Great park! It is very clean and shady. There's a nice trail to walk around the trees. It's great for kids! Love the shaded kids area.

This Alaska Highway Mile 0 Marker here in Dawson Creek, British Columbia is absolutely awesome!…read moreActually what it is...it's a monumental post/sign stating that if you are heading north towards Alaska (like I was this past summer of 2022), it's the official beginning towards the long journey. And this Mile Marker Sign is very easy to find. While arriving and driving through the small town of Dawson Creek, BC, it's located right in the center of it all, alongside a traffic circle. If by chance you are unsure how to locate it, simply plug the name into Google Maps and you're good to go! Also great about coming to this statue/sculpture is that you can pull into the parking lot beside the traffic circle and not be bothered by oncoming traffic. Park your car beside the sign. It's pretty much as efficient a roadside stop as there is out there. Then...you can take as many photos of the sign (as you'd like) without really being disturbed. Another cool aspect about the sign is that the words are posted on both sides of the monument, so depending on which way the sun is facing...all you have to do is pick the side where the sun is positioned at your back and take a picture. This of course, lol, will allow for optimal photo moments. So yes, this Dawson Creek Sign and Welcome to the World Famous Alaska Highway is the starting point right here in Dawson Creek, BC. The road ultimately ends in Delta Junction, Alaska, which means you'll be traveling for over 1400 kilometers! And when transferred into miles (for us Americans, lol) that equates to roughly 870 miles. Another worthwhile element for being here is right beside the sign is a mobile RV/Van/Trailer/Visitor Center. When I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon it was closed, but the van did have a nice mileage meter on the back of it to showcase just how far away Dawson Creek is from some of the major cities along the highway. For example, here are some noticeable distances to towns while driving... - Fort St. John, BC - 49 kilometers. - Fort Nelson, BC - 300 kilometers. - Whitehorse, YT - 918 kilometers. - Fairbanks, AK - 1523 kilometers. Overall, for anyone who's passing through Canada and driving to Alaska...you will be venturing along this World Famous Alaska Highway and in my opinion, it's sort of a right of passage to make a stop here in Dawson Creek (just for a few minutes, lol) and snap your picture with this very colorful and creative Mile 0 Marker Sign.
