Moving cross-country, bone-weary, stop at a hotel for the night and lock the damn keys into the cab of the moving truck at 1:30 AM. Call multiple places and no one picks up. Finally Rahn's picks up, is perfectly cordial despite my likely slightly deranged tone I likely had from the combination of stress, lack of sleep,and getting eaten alive by super mosquitoes fleeing the truck to the hotel. He lets me know what options we have, gets to us about a half hour after the call and gets the door open, saving the night (and the next morning obviously) as well as taking card for payment for one less thing to have to worry about. You want the guy who's willing to come when it's clearly inconvenient for the other "24-hour" locksmiths, why bother with the rest! read more

I lost the keys to my old work car, it was too old for the dealership to get me another set so they said I needed a locksmith. This company had a decent rating so I called them. This was three p.m. in a Fri. They said it would be the next day before they could come out.(they advertise 24 hr service, obviously they don't adhere to that claim) So Saturday Rolls around and the kid comes out. He supposedly cut 2 keys from the information about my car he entered in to his computer. NEITHER key worked, he said that my ignition was shot.( Funny thing is it worked just fine prior to me losing the keys) he was at my car FOR less than a half an hour and he charges me $100.00 dollars for two keys that don't even fit or work! Awesome prompt service! After locking myself out of the house, I was getting frantic as my cell phone was dying. I called three other locksmiths who had no technician available and left one voice mail. Panic and dark were setting in. Not only did I get a quick response at Rahn's but he was at my door fifteen minutes later. I live in a newly purchased older home, so we decided I should probably get my locks rekeyed while he was there. ( I have no idea how many previous owners, contractors or real estate agents may have had a key to my property). This company charged my grandmother over $500 to order and replace a sliding glass door lock that is $60 retail from Home Depot and amazon. Labor charge alone was $175 for installation. It took 15 minutes. When I asked him for a receipt for his cost of the door lock he refused to provide he price and became extremely defensive about his business practice. No receipt was provided and the threat of court action was brought up for "not minding my own business". Please do not do business with this company. read more

The owner of Rahn's locksmith just left my home and I am livid. Why? Because this man was condescending, misprepresented himself and his services, and after a five minute service that involved using a flat head screwdriver to press open a stuck screendoor lock he charged me $95. He said in our initial phone call that if he did nothing and it did not require additional materials, he might not charge me at all. When I reminded him of that, he told me directly that I did not hear him correctly. After he wedged the door open with the screwdriver and said the fee for his service (mid-week, and inside the city of Lincoln) was $95 I was shocked. I understand service people need to be paid, I have absolutely no problem with that, but $95 for this level of work is exhorbitant. When I pressed him on this, his condescending response was, "Why didn't you do it yourself then?" This locksmith tells me he has been in business for 30 years. I cannot fathom how if this is the way he treats customers. I have utilized services and given services through my own business over the years where no fee was charged, or a significantly reduced fee was collected because no real service was provided. Those are the service providers I continue to call again and again. Rahn's Lock Service will not be one of them. read more
