On my first visit July 26, 2010 at 4pm to Rain Skin and body I was burned extremely badly by their laser hair removal "pen" the assistant tried to remove hair that was over my tattoo she went over my tattoo three times before she finally listened to me that I was in severe pain and that she was burning a hole in my leg. I spoke with the manger Nick about the incident and he gave me some jelly to put on it and "promised" me that it would go away. He offered me complimentary hair removal for under arms so I took it trusting that this was a rare occurrence. It took months for the hole in my leg to heal and its been over a year and I still have a scar from that accident. Then September 17, 2011 at 9am Jennifer the owner of the store and the one who trains all the other girls started doing my treatments. She got a new machine in and was bragging about how great it was. As soon as she started using it on me I was in tremendous amount of pain. I told her repeatedly this doesn't seem right and she kept reassuring me that it was normal. She also told me that she only had the machine for a month and that she had done it on another gentleman and it really hurt him too. As she proceeded up my leg the pain got worse and worse. I kept telling her how much pain I was in and that I was worried that I was going to get burned again and she kept saying "I promise I am not going to burn you"Once she made it to the knee cap she noticed that the portion above my knee cap on my right leg was bright red, in fact my whole leg was red but the section above the knee was glaring red. She then acted surprised and said I don't want to put ice on it because that will stop the treatment. Later she put ice on me after I started crying. I never went back and I'm so mad at myself that I went back after the first time that I got burned. I have pictures of all my injuries, its been MONTHS since and you can see the tool marks. A little pricey, but after the military discount for a package of 3 peels (to be performed one month apart), it seemed like a good deal. Well, this turned out to be a lesson in "you get what you pay for" and "research before you buy." Trust, I have had several bad experiences with aestheticians, but I have had more positives than negatives. It's hit or miss when you are on the hunt to look purty. Everyone's skin is different and when we trust our faces and bodies to another, we hope and pray that we will come out looking like a million bucks. If someone is not qualified, then he/she should be held accountable. If you receive stellar treatment, he/she should be recognized as well. Due to genetics and believing that I was immune to the sun's damaging rays (sparse use of sunblock/suncreen) over the years, I developed melasma/hyperpigmentation. I visited several dermatologists, was prescribed skin lightening treatments and had several microderm abrasions. Nothing ever worked. I researched chemical peels and thought to myself, "Hell to the nizzle!" Too much downtime and I don't want to scare myself in the mirror! My friend suggested IPL, Intense Pulse Light therapy. Upon moving to lovely Texas, I sought out a place in Temple, Texas (30 min away). The tech gave me the dog and pony show on various treatments, but didn't give me the personal skin care attention to seal the deal. She quoted me $1200 for 6 IPL treatments. I wanted a second opinion on my skin and hoped to find a place closer to home. I found Rain online and read some reviews on google and yahoo. Most were positive, so I gave them a call. I spoke to Nick and he was very pleasant. I asked about IPL and a free consultation. He scheduled me and quoted HALF the price of the Temple derm office. I was a little skeptical and asked about their equipment and experience. He gave all the pertinent 411 and I scheduled for the next day. They performed a full skin evaluation and took pictures of my face. The tech evaluated my skin type and suggested the IPL. She was very knowledgeable and even gave me a tour of the facility and briefed me on the equipment. They offered a package deal of 6 treatments. I also was given 30% off due to being military, so my treatments were even cheaper. I scheduled and looked forward to my first zap! The tech explained what not to do prior to the appointment and post op thereafter. I arrived for my first appointment and hoped for no pain and optimal results! Nicole ( I think that is her name) was very professional and would alert me prior to every ZAP. She did a test area first to see how my skin reacted and after a few minutes, we had the green light to go! It was uncomfortable, felt like a hot electric current, but I endured and it lasted only 15 minutes. Went home and made sure to follow all post-zap instructions. Wore zinc oxide sunblock/powder and wore a hat when outside. I also got a UV umbrella for days I wanted to go out minus a hat. The first two days were okay. Slight redness and dull pain, but nothing like a chemical peel. I could put on make-up right away and just had to wash with gentle cleansers and take a break from Retin-A. The signature coffee ground freckles showed up a few days later, lasted 5 days and then flaked off thereafter. Don't ever pick them! My pigment did darken as the tech said would happen, but I now have lighter chees and my forehead is starting to lighten up as well. I am very happy with the results after one treatment. Went in for my follow up today and Nicole took some pics to compare with before I had the IPL. HUGE difference! It might be a vanity thing, but I feel more confident and won't have to touch up all my pics from here on out! I have been going to Rain for almost 3 years now. I am extremely pleased with my results from the Fractional Laser treatment. I am very fair skinned, and my expectations are not to look like I'm 25 again. I must say I am also a believer in using fillers. Eric is the BEST injector ever. I am very pleased with my results, and my sun damaged, middle-aged skin looks and feels so much better. I realize everyone isn't going to have the same experience or results, but I love Nick and Jennifer, and the staff is always very pleasant and helpful. My husband bought a special for me for hair removal to Rain. I thought how nice and wasn't concerned because I had a friend that had a good experience here....found out since, that the business was sold and there are new owners. Well, my experience so far has not been very good. I went for bikini and underarm hair removal. The first time I went to the business to schedule, they were not opened even though their sign says they should have been. I called later on and found out that they were running late that day and made an appt. I went on my scheduled day and started with the laser treatments. It hurt some but since I was new to this, I thought that was the normal thing. I returned several weeks later for my next appt and thought, this really stings. I ended up with burns like the other reviewer Charity C!! I went back and showed them pictures of the burns and of course they fall into "well you did sign papers...". Come to find out that they started me out on the highest setting!!! I didn't know that you start on a low setting and progress up. This was a different girl for the second treatment and she said she didn't know why the first girl did it but since I tolerated it well, that is what she did. She said that she would make notations in my chart and lower the setting. I have since gone back for my third treatment and guess what? She started me on the high setting again!! It felt like the first two so I said something and she was like "oh yeah" and turned it down. I now have been trying to call to change an appt that I have and no one ever answers the phone. I have left a message and no one returned the call either. If I had not prepaid for the services, I would not return. I am finishing these out and am going somewhere else. I kind of feel like these are some young girls that don't really take this seriously. They have no continuity and I just don't feel like they are very professional. Oh one more thing, in my first session, the room wasn't even stocked and I was the first one of the day. She gave me a hand towel to wipe off the gel for the laser treatment and it fell on the floor. She said she could get me a new one but that would have to leave the room as there were not any extras in the room. I mean really! I used this facility for a full 6 month hair removal course from about Feb to Oct of 2012. I got a very fair price for hair removal on my legs, bikini and underarms; about $1500. While I was there I was treated by 4 different techs on 2 different machines. I have what they considered 'ideal' conditions for hair removal; dark hair with light skin. Over the course of 6 months of treatment I got treated very well by Nick at the front desk and courteous treatment by the techs, but I also got two second degree burns that took over a month to heal, and on my last visit I got a third degree burn over an ankle tattoo that took several months to heal and removed that portion of the design. To sum it up, I spent $1500 on not very much. I still shave every day, lost zero of my hair, and on my last visit when they switched machines I was told that the original machine they had me on (which was WAY more painful with one particular tech who had little consideration and was skimpy with the gel) was totally ineffective on hair removal and I never should have been on it, thereby wasting 5 months of my time, plus all that pain. I PCSed after one treatment on the 'proper' machine, so I wasn't able to get my money back or receive any of the complimentary year of follow up treatments. Were I to do this again I would go with a larger business with a reputation that specialized in this treatment, like Ideal Image. I chose against them because I didn't want to drive to Austin once a month for that, but their price was virtually identical. Lesson learned, money wasted. Do not go to this place. I paid a lot of money for a package of peels and hair removal and on my second peel I noticed I had horrible pigmentation on my face which still has not gone away even though its been a couple of months. I kept waiting for the stains on my cheeks, forehead and chin to go away but after a week or so of waiting I went back to have them look at the horrible marks on my face the peel had caused and I was told they couldn't do anything about it and that I should seek a dermatologist instead because any treatment they could give was going to make it worse. DERMATOLOGISTS COSTS MONEY. Needless to say, I stormed ouT OF THAT PLACE on the verge of tears. These people are unproffessionals who refurse to pay me that balance of the treatments I DID NOT receive. I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT SUING FOR DAMAGES AND EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. Not becaue of the money but because if they do this to me, they will do it to others. It has been nearly two months and after countless calls and assurances and evasion, I still don't have the money back they charged me for the treatments I did not receive, they owe me over $300. The owner is unproffessional and keeps telling me he has to "process" the refund but he has taken two months to do so, meanwhile I had distress over looking worse now than when I did before. No one likes walking around with huge brown marks on their face for over two months and having paid hundreds of dollars for it! THIS PLACE IS RIDICULOUS. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. Never go to this place. I went there to finish some laser treatments. It wasn't my time so I knew what to expect. I was in a lot of pain and let the tech know. She told me it was normal and that maybe it was because it had been so long since my last treatment or because it wasa different laser. I have burns, tool marks, and scars all over the treatment area. I was giving something topical but offered no compensation out even apology. I wish I could given negative stars. I have looked for a place to help me with anti aging and acne scars for many years. Thank God I found these people! Thank you for taking my away the bags under my eyes and giving me such a great deal on everything!! I am jaded from so many bad experiences and crappy service and worst of all, the last two times I was injected elsewhere and by a doctor of all people, and his staff made a freaking mess on my cheek and my eyes!!! I looked like I got punched in both eyes...for a year!!! Thank you to Erin for restoring my faith and my face. Third time had to be a charm but it was not without difficulty! By putting their whole business under a microscope and the staff under my strict scrutiny I felt comfortable enough to try them. I didn't expect perfection, God knows some people just don't care, and sometimes they are charlatans, but a friend of mine had been frequenting this business and let me come watch them work on her. The manager was pleasant and acted like it was perfectly natural to let me go in and watch. They were happy to have me go in and never said a word about it and treated me as if they were glad I was there.. I wasn't about to let anyone stick me again and FOUL up my face again!. After fighting acne and acne scars for 25 years I'm over it!! Theses people are significant in my life now and I am getting more services from them! The aestheticians answered ALL my questions.... sorry I'm analytical I ask ALOT of them! I sometimes think I know as much about skin than most dermatologists!! Which btw they let my acne run wild for seven years until I finally found a good derm that gave me Accutane, but I was left with scaring that had never been fixed. I now have hope that it can be done. No one is perfect but I so far I have been impressed with their standard of care and the attention they give me when I come in for help. THEY are after all the experts and should act like they at least want to help...and they do. Their place is clean and very nice in side so I was comfortable and didn't fear getting an infection from them. Yes their are alot of filthy places out there! I love their place and do not feel as though I have to go anywhere else.... for now lol. It is nice to rest and finally get focused on my results. I have had their VI peel and two thumbs up! I am going to get another one but def with this peel you need day three and four OFF from work. I have also had a couple of IPLs and DANG that smarts but only for a sec and growing up in FL I have alot of sun damage, so those treatments work well for sun damage my aesthetician turns that dial just right since I am new to these procedures. One of the most horrible experiences I've ever had! Inexperience, unprofessional staff. Deceitful in quotes made and use products not disclosed without notification. They wouldn't admit wrong doing and took forever to reimburse me for services not rendered. Refused to refund me for the product I requested vs. the product they used! The amaetur doctor caused me visible damage and I had to get the procedure redone! They don't even complete the Hyrdra facial and charge more for it than other spas! Save your money!! I started to go here for botox and slowly started getting facials. Amanda is great at what she does. She did the LED treatment and my skin felt fantastic and 4 days on it still does. The lady who does the botox is one of the best I've had. Definitely try it out. If you recommend someone, you get a $50 off your next treatment. You can't go wrong! read more

I wanted to purchase just one treatment and pay as I go and they said I couldn't. It was the same for almost every service, I had to purchase an entire package. I asked about references, experience, and to see the doctor and received only very vague information.
