I was helped first by woman and then she turned me over to a young man who actually sharpens the knives. Since there were so many knives I asked if I could just leave them and pick them up later. No problem. The young man took my phone number and I left. He called a day later to say they were ready. I went today to pick up my knives and they charged me $6.99 per knife! Almost $70! NO ONE at the store or in the phone message EVER mentioned a charge, and there was no documentation given to me when I left the knives. Just a friendly "I'll call you when they're ready". When I talked with the manager about it today, he did say that the $6.99 is written on the machine. I never saw it. He offered me a $5.00 off coupon. Really???Part of good customer service is tell your customer when there is a service charge like this. A receipt for my knives with the cost shown also would have let me know before they were sharpened, and I could have said no. Bad move, Ace Hardware.

I walk in most of the time knowing what I need in a general sense, but need guidance. Never once have I had to flag someone down or look for someone to help me. They find ME! Whether it's in the gift shop or the main store... everyone is always so kind, and helpful! Today... I called to ask if they sold replacement tops for a tumbler I bought there. They could have said "no" and hung up, but someone decided to look it up on the tumblers website while I was on hold, and told me that the website sold the tops and I could get one there! How kind is that?!? My grandparents were owners of a general store... and this is how I remember them treating people! I love this place!

It's a family business down to the china the meals are served on. The tea room is beautifully kept and inviting. Loved the sampler lunch with pimento cheese, chicken salad and cucumber dill sandwiches and great tomato basil soup too. Next time I will make sure to save room for dessert as well. I had iced tea but they had a very nice selection of Ahmad tea for hot tea. The owner and staff were absolutely lovely and even arranged a comfy little place next to our table for my friends baby boy to lie and play on while we ate. We enjoyed browsing the cute gift shop in the front of the building as well. Such a nice place to enjoy lunch and I look forward to going back!

This is the first time it has been used as a gift shop and tea room. Everything is authentic down to the antique plates, Silverware and stemware. Warm and cozy it's got country charm everywhere. Once you get to the back Tea Room you'll be given a simple menu to choose from and nothing on it is less than delicious. The hot tomato basil soup was served in a teacup. So cute!! With a generous portion of quiche for my main course, the side dish stole the show. The best broccoli salad I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend stopping by for a nibble and a shop. I would also recommend the peach tea and buttermilk pie. The menu may change as they repair their food fresh daily. You won't find food processors here, it's all done by hand with love.

The customer service is always excellent, and you can always find something, especially if you're in need of a gift for someone. Prices range from high-end items to fun finds below $20. I love the Mudpie, Brighton, Royal Standard, and fun Louisianan items (my NOLA-raised self definitely appreciates them). I bought a Louisiana-themed tea towel, and an associate offered to hold it at the register until checkout. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but she was so incredibly helpful. The reason I'm removing a star is because when we first entered the store, despite being greeted, we were heavily watched and followed while we browsed Tyler Candle and Mackenzie Childs products. I own several items from both companies, yet when we got in the car, my mom remarked how uncomfortable it made her feel. I absolutely agree. I realize they've probably had theft issues, especially with the close proximity to the freeway, and I know Mackenzie Childs products are a pretty penny (as well as fragile), but glaring at customers and staying within a few feet of them the entire time they're browsing products is a bit overboard. Fortunately, as we continued through the store, the micromanagement died way down. I would have been more at ease if I could have freely shopped the entry area, and my mom probably would have bought something. The customer service and vast selection are 1000% worth the four stars.

I understand if maybe this place has a lot of shoplifters but I felt as if this was too much. Again, great products and I love the unique items this place has but if it wasn't for being followed to the point even my boyfriend was uncomfortable I would come back again. I almost walked out honestly without buying anything, and I kept feeling like maybe this was because of my skin color or because of our age group that we are in. Do better please.. I came to spend money not steal and would like to be treated as such.
