Im Back again because its such a beautiful place. This time i took my dad. Went during the week when there is less people, and the weather was better. Couldn't wait to visit the gift shop for more Incense because I was running out. There are great finds there. Vitamins ect .. I am also excited for later this year on their new project. Their new museum they are building will have replicas, immersive dioramas and shows! Such a peaceful place, everyone is do nice, well organized, make sure you visit website for rules and dress codes. They are closed Tuesdays!

Always wanted to visit this Hindu Temple. It is so impressive with all the intricate carvings and beautiful handcrafted statues and inlaid flooring. The main Temple is all in white for purity and cleansing. This is where you would go to pray. It's on 185 acres of land and they are still building. They are planning to open up a museum and adding more crafts to show the public and to tell more of their story of humanity. They currently have over 20,000 pieces of art and sculptures. This was one of the most interesting sites to visit, next to the Vatican in Rome. Certainly recommend a visit and give a donation as a thank you

Been there twice, will go again this year. Absolutely love this place. The temples, sculptures, statues, artifacts. Amazing transcendental experience.

Visiting the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardam is such a welcoming and information filled visit. I myself am not a Hindu, but I do love to explore and visit places of worship worldwide. This was my first ever visit to a Hindu Temple, and it's also the largest of its kind in the United States of America. I felt welcomed in at all times. The parking and signage was super easy and there was a general flow to the tour. It is recommended that you get a free reservation if visiting during a busy or holiday weekend. The tour was mostly indoors, but there will be outdoor sections, so come prepped for the weather. There was a very popular food location at the end. I toured but did not partake in a full meal, but I did grab some snack items for my drive afterwards that were fairly priced. During my tour I was approached and given a background of the religion and why the temple mattered. The location is impressive, easy to visit and recommended by myself as a future stop.

Despite my aversion to organized religion. I felt compelled to visit. The grounds are beautiful and spacious, but restricted. As renovations are taking place much of the grounds were off limits. I came here expecting a peaceful sanctuary where I would feel the calm and serenity one does in sacred spaces. What I found was more of a touristy, labyrinth of roped off, cattle shoot style tourist attaction. The temple and grounds here are magnificent. However, the solitude and calm I expected to feel eluded me. In a place of prayer so many people not following the basic rules of not taking photos in the sacred spaces, others unhooking chained barriers to take photos and the overall volume of the visitors made it more of an exhibit rather than a temple. The carvings are intricate and intense. The welcome video states the main pieces were created in India and shipped over and put together puzzle style. Much of the other work is claimed to be done by "volunteers." Yet they were investigated in May 2021 for alleged human trafficking and forced labor. The claim was closed in September 2025 for insufficient evidence. There is still a current civil lawsuit ongoing. The grounds are beautiful but crowded even on a weekday. It is a venue worth visiting as it is a free attraction but don't expect the zen, connected, feeling you would expect on holy grounds.

This is such a gem to have in New Jersey. It is the largest Hindu temple in the US and truly makes you feel like you have left the country. My husband and I recently took a day trip here to visit and it was remarkable. The amount of detail and love that was put into creating this beautiful place was just amazing to witness in person. From the moment we got to the parking lot up until we left...there was so much to look at, read and appreciate here. We did not eat here but they did have a food court, a gift shop and a mini food mart here as well.

Beautiful temple in NJ that's is definately worth a trip! Free to enter at all times. If you decide to go on the weekend or during a holiday, make sure to make reservations. They are also closed every Tuesday. They do have a dress code so be sure to adhere to that to show respect. Nothing overly revealing, no shorts/dresses above the knees, no tank tops. Be sure to wear socks as if you decide to go inside one of the temples, you are required to remove your shoes. Plan for a few hours here, especially if you want to take pictures. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a café located inside along with a grocery store and gift shop.

BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham blew me away. The temple is massive and beautifully detailed--every inch feels like a work of art. It is the most beautiful temple I have ever visit in the states. It's peaceful, clean, and has a calm energy. You don't need to be religious to appreciate it; the architecture alone is worth the trip. There is a dress code (no shorts or sleeveless tops), and you'll want to reserve a timed entry slot online (it is free!). Staff and volunteers are friendly -- the lady at the coffee station hooked me up with a black iced coffee, which was off the menu -- she felt like a new friend! There's also a gift shop for souvenirs. Overall, it's an inspiring spot and I hope more people come through to experience how magical this temple is. A rare find in NJ!

This was a beautiful and amazing experience! Every detail is unique, intricate and beautiful! You have to make reservations on the website for tickets, you can do it when you show up there, it's a quick process. Plenty of parking. Shop has some nice trinkets for purchase and it's reasonably priced. If you haven't gone, go and experience it.

Absolutely beautiful! No matter your religion you can appreciate the buildings, the history, and culture. I recommend getting a ticket in advance. It does get crowded. There is also a cafe with food! A store for shopping too.

Largest Hindu temple in Western Hemisphere and after AngkorWat, it is second‑largest Hindu temple in the world (modern era). and highlight is - it features the widest elliptical stone dome ever built for a mandir. a magnificent Hindu temple that happened to be located in suburban New Jersey. I have visited this site in 2019, when it was in progress and main site was not eve started so visiting this after completion- was totally different feeling Akshardham means eternal abode. Thus, the name of the temple in Robbinsville -- Swaminarayan Akshardham -- names the temple as an eternal abode for Swaminarayan. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robbinsville, New Jersey, was first proposed and envisioned by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 1997. He is the fifth spiritual leader in the line of Pramukhs. Construction of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robbinsville, NJ, began in early 2010. The artisans followed guidelines outlined in ancient Vedas, or Hindu scriptures, to ensure accuracy and authenticity. They used hand-carved Italian Carrara marble, Indian pink stone, and limestone to build the Mandir. Specifically, 68,000 cubic feet of Italian marble went into constructing the 12,000 sq. ft. Mandir, which is only the third Mandir of its kind. The stone pieces were shipped to the United States, where an assembly of diverse volunteers, under the guidance of volunteer artisans from India, came together to work on the temple. at the entracne- A 49-foot-tall statue depicting Bhagwan Swaminarayan, who in the Hindu faith is the 17th-century incarnation of God on earth. Everything on this sprawling campus is grand, ornate, and symbolic of a spiritual journey. It uses Bhagwan Swaminarayan's seven-year pilgrimage through India as a metaphor for the visitor's own spiritual journey. No shoes are allowed inside the temple. Visitors must wear socks or go barefooted -- but the floors are heated. No photography is allowed inside the main temple. Inside the welcome center and all outdoor vantage points are fair game. The temple has a gift shop and its own cafeteria that serves food, coffee, and tea.

Wild that such a large Hindu temple exists right in NJ. You can take a bus here easily (was $20 each way) and get there in 1.5 hrs, though there was only one departure time in each direction on the day I went and the bus was packed. The temple is large with many signs explaining the various deities and the history of the temple to tourists. There's nice outdoor areas to admire the structure from afar and enjoy the Ganges river water which seems to be coming out of the water fountain. There's even a temple canteen where you can get a variety of food ranging from curious and "superfoods" to pizza. All dishes are veg and made without onion or garlic which is impressive given how tasty it was! I did find the temple canteen food in Flushing slightly better, but know that's not the highlight of this place.

This was such an interesting experience! I would go back to this with other people. It was free to get in (as long as you reserve a time slot to go). The whole compound was impressive to see and learn about. The only bad thing about the whole day is when I banged my foot inside a temple where you have to walk without shoes and I broke my toe. But that is all on me and no one else. I would highly recommend this as a day trip on the weekend with friends or family

The temple is huge, well maintained and all the Covid precautions are in place. There's ample of parking space outside. Once you enter the temple from the side door, there will be a temperature check and after that, you go upstairs where you'd see all the idols. The one clever thing that the people working here have done is that they have installed one entry and exit point so that there's only one way from start to finish to see all the idols, get blessings, pray and worship once inside. They have arranged this fence type barrier and you follow along throughout, seeing all the magnificent idols at display. Apart from the beautiful idols, they also do various pooja/ archana for a reasonable price. You can get the details before entering the main floor. There's also a canteen located at walking distance from the temple with plenty of food items on the menu. The canteen is run by volunteers (as far as I could tell) and the menu is your typical South Indian styled food items like Dosa, vada, idli and a few more along with beverages like tea and coffee. We had a few different varieties of dosas, Idli & Vada combo, coffee and kesari. The food on offering was just ok with mild toned down flavors. The temple has a calming vibe, it's peaceful and a place for devotees to gather and be one with the divine. A must visit temple if you're around.

Visited this temple for the first time while visiting our relatives in Pennsylvania. The temple is famous for featuring the tallest statue/idol of one of our famous Gods, Lord Hanuman (our beloved monkey faced God) known for his incredible might and devotion to Lord Rama. He stands 25 feet tall outside the main temple and will soon be accompanied by the Dhyana Hanuman (meditating Hanuman) that will be installed in the temple that will be built in the vicinity. Inside the temple you fill find the main deity of Goddess Mahalakshmi (known for wealth, fortune, power, beauty, fertility and prosperity) in the center of all. While there are other regular Gods you will find inside a temple, we were amazed by the presence of the 27 different idols representing the 27 stars (Mula, Aslesha, Punarvasu etc.) which we have never seen. The temple has a canteen attached to it with nominal pricing and is currently taking donations for the temple expansion. The parking is spacious and the temple is surrounded by greenery and has a calming surrounding. I look forward to coming here more frequently.
