We got there before they were even open. There was already a line of cars that clearly stressed out the staff overseeing the entrance. At one point, one guy started running and told everyone they needed to turn right around and were then told to drive to the other side. A few cars were let in. We assumed they were staff. We were directed towards the huge parking lot which seemed more like the actual entrance. The first thing we saw was the massive statue. We did take some time to enjoy the flowers outside and the rest of things to be seen before going inside. Realistically, you really only need a couple hours. As soon as we entered the main building, numerous volunteers were available if you needed help, directions or whatever else. Our group of 4 started out together then we separated and did our own thing. I mostly followed the signs telling you where you should walk towards. My favorite thing was standing in the middle of a mandala on the floor then I would stare up and marble at the artistry. Every corner looked the same yet different. I took the time to read the description on the displays. Some folks were more fascinating than others, imho. We made sure to watch the short documentary playing in one of the theaters then grabbed a bite at the small cafe serving coffee, chain and some small bites. They also have a school style cafeteria where you can have hot foods. We didn't partake as we had lunch plans. We did however make sure to visit their gift shop where I ended up buying an unnecessary amount of incense. Shockingly, their pricing was very low. I'm from SoCal and typically get my incense from crystal shops or Venice Beach and the selection here was cheaper and smelled far better. The women in the shop were so nice and friendly. A must visit if you're in the area. I'm going to be visiting the one in SoCal when I get back home.

Respectfully I chose my own cultural clothing to show respect while I am there . And everyone loved & appreciated that where ever I was going . All the volunteers are absolutely amazing besides one. I almost cried & thought of leaving immediately. But some older gentleman reminded me not to ruin my peace & happy journey here for just one person. She was so racist, mean, have no idea how to treat people. I was probably one of the first hijaby she met on a Hindu temple and her heart couldn't take it ! I grow up with a father who was very close to culture, different religions never bothered him while making friends. Most of his friends are Hindu actually & we grow up like one family. So going to a temple & showing respect isn't new to me. I was gonna make a written complaint but I have decided to let it go & be a better person! If you are residing in New Jersey then you should not miss this temple. One of my all time favorite 'Awe' moments! There is a section where you are not allowed to take any pictures, that's the area I feel like not leaving ! A must see . If you wanna do a photoshoot try to make an appointment in advance, so they don't give you any problems. I don't think you have to pay anything for that , I am not sure though. But most of the areas you can definitely take pictures as much as you want with your phone . They have a big cafeteria, and the food is good . They also have a gift shop and as a South Asian I was shocked how cheap the items are considering outside in any other places. Thanks to one of our relatives who pointed us to this temple. This Hindu temple has deities in the forms worshipped in the eastern part of India - Kolkata. They deities look so beautiful to the eyes and wonderfully adorned in silk clothing. The temple has a large hall and at the farther end of it has the deities lined up from left to right. The priest warmly welcomed us and invited us to visit in the future again. They have a decent parking space and mandates mask-wearing. I'm not sure if this place is handicap-friendly as there are few stairs in order to climb to the ground level.

In the basement, activities take place. They have their website where activities list are placed and they are very punctual about timings of Puja. Unlike other Pujas in NJ, they don't force you to make a donation ( though we do our part whenever we visit). if you are in a nearby area, you should consider coming to this temple once. we love to keep coming here

The temple is huge, well maintained and all the Covid precautions are in place. There's ample of parking space outside. Once you enter the temple from the side door, there will be a temperature check and after that, you go upstairs where you'd see all the idols. The one clever thing that the people working here have done is that they have installed one entry and exit point so that there's only one way from start to finish to see all the idols, get blessings, pray and worship once inside. They have arranged this fence type barrier and you follow along throughout, seeing all the magnificent idols at display. Apart from the beautiful idols, they also do various pooja/ archana for a reasonable price. You can get the details before entering the main floor. There's also a canteen located at walking distance from the temple with plenty of food items on the menu. The canteen is run by volunteers (as far as I could tell) and the menu is your typical South Indian styled food items like Dosa, vada, idli and a few more along with beverages like tea and coffee. We had a few different varieties of dosas, Idli & Vada combo, coffee and kesari. The food on offering was just ok with mild toned down flavors. The temple has a calming vibe, it's peaceful and a place for devotees to gather and be one with the divine. A must visit temple if you're around.

We visited the Bridgewater Temple hoping to create a similar, meaningful devotional memory with family friends who were visiting from out of state. Unfortunately, our visit turned into a deeply distressing and dark experience that stood in stark contrast to everything we have come to expect from Hindu temples in the USA. ​Following the alankaram service, we remained quietly in a corner of the main temple area while waiting for a family member to return from the parking lot. We were mindful of our children, ensuring they remained quiet and respectful of the sanctity of the space. We were speaking softly among ourselves, making a conscious effort not to disturb others. ​Despite our quiet demeanor, a volunteer approached us in an aggressive manner, forcefully placing a "silence" placard into the hands of one of the women in our group. He then proceeded to humiliate her publicly, refusing to listen to our apologies or accept that we were already being respectful. To our shock, a senior priest emerged and, rather than de-escalating the situation, chose to encourage this volunteer's aggressive behavior. ​We immediately removed ourselves from the premises, but we left feeling deeply hurt. As followers of Sanatan Dharma, we have always been taught that temples are places of peace, inclusivity, and dignity. There is no justification for the public humiliation of a woman or such a blatant display of disrespect. This entire situation could have been handled with basic human decency and a polite request, which we would have happily honored. ​We are incredibly saddened that our search for a place of worship on the East Coast began with such an unkind experience. We hope the leadership of this temple takes a moment to reflect on how their volunteers and staff treat devotees. True devotion should be reflected in how we treat one another.

I visited the Sri Mahaperiyava Temple in Flemington, NJ for the first time and felt truly blessed…read more It's a Shaivite temple where Mahaperiyava is revered as an avatar of Lord Shiva. Inside, the Kamakshi Ammavaru mandapam immediately caught my attention -- the walls are adorned with small, beautiful idols of Mahakali, Rajarajeshwari, Ardhanareeshwari, Varahi, and Bhairavam. The Kamakshi Ammavaru vigraham is very small, yet incredibly divine and captivating. There is another building next to the temple that includes an auditorium hall and a basement. In the basement, annadanam is served on weekends at 12:30 pm by dedicated volunteer devotees.

I am Sanatani Hindu and I don't differentiate between any gods (as we all Hindus know, we have 33 koti of Devi-Devtas) so any Hindu temple is for me, is medium to connect with god.
