My daughter stayed at Rainbow HIlls for several months. and was sad to leave once she got strong enough to move into a less structured living arrangement. She always felt safe (physically and emotionally) accepted and supported as a young trans woman dealing with recovery and emotional challenges. She (and I myself when visiting) really enjoyed the neighborhood and vibe. The people who run the place have a good heart and care about their residents. Communication was always clear, responses prompt in emergencies or addressing concerns, and what they provided was generous for the price. I lived here for several months first getting sober after a really bad fall out and I truly appreciate the opportunity I had to get on my feet (paying $3,500 a month), but I think it was very clear to me by the end of my stay at Rainbow Hill that the owners were purely interested in making profit. I saw an 18 year-old trans kid be forced to leave within the week because their insurance failed and they didn't have the money to pay rent. The owners were as cheap as possible- refused to buy anything buy the bare essentials, all the while making a handsome sum off the PHP and sober living rent. Luckily my house manager at the time was wonderful, but I believe they are no longer there. I would be cautious, especially if you're moving from out of state to visit this facility, that they don't truly have your back and they are in it to get money out of you. Does not mean it can not be of major benefit in your life and I NEVER felt unsafe- most places are much worst. But it just sucks as really the only queer sober living that the focus from the owners at least seems to be purely on how much money can be made. read more

SO much more than a "sober living" ...Rainbow Hill is truly a home. This past summer, I relocated to LA because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had tried getting sober before, but to no avail. I had been to several treatment centers, but would chronically relapse due to lack of continued care. I *hopped off the plane at LAX* with my life in two suitcases (slightly terrified) and praying this would be the change I needed. Joey, one of the owners, met me at the airport and couldn't have been more warm and welcoming. The rest is history! I write this as I celebrate eight months of continued sobriety, which, believe me, is nothing short of a miracle. Joey and Andrew are lifesavers, quite simply. They've managed to strike a masterful balance between friendship, mentorship, and personal and professional support. They have helped navigate the often uncomfortable and unpleasant journey of sobriety and even made it quite enjoyable. They allow for life to happen - the good, the bad, and the ugly. They provide a flexible framework to build your new life around and provide support without being overbearing or too involved. The house rules are fair and sensical, and allow for various work schedules and lifestyles. Other pros: a club-like light-up gym in the backyard, a house dog that will melt your heart, bimonthly sound baths to ensure chakras are in sync, and in-house holiday parties, complete with charcuterie trays, carrot cake, and water balloon fights. Don't move here! It took time for me to understand what happened and I was victimized and blamed. I was sexually harassed and assaulted by the house manager Chris. The owners brushed it off and gave excuses. Not formal investigation was done and many residents stated they were/heard of others who were groomed and assaulted. Chris takes advantage of guys vulnerable state with sobriety and uses his power and relationship with the owners to get away with it all. Beware of this 13-stepper who preys on the vulnerable. I called to find out what these ppl have to offer and the price for a bed .... Keep in mind that this place is located in Echo Park, it is a beautiful place according to the pictures online, but for just a bed and a price of $1500 - $3000, that is out of control. I asked what that $ included, and they told "community", trips to Six Flags and a "family" ... They also said that they feed you, which sounded shaky. I asked for that amount, did they offer a licensed therapist or Psychiatrist and they offer nothing to that effect and of course they don't take insurance. How are you supposed to afford something like this, especially if you're newly sober? You don't even get your own room! By the pictures online, there are at 3-4 beds to a room. This is price gauging at it's best and taking advantage of ppl who need a safe place to go. read more
