Wait times can be horrible, but I think that is true of any medical appointment. Dr. Mentz also often makes snap judgments, but she hasn't lead me wrong yet. I've never had to wait for more than a week to see her, and she is very amicable and listens to your concerns. She never makes me feel dumb for asking questions, and will explain a little bit of the background behind your ailment (eg: Knee pain can be caused by...). She will take as much time with you as you need. While I think Dr. Mentz is a wonderful doctor, I haven't have any experience with her partners and cannot comment on them.

She is the perfect mix of doctor: she knows all of her patients and cares about their lives, gives them the time they need to explain their problems and to give them weight but she is also totally willing to tell you when it's nothing too. She does run a little late sometimes, but it is usually due to an emergency or a visit to the hospital. The staff is very caring too, and she shares the practice with another doctor. She'll refer you if you need a specialist, and she'll always find the most sensible solution. She tells it like it is. For as long as I stay in Calgary, she will be my family doctor. The catch is: she's so great that she has not been taking new patients for some time. But you can always try!

Definitely not a sterile-looking environment. Dr. Lombard is always fast and gets right to the point. I can see how people might interpret that as cold or rude, but that is exactly what I want from a doctor. The last thing I event wan to do is talk to my physician about dogs or the weekends. I think almost every time I've seen him, the conversation ends with something like, "is there anything else I can do for you today." He also knows his stuff, and is more than willing to discuss options, opinions, and anything else. Add to that the fact that he's very light-hearted and has great communication skills, I can't recommend him highly enough. Unfortunately, he doesn't appear to be taking new patients at present, but he's worth keeping an eye on. Yes, he's just that good.

She was heavy on consent and providing options. She gave me my IUD under general anesthetic!!! Way better experience than my last IUD when I passed out and bleed heavily after insertion. My young neice with endometriosis was also treated by dr. Young and she was believed and given medication options right away to control the pain and progression of endometriosis. She made a difficult appointment for a 13 year old comfortable! My neice was even joking with Dr. Young and left happy. Highly recommend!!!

Lots of vital signs taking. have not seen a single doctor, only nurses. no water fountains , nothing much for food besides the very expensive cafeteria 5min walk away. toilets are dirty. No doctors was available overnight, wait times on the website is laughable at best. Too bad staff and management doesn't have to come in as a regular patient with no special needs. They released me and then my heart started to fail so another ambulance ride unfortunately brought me to Rockyview. One of the doctors asked me if I was a smoker and I told him that I smoke one pack per year but not every year, and since I got so sick I'm never touching a cigarette again. Well he decided to gossip about me to the nurses at emerg and since they were grouped right outside my room with the door open I could here them exclaim "Oh my God she's a SMOKER?!" And they all treated me like shit after, refusing to make eye contact, being rough when touching me and giving a bad attitude when talking to me. One of them almost got vomit on them because he refused to hand me a puke bowl when I asked he said "For what?!" As if I was asking for no reason. Heart failure can also come with really bad nausea just FYI. This is 2025 and people in North America are literally doing the nazi salute and goose stepping over human rights but IM THE VILLAIN because I smoke sometimes? What about people who smoke everyday, every year?! How are they going to be treated? I find it absolutely disgusting that Rockyview staff treat people differently based on their personal opinions. EXCUSE ME MISS BUT ALEX IS NOT IN MY BED and it's hard to sleep with a speaker blaring right in your face so I tried telling HCA and nurses that she keeps paging my bed but no one believed me because it's never happened before so the nurses resorted to gaslighting me "maybe your just hearing things." And "maybe it's coming from somewhere else." Sweetie, it's a speaker that is right in front of my face and it vibrates when someone talks through it. I tried telling them I can hear her page my roommates bed before she pages mine and it only happens when she's on shift, no other receptionists were paging my bed. Finally one of the nurses gave me the benefit of a doubt and taped a pad over the speaker and silence was bliss. But not for long though because why not put someone with heart failure in the same room as a lunatic, cutting up her diaper first thing in the morning and then screaming as loud as possible "NOOOO GO AWAY! SHUT UP! GIVE ME MY KNIFE BACK! I WAS WORKING ON THAT FOR TWO HOURS!" or spending her days angrily commanding me to turn the sun off and yelling louder when I obviously couldn't. She had to make every day and night miserable for everyone, especially the staff, I felt bad some of the nurses in 71 were really nice but got zero respect from her. Speaking of which one didn't take me seriously when I asked for a sponge bath, I know it's not a pleasant thing to do but I wouldn't be asking if I was able to shower, but she made me shower and guess what happened? Couldn't see, felt sick, vomitted at some point and passed out. I came to in the bottom of the shower, naked ofc and this nurse looked at me with disgust and audibly said "ugh!" Like ok I know I'm not pretty to look at but can you keep your bullshit to yourself I literally have heart failure and the warmth and steam made me collapse. Yes, this is controversial for some…read more I support universal health care, but don't quite understand why it should come at a universal low standard. My dentist calls me every 4 months for a cleaning or checkup. When was the last time I had a blood test.?... 10 years! I know many have adequate medical care through established family practices via standard health care, but some don't. I did not. I think I knew something was not right and when I couldn't arrange a standard medical exam through my MD (after 1 year of trying and two misconnects) then I signed up for Copeman. After the intake questions and battery of exams and tests, it was found that essentially everything was off the charts. I was actually in pretty bad shape. Fortunately things were found early enough, I received some expert advice, and was able to get some lifestyle choices turned around before it was too late. The actual facility is centrally located, has easy off-street parking with nice (modern and clean!) offices and waiting room. There are nutritionists, physiotherapists, exercise kinesiologists, nurses, lab staff and counsellors available, but most importantly, physicians who actually take their hand off of the door handle when they talk to you. For lab tests, samples are all taken on site. This is the way health care should be. It is not luxurious, unless you compare it to the standard squalid waiting rooms at physicians' offices, usually located in dilapidated medical buildings with antique furnishings and equipment from the 60s. How we have come to accept the current state as acceptable is bewildering to me. While I feel a twinge of liberal guilt about the whole thing, this is a complicated issue with no easy answers. I was not willing to die waiting for politicians and government to figure it out. At $4K/ first year and $2.5K/year following (there are also family plans), it is certainly not for everyone. I am a supporter, and while this kind of service is not the answer to our current delivery problems, it just might be part of the solution.
