There are a number of different trails to explore that are well marked/kept (similar to all Trustees spaces). After some rain in the area, some of the areas are a bit muddy, so one may want to keep an eye on the weather/bring hiking shoes or other shoes you don't mind getting some mud on. You can also hear the hum of the freeway nearby. I also saw a wild turkey on this hike, which I trailed behind for about 10 minutes, haha! Glad to run into a fellow hiker on this trail! :)

You can rent a kayak and explore the pond in the center of the reservation. Plenty of spots for mountain biking. Sheepfold Dog Park is where I mostly go so I can hike off-leash with my doggy. It's accessible by T (Orange Line to Oak Grove, then about a 10 minute walk to trailhead), but there are also multiple entry points with parking. Visit Fells year-round for beautiful scenery and a lovely time in nature!

The pond was connected to a series of canals and locks , the pond's water was so clean back in the 1880s that it was sought after for ice in Boston. There was actually a ski area on the hill on the west side . Much more history!

It is a very small loop trail with sign posts markings noting some of the natural environment area. It is a very flat and easy walk- with a packed down gravel trail. I recently was taking a walk with a coworker and we can across a flock of turkeys pecking and mulling about! There is a small parking lot and access off Rifle Range Road.

The park is decent but man does it…read morehave some serious flaws that I will address But first the positives; there are about 25 parking spots and if there isn't a softball game going on at the park below, it'll never be full. People are coming and going all the time to the dog area or on a quick hike in the back Its not like the Fells where you have bike warriors revving up for a 30 mile day on the trails and they never leave. The hiking trail that goes around the park and through some pretty desolate wetlands that look like dinosaurs live in them won't take you more than 15 minutes to complete. There are some side trails but most lead to the wetlands and you can't go any further. It's a nice jaunt after work for you and Fido. And then there is the controversial dog park. Firstly, they don't collect any trash here or at other parks in Wilmington so be prepared to take your poop bag with you. I don't know why they couldn't have made an exception here because there are way too many disgusting owners who just leave it behind for the town crew to retrieve. The park itself was built on a hill and its 100% sand. This was a major blunder because the drainage is terrible and either pools at the bottom in a disgusting puddle of dog uuhhmm things, or washes the sand out of the park completely. This really needs to be fixed because it's not going to hold up over time. Most of the dog owners are good even though there are some people who can't seem to realize their pet shouldn't be around others before they end up hurting another in the park. This is great for the area in terms of the benefit it adds but still has a long way to go to become a top notch park.

Not liking the sand kicking up in the air then having to breath it in. So unhealthy for all!

This is a great way to see some history and get a good walk or bike ride in. I went here a few…read moreweeks ago. It wasn't too crowded even on a sunny day. Parking lot might get full but don't worry. Drive a few feet down the road and there are lots all along the route. I parked close to the visitors center. Small gift shop here which had some pretty cool stuff but I thought it was somewhat expensive. I did get there right in time for a short 30 minute movie. I was so happy I got to watch this. Some real cool lighting and a great story. "Road to Revolution" it was called. I highly recommend this! I then walked along the trail called "Battle road". Went for a few miles. There are great signs along the way to tell you about what historical event happened. I will definitely be back here in the fall when all the trees are colorful for a bike ride.

I appreciate that most other dog owners here are chill and that despite all the signs saying not to swim in the pond, the dogs are jumping in there all the time and the park rangers aren't hardcore about enforcement. In the summer, it's important to have a few places you can take your dog where they can still be active but keep cool. And Sheepfold and the surrounding Fells trails is a great place to explore off-leash with your (well-behaved) dogs. Reason I can't give it 5 stars is lack of facilities. No trash cans once past the parking lot. No port-a-potties or bathrooms. No fresh drinking water for dogs or humans. Lack of shade and seating areas in the main part Sheepfold - all there exists is one rickety picnic table under a tree where everyone huddles under when the sun is intense. I would gladly give a recurring monthly donation to the Fells Reservation to have these amenities added!

Great dog park that's not too far from the city. There's a huge field where the dogs can run / play…read morefetch and many trails around there for if you want to get out of the sun or go for a walk yourself (on the trails you're supposed to leash your dog but it's maybe 50/50 but haven't ever seen anyone complain). There's no in-place water source for the dogs, but plenty of people bring water and are happy to share. My pup always has a great time and can't wait to go back!

I usually bike over you can go along the road with a few spots going through bike paths. Overall a beautiful spot. The water is impossible warm even at the beginning on the summer.

DCR official was clearly stoned and gave some excuse about how the higher ups told him not to enforce the rules. No one stopped or did anything. Would avoid except off season and early in the morning. It's gross.
