I needed a 3am pick up from Florence city to the airport. it wasn't possible to schedule it the night before. I was able to WhatsApp them in the morning and a taxi was an available in 2 mins. I revived a call from the operator when the taxi arrived. it was a 15 mins drive. I had a small hand carry and a paper bag in the boot. The initial cost was €28 but the driver added €8 for the "call and luggage". I find that extortionate. read more

We just took a taxi (Sunday, July 21 at 4 am) from the Duomo (via dei Picori No. 1) to the Firenzi Amerigo Vespucci airport. The taxi company card clearly have it written in their business card that it would cost €30 + luggage fees. We had two pieces of luggage. The total cost is then supposed to be €32. When we got to the airport the taxi driver said the cost was €44, even though the meter clearly indicated €32. He then proceeded to quickly erase the meter and to get impacient. After some unpleasant conversation we eventually ended up paying €40, since we had a flight to catch, knowing only too well that we were being robbed. We will never use on this taxi cab company again. read more

Broke their reservation we made for the next morning on the night prior, to be taken to the train station. Kept my wife and I waiting for a response outside on the street for 30 minutes, after which we took the long walk to the trains. Use another service in Firenze, not 4242. read more

The taxi drivers generally know how to get around the city and around the traffic to your final destination. The taxis are also ok quality..generally I found it to be similar cleanliness of a public transit system. The main concerns I have with it are the lack of standard pricing. For yet same route and more or less the same time...I get different charges every time. Also many are not willing to accept credit card which is an inconvenience. Lastly, the app is nice to all a taxi but frequently, there are no taxis available so I wouldn't count on the taxi to be on time. In many cases you are better off taking public transit and walking. Bottom line...the taxi system is generally able to navigate the city well to get to your final destination: be careful as each taxi driver charges different amounts and also doesn't take credit card in many cases so always have cash as back up. They immediately hung up on me when I started speaking English. Study abroad students need taxis too!! I need to get to the airport to go back home, and maybe if they would listen for one second they would be happy to play a part in getting me out of their country since they hate Americans so much. Terrible service with this taxi provider- to the extent that I created a yelp profile to ensure the word got out. HERTZ car rental cAlled the company to have them take us from the rental station to our rental apartment. The driver (who did not know I had a google map of route) took a roundabout route, and upon arrival tallied out 'E7.90' fare to 'E12.90'. When I asked for details he told me 'bags' and 'because we were called' he then shoved a chart at me with the fee structure, which showed baggage (up to 5 bags) as E1, and call for pickup as E1.96. When I asked for details on the additional difference (E5.00 total) he gave me no reply, only a receipt stating E13.00 total. He left the impression he was trying to make a couple bucks just by catching 'tourists' - not cool! I rarely ever give low ratings, but I feel this one is justly deserved. Let me start by saying the customer service member was rude. I would also like to say she was unhelpful, but that would be giving her too much credit. I called late in the afternoon for a 5 am taxi. After being on hold for 10 minutes, I was abruptly told to "call tomorrow" and hung up on- without a chance to ask a question or get clarification. I was concerned because I never like to wait until the last moment to arrange anything.... especially a taxi ride in a foreign country for an early morning flight. So I call the next morning at 4 am and was treated as poorly as the day before. When I said I needed a taxi, I was told "there are none available" and hung up on again.
