Exploring dog parks in Denver and came across this one. It is definitely small but there is a side for smaller dogs. There's not a lot of shade and it's all sand/dirt so in the summer it would be super hot. In a pinch, it would work. Better for smaller dogs, my dogs are bigger and need room to run. read more

Normally the people here are really nice but it is all dirt and your dog will get very dirty. Lots of poop. Also today this guy in picture was picking up his pit bull dog by collar lifting him in the air to where the dog was choking and it was really sad I had to leave. I'm a small girl and didn't want to say anything he was scary, seemed from another country. Maybe he doesn't know animal abuse is illegal in this country. Railyard Dog Park - Dog Parks Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Went with my beagle around 4-5PM on a weekday. Compared to the other dog parks around here, this one is just OK. Great if you're nearby and your dog just needs a quick play. However, my dog loves to run far to play fetch. There wasn't enough room for that...I mean we played fetch, but it wasn't spacious enough to throw a ball with a chuck-it as far as you want. It also looked like a lot of debris near the train track side, which is understandable, but it makes me nervous that there could be something sharp or harmful. Because it isn't huge for the amount of dogs that come, it seemed dogs were starting to get out of hand and owners were just sitting on the benches on their phone so they didn't see or didn't do anything about it if their dog was bullying. There was also a lot more poop here than other dog parks and people were just not picking up after their dogs...I get it, it's a dog park, but compared to others, this one is a 3. read more

After a delicious breakfast at Brider, my boyfriend and I headed over to Railyard Dog Park with our husky puppy to burn his energy before our flight home to San Francisco. This felt more like home, with a younger, more conversational crowd than the one we saw at Stapleton. Railyard is a giant dirt lot (no grass) which was horribly muddied by the recent rainfall. Lots of puddles that some dogs got into... those poor owners. Well I guess those poor dogs too, since they needed baths. I'm always a fan of dog parks that have a separate section for small and timid dogs, though it didn't seem like anyone was in there. It's definitely not the most aesthetically pleasing dog park, and I'm sure parking around here can suck during busy hours, but I'd come back for the community. We met lots of great owners and dogs overall (not just one or two) and most importantly, our pup had a wonderful time! read more

I unfortunately don't like this dog park for a new rescue puppy who is less confident. I've been to 8 other dog parks where my pup is able to explore and become more confident. But each time we have gone here, my dog has gotten bullied and herded into corners where she is clearly not having a good time and the dogs persist when she tries to get away. Owners don't tend to care or are looking at their phones even when one has her pinned down with their mouth around her throat and she is trying to get away. I'll stick to the other dog parks until she gains more confidence because out of all that I have been to, these pups seem to consistently bully her which is obviously not how I want for her to build confidence. I would recommend Barnum or Cherry creek off leash dog park if your dog is on the leas confident side, she's always had the best time there! read more

For a city dog park, this "dirt lot" has ample space for a session of k9 zoomies. Although could use a patch of grass... maybe? Bring water on those "hot" days, dog fountain doesn't work. Your four legged kids with thank you. read more

Hilarious reviews below. You mean to tell me an all dirt dog park would be muddy after the large amount of storms and rain Denver has been hit with!?!? It's lit, it's spacious, and for the most part it's clean. Oh there's poop there!?! Well there's plenty of bags to pick it up if it's such an issue and it's a whole lot quicker and beneficial than writing a Yelp review about it. Let's not make this an issue and enjoy this park for what it is and that's a great dog park. Also parking is already plentiful, but by the looks below there will be even more availability since others have vowed never to return. This off leash dog park is centrally located, has plentiful free parking, and is located next to a nice park with lots of sidewalks/paths for a good walk. It also seems pretty popular; both times I visited, there were plenty of dogs playing! There's also a separate area for smaller, slower, older doggies. Cons: it's a lot of dirt, no grassy areas, and some owners aren't watching their dogs carefully enough to pick up after them. Bring your own water in the winter months for your pooch. New & Improved!* A new, soft surface makes the Railyard Dog park the best it can be. Great location, expansive views, full of happy dogs and well-behaved humans. The week of March 15, park management folks went to a lot of effort to replace the previous surface with soft, sandy soil. My boy Petey now runs like the wind when we visit the park (he gives the place a 5-paw rating). *For those who don't know the story, the dog park is next to the rail line that for decades has transported coal from Wyoming to the power plants in southern Colorado. When the park was designed, they had difficulty obtaining a permit because of water quality issues -- a result of toxic coal ash that had accumulated over the years. The originally gravelly surface was an attempt to ensure adequate drainage. The park design includes a well-engineered drainage system; and now they've worked it out with a top surface that's easier on the puppy paws. read more

Nice local dog park, If you live in the area. Wouldn't drive here to walk or let my dog play though. Trains run through here often as the name implies. Gets a good amount of sun though but when it rains it gets fairly nasty. Snow is fine but after a heavy rain I would stay clear for several days. Fairly deep area so you can throw balls a good distance. Generally a varied crowd owner and dog wise so that's fun. Both you and pupper can have a thrilling conversation while you spend an hour or so here. Park does have a few mostly dedicated parking spots directly outside the fence. Otherwise walk over or observe the two hour parking limit. If you have young kids wanting to visit the skate park this makes sense. Nice gates and ample water. But otherwise it's mostly bare dirt. Not worth a drive but as I said, living in a nearby apartment it makes sense. read more

It's so convenient to have a dog park close to home! My dogs haven't adjusted easily to city living, so we stick to the small/slow dog side and avoid the high-energy pups playing happily on the other side. Maybe one day we'll work up to that side. We stop by every day for some off-leash fun. read more

I really enjoy this dog park! It gets super crowded in the evenings and weekends with how many people live in the area and this being the only dog park for a bit of a drive - but I've never had a bad experience with bad dogs or owners here! The dirt is definitely a little smelly from the volume of dogs that come here - but I'd prefer that than the mud pits at other dog parks around Denver! And I love that they have a water fountain! My four-legged child gives this park five stars. Here, he can burn off energy and romance the fine furry ladies of Denver. After dozens of visits, I have yet to see the negatives others pointed out such as dog owners not picking up after their pups and letting dog fights get out of hand. I have seen two "fights" start, and both times, the owners were very quick to break it up and leave. Sure, there are less social folks, but I've also met some really nice people here. It's called a "dog park," so I take it for what it is -- a place to make my dog happy. If I get any satisfaction out of it beyond seeing him happy, then that's an added bonus. I come here almost twice a day with my two energetic Aussies. The park itself is a good spot for dogs to run; however, this park has its drawbacks. The biggest drawbacks...Irresponsible owners with no control over their pooch. Most of the owners just stand there and don't watch or have control over their dogs. This leads to many fights. Yesterday, a dog had to get stitches because an owner was talking on her phone and didn't know her "dogs limits". Also, most owners don't pick up after their dogs here, so it can be kind of gross depending on when you come. I like this park...but it gets a 2 star simply because SOME (not all) owners that come here are not responsible. Moreso then other dog parks in the city. Also, they have fresh fountain for dog drinking water. THis is a major plus as no Giardia can be transmitted. read more

Due to my apartment building being under construction during my week off from work, my dog and I have been on a dog park tour of Denver- to keep myself and my dog from going crazy from the noise. I normally frequent one that is close to my house, but thought maybe we should expand a little. After several trips to the various dog parks, I would have to say that this one is my least favorite. I appreciate the history and idea behind it. I really had high hopes. The park itself is lovely enough. It is not as big as I had pictured, but is a decent size. I really appreciate that there are 2 distinct areas: One for dogs that are bigger and have more energy, and one for dogs that are smaller and less interested in aggressive play. I also appreciate the water fountain. My favorite parts were the benches and the shaded area because sometimes we stay for hours. This makes it possible. What made this my least favorite dog park was the people that were there. The people were less social (except for a few groups that appeared to be regulars), less engaged with their dogs and just gave off a vibe that made me not care for it. I watched as dogs would get overly aggressive and the owners were not paying any attention. This happened all 3 times that we went. Also, several times I watched as owners did not pick up after their dogs. I ended up doing it, and there's something just way nastier about picking up after dogs that aren't yours. I also found it to be less busy throughout the day, sometimes with just a dog or 2. Some people may like this. I like having dogs for my dog to play with. I will probably wait a few months and give this place a try again, just because I really appreciate all of the effort that went into creating it. For now, I will probably just stick with my local dog park that both my dog and I find enjoyable. read more

Been here a few times with our two pooches since we moved to Denver a month ago. They have separate areas for high energy/big dogs and low energy/small dogs, but we always like to go into the big park for more doggie action. While there is no grass here, the park is pretty big (dirt) and provides all of the dogs with tons of room to play. They have water fountains and bags to pick up after your dog. I'm sort of new to having a pup in an urban setting, so I was pretty stoked that there was a dogpark within a mile of our apartment. Some people mention the urine-y smell...well, I don't have much of a reference point for comparisons with other parks, but I didn't find it all that noticeable. Maybe I was just too busy watching my dog have a blast. So from a people perspective: seems good to me, and my dog loved it. From Juice's perspective (our dog): oh my gosh, it was doggy heaven. So many dogs to play with! He was definitely wiped out when we got home (uh, and he's a boxer...) In summary: plenty of open space for running around like crazy-pups, water didn't seem to be working, but maybe it was just me, little "business" bags for the the number 2's...and today there happened to be a big ol' mud puddle, which some dogs really enjoyed (owners, not so much...) I brought the dogs here and it's hard to find any negatives. I like the hidden location so it doesn't get too crowded. There are ample space for the dogs to run around. Most of the people were social, but more importantly, all the dogs enjoying playing with each other and running around. This dog park is the product of years of work by the community. I am very impressed by the residents who rallied, lobbied, and ballied hoo for this park. Some of the highlights include separate areas for small/old/tired dogs and large/playful dogs, and water fountains at dog height. Unfortunately, I probably won't be back because of the gravelly earth. I'm sure a lot of research and deliberation went into the decision to use this material, and it was probably expensive, but in execution it is obviously just uncomfortable for most of the dogs. I'm hoping that in time the gravel will wear down and mix in and become a more gentle surface. We'll see! read more

We try to spend at least a few hours here every week. My dog LOVES Railyard Dog Park. He's 10 lbs, so he can get intimidated when he's the only little guy at the park. I love that there is a separate section for smaller dogs to romp and play because everyone is the same size. We've met a ton of great people who bring their small dogs during the small-dog meet ups at Railyard on Saturdays. There is a lot of seating and shade, I've even seen people bring books while their dog plays. Since it's by railroad tracks, it can get pretty loud, aside from that, it's a great place to let your dog run around. We will definitely be back. read more

I think this is a great dog park! I have to say I'm a bit confused about some peoples' reviews saying that they don't like it because the dogs get messy and it smells like dogs. Well...it's a dog park! Yes, Rocky definitely needed a bath when we go home but he had a really good time running around that huge fenced in park making new friends. They do have water buckets there but they get sandy so I'd bring my own. They have a quiet, small dog area and then a big area for more playful dogs. My only issue is that there is no trash can right inside the big park so when your dog goes #2 you have to pick it up then either hang the bag on the fence until you leave or leave the park to go around to the dumpster. read more

I'm giving 3stars simply because it's a 3minute walk and super convient for me like the others that have posted the rocks make absolutly no sense hopefully they will eventually right this but I'm not holding my breathe. Most the dogs stay on the concrete areas which were meant to be a nice shaded spot for pet owners . My dog is still a puppy and at this point only weights 35lbs so she doesn't mind the gravel rocks that are there but 90% of the dogs don't touch it. Postives are they have a nice doggy and person water fountain, the poop bags are always stocked, the location is A+ , good people , and usually a lot of lively dogs . read more

As far as convenience goes, it's great! Just moved to Lodo, and it's a 5 minute walk. It's nice having a place that's so close where I can let my pup off leash for a bit. My dog sometimes gets nervous around the bigger dogs, but everyone watches their dogs pretty well. I feel spoiled as I am used to the HUGE open space dog park in Broomfield. But for now, it's better than nothing. read more

This is the first dog park I've been to since moving to Denver. The pros are that it is close to where I live (lower highlands), it has plenty of fenced in space and my dog thoroughly enjoyed himself. The cons are that it is all cement and dirt which make my little guy quite dirty and can have the potential to smell like dog pee on hotter days. Worth checking out though. read more

Ups: - Big play area - Interesting urban setting - Covered shade for hot days - Some limited seating - Water fountain Downs: - It almost always smells pretty strongly of urine here. Granted, yes, it's a park where dogs go to pee, but the other parks I go to usually don't smell quite so strong. - Could use some textured areas, like maybe some grass or something. - When it rains, the park is on a slope and giant pond fills most of the park up. My dog and I love this dog park. We went on a Saturday morning and there were about ten other well-behaved dogs there. The shade structure has about three tables under it. The park has a water tower for dogs and humans. Plenty of street parking. We can't wait to go back. read more

Decent park except for a few dogs. Watch out for the grey pit bull that's not neutered. He regularly attacks and latches onto dogs there and the owner (man, tall, beard) doesn't seem to care much. Just watch out for your dogs here since it is a community park with no accountability. read more

Pretty much all concrete and dirt (no grass). Nicely located by Coors Field. Cool little neighborhood. Near a skatepark. It has a pet water fountain. DO NOT go on a hot day as I did. The small and low energy part is great. It's nice to have a dog park in the neighborhood. My dog enjoys going to the park.

All dirt/ gravel, minimal shaded areas for pets and people to retire from the intense heat of summer and just the fountain to fill up dog bowls, which is cumbersome. Would improve the place if they kept doggie bags stocked so people couldn't just "get out of jail free card" by not picking up dog poop because there are no bags and they didn't bring one, planted a new more trees for added shade and maybe put some grass. I've had a couple times when my dog has also been attacked there. I will never understand why someone would bring an aggressive dog to a dog park. Just be careful! read more

This dog park would get 5 stars if it had some grass. Seeing that it's all dirt, your pup will return home filthy. When it rains a huge puddle forms in the middle of the park, and some dogs will jump in. Other than that, it's a secure area with plenty of friendly dogs.
