Visited Rafferty's Lake Macquarie for a relaxing family get away. We purchased a Groupon voucher so got a reasonable price. Our room was a little dated but clean. We were quite disappointed with many un-functioning items in the unit. The heater wasn't working, power points weren't working, lack of blankets, lack of toilet paper, lack of dish washing soap, door handles were falling off and the garage door didn't open. The grounds itself were stunning. Some pools were heated and the lake was serene. One downfall we discovered, if wanting to go out at night there is zero transport no courtesy buses, no taxis and no uber are available. We didn't know this prior to booking all up an enjoyable stay however the units need updating and quality checks should be administered. read more

Rafferty's Resort is set on one of the most beautiful places in Lake Macquarie. The resort had many things to do it was laid and a very calm environment. It is located around many activities that were quite enjoyable as well. The resort had easy accessible water activity's which were all fun for cheaper prices. There is always a stunning sunset over the water each day which I think makes the resort how it is. The interior in the room was quite nice and comfortable. However there was some concerning aspect to it that rated my review lower. The park was calm and felt peaceful but this was also because of the lack of people in it there are so many places to stay and in school hoildays most would be packed out and full of kids.However this wasn't the case which made it quite a lonesome place the pool and almost weird. Before i wrote this review I read other ones about the EXACT room we are staying in with the people before us. They had the exact same pest problem covered in German cockroaches it's quite disgusting they poo everywhere and have ruined most of our food. Some where next to my mum when she woke up it was gross. They seem to use the excuse of being in the bush for the reason of it but in hotels in the middle of the bush there have been none. THIS IS A PEST PROBLEM GERMANS COCKROACHES ARENT NATIVE. The sofa bed that we pulled out for a visiting guest was covered in dirt old springs old food crumps and an old coverd in hair brush. the main attraction the jet buzz ride was unavailable whole 7 days we were here. Overall it was nice calming but they need to manage the pest problem and clean better !! read more
