All items are priced out by double $2.99 is the price for a Macro Bar at Target. $4.09 for the Macro Bar at Rail City Market. The Vanilla bottle is $21 but if you go to Walmart or Target you will see the same bottle priced at $14. If you are someone looking to save money instead of waste it you would not be shopping here. They used to have a small cart by the front but the manager started to hide the cart in the back since coming in with my son who is brown. I live an hour from pretty much everything, so finding bulk foods and certain vegetarian staples present a little more of an issue for me. Although I live close enough to TWO Hannaford supermarkets I find that they don't have everything I tend to look for and that the prices are kind of eh. There are times that I'll drive to Burlington, but luckily I found this place right near my work. The staff there is very helpful (willing to repackage large amounts of food for you if you're single, like me), and the selection includes a large amount of grains and beans for from the ground up cooking. They also have a modest amount of personal care products as well as local artsy pottery and jewelry. I can't complain about the prices, because RCM saves me an hours drive to Burlington and aside from that fact, the prices really aren't as crazy as I'd have guessed. I think this is going to be my staple shopping center while I'm living the dream in Vermont. read more

Looks to be a very interesting menagerie of items appealing to a variety of people. I cook a lot and I saw a few very handy specialty items in there, special Thai spices and stuff like that. Refridgerated foods included many locally-produced cheeses. The aroma of this place transported me right back to Jimbo's Markets in SoCal, what with the special soaps, elixers and spices. Very similar to the holistic-type stores I used to see in SoCal. They have a very excellent selection of humorous cards in there. I was glad to see that because I had been looking for a local source. Interesting art pieces and some jewelry, too. Not an every day store (for me) but a good one if you are looking for something out of the ordinary such as an ingredient or a locally-produced gift. It's the place where we go to make grocery quite often and you're sure it's organic and/or natural, coming from local farmers or companies in Vermont or nearby. All the staff is friendly and they are always kind enough to take heavy bags to your car if necessary. You can find from spices to ground beef to very delicious fresh bread that's not easy to find in town. You can self yourself with a range of products and buy them in bulks which is very cool. There's a department with organic and natural beauty products too and I buy a lot of those bath and soap bars as they have a fantastic scent. read more

One of the first places I visited when we moved to St. Albans. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I love that I can walk here to pick up a few staples and not have to drive all the way to Hannafords for some of our special diet needs. One of the best things is a little play area where I can leave my little one while I shop. She is amused and I can shop and be within hearing distance. Her second favorite part is the 15 cent organic lollypops...she always gets one if she has been good. :) Local foods, bulk foods, organic foods. I love it. read more

The store is in a very cool old building on Main Street. It has a great selection of healthy foods and all-natural products. The jewelry and gifts are very artistic and unique. This is the best place to get your food in the whole of Franklin County! You can buy all types and kinds of grains, nuts, frozen berries, vermont meats, kefir, fermented foods. You name it they've got it. You can buy rice cheaper here that at food city. You can buy small amounts of your favorites so if you don't have a large budget you can still eat well. Buying small amounts the oils in the grains won't go rancid before you get to use them. Teas as well my gosh what an assortment! Vitamins, probiotics bulk spices so you can get just what you need and fresh veggies, gluten free things, chocolate covered sunflower seeds-Mmmmmm! Ginger chews-yeeeeeeeeeeeha!
