When seeing the name "Rainbow" one might assume that the bridge is painted in the classic ROYGBIV color scheme. And, I gotta admit, that would be cool. Alas, this bridge is merely shaped like a rainbow - though I'd be all about a petition to get it painted like one too! Spanning the Swinomish Channel, this lovely span connects the mainland with Fidalgo Island and is a great connection point to all things beyond (like Anacortes or Deception Pass). If you happen to have access to a boat, it's fun to cruise the channel and pass underneath the bridge, admiring its architectural magnificence from below. No boat? No worries? I like to view it from pretty Pioneer Park. And if you get there at just the right time of day, it's a wonderful place to catch the sunset (or the sunrise).

Had a cup of their coffee Friday morning, and it was so good, we returned Saturday morning to enjoy another cup o' Joe. I'm a raven, so finding anything about ravens is exceptional and rare. Lots to look at here. Spent far too much money doing it. What's a raven, you might ask? If you have to ask, the distinction won't make an impression on you. For those that know, they're ravens, too, It's a safeguard thing: Odin made the raven an imparter of wisdom. Anyway... This is a great store! The proprietress is a fascinating individual with whom I loved talking, and if we hadn't had a mandatory obligation 80 miles away at an appointed time, I probably would have spent more time and money (yes!) in the store. It's on my list of places to revisit when we return to La Conner.

On multiple occasions, they have made me feel bad about asking any questions at all about the menu or not ordering quickly enough. They seem put out by serving customers. The last time I was in, I had a question about the size of a beverage, and the woman was not only rude to me, but she proceeded to talk rudely about me behind my back when I was in the bathroom and my friend who was waiting for me overheard at all. I guess they have enough business, because they feel like they can treat customers like crap. The coffee is nowhere near good enough to treat people this way, as well.

They have a great, inexpensive and unpretentious wine list with plenty by the glass. We split a glass of rose and it was lovely! The food was just okay. They bragged about having large portions but our $18 cheese plate was a small snack for sure. It also said it came with fruit and chocolate and they only brought out the cheese, crackers, and nuts. Not sure if they were out, we didn't have enough time to talk to our server to figure this out. The servers were all in a huge hurry and missed a lot. I know they were busy and don't completely blame them, but it was definitely amiss. They asked if we wanted more wine and we said no, so they cleared our food quickly even though we were still eating. They also put a reserved sign on our table while we were still there (we only stayed maybe 25-30 min) and told us that someone else wanted our table. It was kind of rude and we felt super rushed by the servers. We really felt like we were being hurried out and didn't get the full experience. They also took our water glasses and dumped them on the ground next to us while we were still sitting and before we were done. They could not have been more blatant about wanting us to go even though we weren't there long. I would probably revisit on a slower day to see if things improved, but the service wasn't great.

For all of us, the highlight of the trip was definitely seeing and hanging out with the two incredible Orca pods. It was memorable without compare. I was especially pleased that I was able to take some great video of the Orcas and wonderful photos of my grandchildren.
