guide. Highly recommend. Cost was $227 for 4 of us. read more

Never did a package tour before, thinking its just too 'packaged' and lacks that sense of discovery when you explore a place on your own. Well with only one day to spend in highlands, we kinda had to resort to a 'day tour' and i couldn't have chosen a better group than Rabbie's. It was exactly what it was set out to be, a trip through some of the major locations of scottish highlands, with short stops here and there (an hour and a half at the Loch ness!).....but what made it all the more better was our awesome guide: Jeff Adams. An ex-scottish policeman, standing a feet above the rest of us, is just the best person to show you around scottish highlands if you are short on time. He shared some really interesting tid-bits about scotland and the major sights we drove by (in a nice comfy Mercedes van), things you wont find in any travel books, keeping us entertained all through the day! If you are ever in edinburgh and want to check out the highlands in a day, do the rabbies day tour and see if you can ask for Jeff to be your driver/guide, you will love it! read more
