Over the past year, I had been casually looking online for a new home. We were happy in our current home, but if the "perfect" house popped up on the market, we were definitely willing to move. During 4th of July weekend, the home we had been waiting for finally appeared on the market. I texted Laurie at 8pm asking if we could tour the home the next morning. Laurie was super flexible and made it work, even with her busy schedule. She took us to the property we were interested in, as well as a few other homes so we had some comparables. We never felt rushed during the process and if we asked Laurie for her opinion, she was honest and very insightful! By the afternoon, my husband and I decided to make an offer on the house! However, we had to list and sell our current home in order to purchase the new one! Within ~72 hours, Laurie was able to list/sell our home, and get our offer submitted/accepted for the new house. During the close process, we ran into a few unforeseen obstacles (none of which any of us had control over). She even came to our new home after we moved in to bring us gifts and see how everything was going. Long story: My husband and I were moving from Colorado to Oregon and needed a realtor who could show us around while we were in town looking for a week, as well as check out houses when we weren't in town. During our visit, Laurie did a wonderful job of not only setting up showings at the houses we wanted to see but also recommending a few more she thought we might like. We didn't find the house in the first trip, but she stayed in touch with us when we were back in Colorado. When we did find one that we liked, she drove over and Facetimed with us so we could get a virtual tour. She let us know the pros and cons of the house and neighborhood so we could make a decision. She was very much on top of things when we decided to put in an offer and because of that we got it! Since we weren't living in Oregon yet, having her nearby the house was very helpful. Laura grew up here so she knows the area inside and out. Laura searched whatever parameters we wanted, and when we wanted to tweak our parameters from time to time, she did so with no complaint. When we did our own searching online, she gladly took us to see anything we wanted, but she was also able to warn us if the homes we had found backed up to a busy road or were in a less desirable area, which saved us time. She even answered all of our questions about living in the Pacific Northwest, which was very helpful as we are new to this climate and culture. One thing that stands out to both my husband and myself was that at one point in the process, we changed our minds from buying new construction to buying a home that was 6 years old. When we told Laura about our decision, she did what we wanted without question and without trying to talk us out of our decision. She just went straight to helping us get details about the 6-year-old home, even though this would mean more work for her and probably less commission. She really just wanted us to find what would work best for our family. We ended up buying new construction in the end. I got the feeling throughout this process that Laura just really loves what she does. She's so knowledgeable about the the whole process and she's very good at explaining what is happening within the process. We felt safe knowing that she was helping us find the right home for our family. She was quick to respond to texts and phone calls, even though she had other things going on... it was summer and she had family in town visiting. I absolutely hate confrontation. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've tried to work…read morewith the owner of this business, but my neighbors and I have had a really difficult time with this company. They are building a huge spec house on our street, and they have done nothing to earn trust in the neighborhood. They have blocked the road without warning the neighbors or the school district, so parents have had to scramble to get kids to school when the bus couldn't get through on multiple occasions. They are building the house on an extremely steep hill with very little space to store building materials or park cars, and yet there is zero signage or anything warning drivers as they turn the corner. This company could have started out by attending a neighborhood meeting, introducing themselves, communicating their plan and schedule, acknowledging that they would be cutting down a bunch of very large Douglas Firs along a watershed, acknowledging that they would be changing the view for people whose homes used to look out at the forest. They didn't. They could have put fliers on the doors or in mail boxes letting us know that there will be some inconveniences in the coming weeks, but they didn't. When people complained about safety concerns, the owner was rude and dismissive. I have dealt with other developers who have tried to create good will among neighbors, and those small efforts made a difference. Eric Rystadt did not and ended up making a lot of neighbors extremely angry. I hope potential home buyers will be aware of this company's business practices.
