Rags may be a great place to find items to buy (although prices are still pretty steep relatively speaking), but it's not the best to sell items. The staff is rude and even when you bring in designer items if they don't sell right away they are automatically donated - no chance of getting them back, no phone call warning, nothing. My experience was awful here, and I won't be returning to sell or buy. If the staff was friendlier, I might have considered returning. read more

I definitely won't donate here again. If you miss your window you are totally screwed of any rights to your stuff--and it was a teeny tiny window of 2 days on a weekend! Not worth the stress of something maybe coming up on those days IF you care about what you are selling. YES, of course it was my fault for not making it in during those two days but clearly their system did not work for me. I was selling a pair of high-end impeccable condition designer boots and somehow those got "donated" while the rest of my designer items went to the Cherry Creek location. Apparently they will call me if those sell. I'm hopeful, but skeptical, as the whole thing seems a little fishy to me. read more

I've been a consistent patron of rags however today when I went to consign a few items none were excepted. The reason- we don't take those brands. I tried to consign Banana Republic, Ellen Tracy, BCBG all in mint condition. Be very careful when consigning here - If the pick-up dates on the handwritten consignment contract are written sloppily or with a typo and you come in even a day too late, they will have "donated" your clothing, no matter how expensive. You won't even get an apology. Bye, Rags. read more

They're very disconcerting in what merchandise they'll choose to consign, which leads to a high-end, thoughtful selection. Merchandise also turns-over quickly; I think it can only be listed for up to 30 days. I took my mom (from TX) here, and she had a great customer experience and was tickled by the unique, boutique-quality blouse she scored. The staff has also helped me turn a dress that could look like a floral picnic cloth into a remarkable outdoor festival sundress by helping me choose the right accessories. Tried to consign about 20 pieces of clothing. None of them were accepted! Reason we do not accept these brands. These were brand name cloths New York an co, loft, gap, I would say just as nice if not nicer than most the other stuff out. I am curious what brands they do accept. read more

I like shopping here, although I agree the price is on the higher end, as the other reviewers have mentioned. I hate bringing things in for them to sell, and here is why. I brought in a pair of Frye boots, an Ann Taylor dress, three skirts, two shirts, one jacket, and I only got $26! They take 60%, so this means they sold all of that for $65. The Fry boots alone were supposed to be sold for $48, and their skirts are usually priced around $12-16 per piece, so with all the rest... to me it does not add up. It was not clear if they did not correctly enter all of my items into their system, or if they sold them for an exceptionally cheap price, but I was told there was nothing for me to pick up after the 30 day period, which means they did something with all them, and I did not benefit from it at all. Great store! Huge, organized, but not overwhelming. The store is now organized by COLOR and SIZE! I know that some other reviewers complained that it was by color only. I mentioned that I loved how the store was organized to the woman who rang me up. And she said it was a change they made recently. Very high quality selections. There aren't too many designer choices, but there are definitely good things to be found. I also love that there are small touches like tampons in the bathroom and the kids area if you are a mom. The staff was friendly but not super helpful unless you ask them. I had a great experience overall. read more

Wonderful selection of stylish and reasonably priced clothes. You can get so much more for your money! Also love that the tops are organized by color and then size. Very easy to narrow in on what you know looks good on you. The staff (including the owner herself) are ready and willing to help you with fashion advice or just pulling other similar things if needed. Shopping there is something I really look forward to! I love Rags!! I recently went there to look for a dress for an event, and was pleasantly surprised to find out they had expanded! I guess it had been longer than I thought... I didn't even realize where I was. I think that their new remodel has made it even better than it was before. Tons of awesome clothes, shoes are sorted by size now, and the space makes it much easier to shop. Plus walking through the store is a great workout! Ha Ha Consigning is so easy too. You just drop your stuff off in the back and then start shopping, it'll be all finished when you're done. I always have them donate my clothes once they're expired, so I don't have to worry about picking them up. There's usually a little credit sitting in my account - always nice. In the end I bought a dress and shoes, and a fun top for $50. So much cheaper than I would have found anywhere else. Plus I consigned a few of my things, so I'll probably make that money back (and then some). They also gave me a coupon to their new Denver store. I've reviewed that too.. check it out! read more

I have been going to Rags for years and have recently been very disappointed. I bought a top and got it home only to realize it had a small hole in it, two days later I took it back with the tags still on, and they would not take it back. Not even on consignment credit, they just said no returns! This is not the way to run a business, I have heard that there is a great place in Louisville called Found Underground, I think I'll be going there from now on........... read more

I am sure it is a perfectly great store if you are a buyer BUT if you are a consigner...BEWARE....might not be worth your time....I went in with some BRAND new clothes never worn such as Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein, J. Jill, J. Crew and they wouldn't take them? Huh? They don't take those brands? I just don't understand...recently moved here from South Carolina and they LOVED my clothes there because they were in such great shape and it was a fun experience...not here though...sad....might try Denver but I think I will just hold onto my beautiful clothes.... read more

I refuse to go into this store again. I have been about a dozen times and every time I tell myself I will not go back and now I do not. I have found the staff to be incredibly unfriendly and rude, a bit cold as if they all hate working there, or think that because the can reject or accept your clothing, they have achieved some level of power and treat you accordingly. The last time I went In I had a large bag of clothing for them to go through. The two bitter looking women behind the consignment desk, just stared at me and I heard one mumble to the other, as she saw my bag of clothes, "oh god, here we go." what a fantastic way to feel welcome in a business...uh, a business that relies on customers used products. give me a break. don't waste your time. there are plenty of other fabulous vintage stores in boulder/longmont/denver..places that actually appreciate their customers and don't have such bad attitudes. if it was one time, I would have forgotten it..but this has been a consistent experience at this store. read more

As a CONSIGNER, I've found the staff consistently snooty. 4 stars. Unless you price your stuff yourself, they will give it away just to make a sale. 3 stars. The store was highly successful at a consigner rate of 50% but without notice changed the policy to 40/60 on the itty bitty fine print which you don't read when you've been consigning weekly for years. Greedy. 2 stars. As a SHOPPER, I bought some items and came home to find they had left a pair of earrings out of the bag. I returned to tell them. The earrings weren't there which means, someone else saw them and bought them. They told me tough luck! What kind of customer service is that?!! That leaves only one star. If you're desperate and expect a bad experience then this shop is for you! read more

I have consigned here many times and today was the last day I will ever go in there. They are supposed to donate unsold items, however when I went in today, a day after my consignment period ended, to pick up my cash I saw my sunglasses still in the case. The employee told me they were donated, but they were clearly not donated and being sold under someone else's name. This is the second time this has happened to me. Is someone making this mistake regularly or is this a scam. And yes, they are rude. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Love love LOVE Rags! Everytime I go in there I walk out with something fabulous, whether it be brand new shoes, an awesome turquoise ring, designer jeans or a great scarf! Not to mention the compliments I have received! I have been shopping there for 8 years and there have been a few employees who were not as courteous as desired but that can happen anywhere. I find that my shopping experience at Rags now in 2010 is fully satisfying and I love the women who work there. They are very helpful and honest in helping me decide what is flattering and what I need to stay away from! As for pricing, I find that for the most part, everything is fair or even underpriced for some very designer brands! But when it comes to buying plain Jane tee shirts and tanks, I'd rather go to Target and find an inexpensive crisp new shirt. Rags is for the perfect pair of designer denim at a fraction of the cost, and the cute summer shirt you know will catch everyone's eye. read more

There are some reasonable finds here, but I do not understand how they decide what they will/will not accept for consignment. I brought in like-new (as in, worn once, and they were clean and in great condition from the current season) items from Banana Republic, Gap, Ann Taylor, North Face and Patagonia because they just didn't quite fit right. Really, I would give this place a 2.5. I used to really like it, not so much any more. It never bothered me that the racks were organized by color rather than size. Maybe it's just me, but I'm generally shopping by color. It doesn't take long to whip through garments and if one catches your eye, to look at the size. Nice that they're responded to other customers' complaints about this though. I do like that they've added dressing rooms. What has gone downhill for me is the selection, and the customer service. They used to buy more stylish, chic, fashion-forward clothes. There was an older woman there, a buyer, who had a great eye for pieces that had a little more panache, that one could wear with some individuality. Now it's all so common - the buyers are all teenageed girls - teenaged girls with bad attitudes - and the clothes are largely stuff from Nordstrom, with some Boulder outdoorsy and hippie-ish labels thrown in. Seven jeans. Joe's Jeans, Citizens of Humanity. Yawn. I haven't bought anything memorable there in about 3 or 4 years - a gorgeous pair of fuschia reptile Bruno Magli peep-toes, very classic, yes pricey, and worth it, but those silly girls would surely reject them as "outdated". They just don't have the eye, imagination, style or experience to see how something could be put together with some originality. Needless to say, it's probably been about that long since they've bought anything of mine. Note: skinnies have been around for at least 6 years. I know I don't want to buy them anymore! - I haven't worn mine in 2 years now - in fact, that's something in the back of my closet that they MIGHT buy. Basically, the clothing selection has become ordinary. Brass Plum, Savvy, Macy's. They have some upscale accessories and occasionally some designer suits and special occasion dresses. I have to agree that they're overpriced anymore, on thinks like basic tops that you could get new but marked down at the Rack, or used for much less, and in the same condition, at Savers. Seriously. I suppose they would argue that they buy based on what sells, but then, they can only sell what they buy. Maybe they've moved towards a different customer. I love Rags. The prices? I find them perfectly suitable. If you want Rags to offer $4 clothing, you're in the wrong store. I like the staff so it surprises me to see counter feelings. Sometimes we project dissatisfaction instead of being open to good rapport. Sure, your clothing gets rejected and you feel it too but think of all that clothing they must go through. They have that right to select. If they had the space they probably would take more. I miss the old Rags with the comfy couch and the imaginative window displays, but I totally understand the movement toward racks and racks of clothing. (The lighting for the black clothing is an obstacle.) I bet if Rags enlarged to their old furniture consignment space (I SO MISS THAT) it would thrive, and allow for more of that ol' Rags creativity to thrive as well. Don't go away, Rags. I depend on you. It's like borrowing from my sister's closet some really cool clothing. read more

For me, there are very few cons for Rags Consignments and I had to give a 5-star rating because every time I go in to the Boulder Store, I leave with several items-dresses, shirts, skirts, jewelry, shoes. Their prices are high but they have (mostly) nicer brands with a Target brand here and there. Some items are priced a bit high for used gear, but it's still at least half off the retail price. I buy lots of dresses and shoes from Rags. Fly London shoes for $60. This is not cheap, but compared to the retail price of around $130 for these shoes, it's still a deal. I actually like the organization by color of the store-it's been opened up more with the expansion at the Boulder Store. Boutique items are on seperate racks, work-out clothing is at the back near the shoes, etc. Great merchandise, shoes, jewelry. I have not consigned clothes there and can't give an opinion about that. read more

I go here at least twice a week. I've never experienced or seen any of the "rudeness" or drama that other reviewers have mentioned. On the whole, it's cheaper than Common Threads and there is a bigger selection. They sort their dresses, pants, skirts, and gym/outerwear stuff by size, and sometimes the shirts by size. I've scored some amazing stuff here, it's actually where about half of my wardrobe is from. read more

Love this place, they always have some really great pieces that catch my eye and the fact that they rotate merch every Tuesday and have new things in everyday is amazing. People may be complaining about the high prices but they price check everything and a lot of stuff comes with tags, never worn and is generally 1/2 or 1/3 of department price. And for the quality? Worth it. I love the color coordination as well, I know what colors I like and what colors look good on me so it's always an easy browse, the employees are also always helpful and sweet :) read more

The selection and quality are pretty good. Some pieces do seem overpriced but seems like a pretty good deal. However, the customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. No one spoke to me the entire time, and when I approached a staff member to ask how to consign, how to put things on hold, etc., her answers were very short and unfriendly. The workers seemed very annoyed to have to help me. No one offered to hold items for me behind the counter since I was buying a lot; no one offered to start a dressing room - nothing. I spent $400 there and not so much as a hello or a thank you. I don't know why I gave them so much money, but I guess their selection beat out their horrible service and attitudes. Also - they don't take consignments on Sunday - not sure why since the staff aren't doing anything else that day. read more

Has become a big disappointment. I have been a loyal shopper for years. I stopped in weekly on my lunch break and always found something. They don't size their tops anymore. extremely rude staff. I went there on a regular basis when rags first opened. in the past 6 months, i have gotten to the point where i will never return, especially after yesterday. the staff is just incredibly rude. beyond rude. i had one womaqn lecture me in the hallway for not hanging something back on the rack right, and i have MS. i can't always work my hands like i would like. i tried on the pants and then hung them as best i could on the rack where the clothes that have already been tired on go. she came and stopped me as i was walking out of the dressing room and lectured me on how to re-hang pants correctly. i was humilated. i told her of the MS and that i will NEVER be back. their prices are way to high to be told how to hang things, to be made to hang thinsg and in the past - before 6 months ago, i could even get help holding things if needed. now, i get a cruel ignorant snotty lecture. i am so hunilated and i will never ever be back to a store i used to like and will tell everyone i know to never go there. read more

Rags itself is a fantastic store, I love the selection, I love the service- all of the employees there have been very affectionate and nice every time I have been in. I will no longer be shopping at Rags, however, and I cannot advise any other person to support this business for one reason- the manager. I have been in several times over the course of the past few months, and every single time I have seen the manager bring one of her employees to tears. During my most recent visit I heard her screaming at the top of her lungs at an employee, and I simply cannot support a business where the management treats their employees so disrespectfully. In speaking to other customers and several employees, it has become clear to me that this woman is immature, highly passive-aggressive (sounds like she's nice on the floor because she saves her screaming for when she corners her employees alone), and simply not fit for managing a store. I will not be returning to Rags, and I will be actively advocating against anybody else going there for as long as that woman is there (I regret that I don't know her name, if they get new management I will happily return). No business which treats their employees like trash should thrive. read more
