Happily stumbled upon Radio Cafe when we were waiting for our Airbnb next door to be ready. The owner used to be involved with a public radio station during communism, so the place looks like it's been frozen in time with books, magazines, and pictures of political figures, revolutionary activists, and past events. The warm lighting, cozy booths and tables gives an old library vibe. We had a couple hours to kill and the staff were really cool about us taking our time. Everything we had was delicious! The macchiato was made perfectly. The Zurek soup was incredibly comforting and flavorful. The mushroom and sauerkraut Pierogis were about the same as everywhere else, which was consistently good. We finished off with a nice vanilla ice cream, which came with soft cookies and blueberries. It looks like this place hosts events and shows as well. It'd be perfect for poetry slams. read more

Warsaw is full of amazing restaurants and this one has excellent food as well. But it also has a special ambience because of its owner's important ties to Radio Free Europe. Celebrating freedom of the press while eating yummy latkes and salmon was an assignment I gladly accepted. The servers were very friendly and were clearly happy to be there and proud of the history of the place. Pierogis were great and we also enjoyed the beet salad with pears and walnuts. Such a great accidental find in Old Town Warsaw! My first trip to Warsaw, walking around you can't help but to imagine what changes have taken place over the decades. There is so much history here. Coffee and beer and time to charge. I love cozy, dimly lit places like this. To me they're so inviting. After sitting and ordering a beer and cappuccino. The late afternoon turned to evening as I awaited for my girlfriend to meet her mom and brother. Being central to everything and seeing the menu items, we decided that everyone would come join me for dinner. I ordered the Lattkes and salmon. It was good and I enjoyed it. The sausage or steak plates looked delicious as well, my belly is only so big. Had we stayed longer in Warsaw, I would quickly become a regular here to hangout with my laptop with a cappuccino. Amazing restaurant with amazing food! I went with my Polish friend and we both loved it. The history of the place is so interesting with the ability to see a bunch of signatures and notes from worldwide visitors. The owner was quite interesting to talk with as well, and it was a wonderful visit. Despite only being in Warszawa for 4 days, my friend and I came here twice. Decent service but deception with menu For our first dinner in Warsaw, we craved beef stroganoff. A quick google search indicated Radio Café had a good stroganoff, and it was near the Marriott where we were staying. Stroganoff- menu described the beef as filet mignon, but what we were served was very, very low quality, probably round steak. The mushroom were good but the beef was horrible and the sauce was just OK. Pig knuckle- Good but flavor was not great. The skin was only crisp on one side. Total price for our meal: 113 Zl Service: decent service, our waiter worked several tables both inside and out and was struggling to keep up. In Warsaw you just have to eat Polish food and I did at the Radio Cafe. I learned that former Radio Free Europe employees once stationed in Munich are the ones who started this restaurant after the Polish section of the Radio closed after Poland became independent. But about the food...delicious! I ate pickles, kielbasa with fried onions and cold potato salad, all washed down with iced tea and a glass of beer: Żywiec. I also had an opportunity to speak with the cafe's owner, Stash, Stanislaw Pruszyński who worked Radio Free Europe in 1955/56. Great guy, great conversation. Food is good here. I believe an older man owns it, he's super cute. We called before hand to see if they offered French fries for our kids and he assured us that they did. When we went in the waitress told us no but when we told her we called, she ran to the back and then confirmed they have fries. The old man left and appeared with really good French fires. It took a few minutes to get reseated & order, but no big deal--we just waited and enjoyed looking at the photos of previous customers, some celebrities, and collages of famous Poles. We didn't recognize anyone, but hey, we're visitors to Poland. We ordered after waiting 5 minutes. I had the fried pork chop, a Polish favorite. It was crispy, but tender and well seasoned, came with red cabbage cooked to perfection, accompanied with a side of fried potatoes, topped with a sunny side fried egg. Just what I was hoping for, a nice hearty meal at a good value, only $36 Polish dollars , about $9 USA. My wife had the fried spinach perrogi with nice crispy edges & not greasy at all. The dough was thin, not too doughy, accompanied with a small salad. Our friends had the roasted pig's knuckle, a superb dish, the skin was a little crunchy& chewy, meat was excellent, not dry, but melted in your mouth, garnished with mustard & horse radish, also came with an order of fried potatoes. We went here recommended by our Tour Guide. We ran into 2 of our friends from our tour, and two of our groups were already walking towards there, as soon as we got there, we met 2 more from our group, so all 8 of us decided to seat together. The server, moved tables to accommodate our group, even though the restaurant was quite crowded! We asked the server, what was the meaning behind the Radio Cafe. He pointed out the history on the back of the menu, and later the owner sat down to talk with us. He happened to mentioned that he received certificates from a group he had never heard of called Trip Advisor. He was told that his restaurant was rated #10 in the WORLD. He sat with us and talked about his life for about half an hour. I ordered Cabbage Rolls with (rice or potatoes, I picked rice of course), and vegetables. Husband ordered Beef Steak with pepper sauce & vegetables. We both cleaned our plates! The beefsteak melted in his mouth, it was so delicious. The wines that were offered were delicious. Service was supper friendly and a good time was had by all! We paid a surprise visit to Stash (owner) all the way from Los Angeles. The last time we saw him was our first visit in Poland in 2015. This is an excellent restaurant with authentic Polish food. I had the duck, and it was large and delicious. The sausage with onions was also AMAZING. The wait staff was very nice and attentive, and one of them spoke English very well, which was very convenient. I had been told about the Radio Cafe prior to leaving for Poland and as luck would have it, it was right around the corner from where i was staying in Warsaw. The owner, Stash, [we did not meet him although others have] was a cold war dissident and one of the founding fathers of Radio Free Europe which provided news to Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. We were seated immediately and given menus. Our waiter was very personable and attentive. My friend ordered the salmon which came with broccoli , cauliflower, green beans and small roasted potatoes. We were staying in a nearby hotel and found Radio Cafe one of our best meals in Warsaw. It's a block from the Central Railway Station so it's a good place for a meal when you want to avoid the Golden Terraces or anything resembling the Hard Rock Cafe. I am an American who was on vacation and walked by Radio Cafe one day and owner came out and said to try great polish food. He was right! I had the best Perogi with blueberrys I ever tasted!
