Liberty Tree Park, now known as Rae Carol Armstrong Liberty Tree Park (gosh that is a mouthful) is one of the best parks in the City of Plantation. My kids grew up at this park. Located off 5th street , matter of fact the park used to be known as "5th Street Park", it has undergone three name changes. The park is both Dog Friendly and Pedestrian Friendly. This park has a genuinely nice children playground that is shaded with large mature trees. This is important to me and has several benches to sit down. The park is a good size, now double in size since when the City of Plantation acquired the Elks Club back in the early 2000's . There are nice walking trails and bathroom facilities too. Along the walking trails and surrounding the Gazebo you will find dedication bricks throughout. A brick can be personalized and installed for approximately $125.00. The squirrels that live there never go hungry as I see people all the time feeding them peanuts. If you are in the area, Rae Carol Armstrong Liberty Tree Park is absolutely worth a visit. read more

This is a park that has undergone a few name changes through the years. The original name of the park was 5th Street Park but the name was changed to Liberty Tree in 1976 to honor the United States Bicentennial which marked the 200 year anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. In 1976 an Oak Tree was planted in the park to honor the Liberty Tree in Boston that was planted in 1646. In 2009 the park name was changed to the Rae Carole Armstrong Liberty Tree Park after Rae Carole Armstrong who was mayor of Plantation from 1999-2011. In 2003 4.9 additional acres of parkland were purchased from the Elk Club expanding the park to it's current total of 9.28 acres. Through the years the members of the Junior Woman's Club have donated the signature white gazebo, brick ways, and statues for the park. In 2007 a push was made to make the park environmentally friendly and green. A comfort station, recycled plank fencing, benches, solar powered lighting and bathroom fixtures, and a bike rack were added as part of this project. This is a wonderful neighborhood park for the City of Plantation. During my visit I saw a lot of families enjoying the playground and green space in the park. There is a walking/jogging path for exercise that winds through the park. Every November the Plantation Junior Woman's Club hosts the Art in the Park event. It's an arts and crafts show and this year they have added food and alcohol vendors as well. The date for this years event is November 10 and 11. read more

Great local park with a long name RAE CAROLE ARMSTRONG LIBERTY TREE PARK. This is also the home of the Plantation Junior Woman's Club's Art in the Park arts and craft festival each fall. It is a large park with one pavilion, a gazebo, lots of benches, trails, and a well maintained playground for the kids. It is located on 5th Street in Plantation and there is plenty of parking all along the perimeter of the park. There is a bathroom on site. Pets are not allowed. This park is pretty quiet so it's a great place to bring kids to play, have a picnic, or just sit and read. Some benches are in full sun; but there are many young trees, so there will be more shade in the future. Park is very nicely kept up. I was here for the Plantation Junior Woman's Club's 52nd Annual Art in the Park, and what a great place for an outdoor art event! There were amazing artists and crafters, and you could walk around checking out their items in a beautiful outdoor setting with paved brick paths and awesome music and the scent of kettle korn & other food vendor items in the air. read more

Went to the 52nd Annual Art int he Park Festival with my family. At arrival we parked at the post office, because the street was closed off. It was a free admission open to the public. We went straight to the food vendors and ordered chicken kabobs and fries. They also had pizza and hamburgers. Not much of unique food variations. I ordered a red wine, water and a soda from the beverage vendor. It was a bit pricey for the size poured on the wine $5.00. At Luckys I at least got a full cup for $4.00. I also bought my daughter an icee for $5.00. My goal was to spend money only on food and drinks and if there were any great deals from the vendors. There were many vendors and beautiful items they were selling. They had a stage with a band playing and places to sit. Next to the Kids corner they had bounce houses and kids performing shows, dancing. We enjoyed looking at the items for sale, but it was a bit expensive, so we took cards incase we decided later to buy. The park it self was very pretty. This park does not have bathrooms. The festival only had porta pottys for use. Glad I was able to take my family to a festival for a great cause. read more

This is a favorite neighborhood park but I especially love Art in the Park each November. I have been going for the better part of 20 years. Again this year, the Women's Club has found a great group of mostly local vendors with unique items perfect for holiday giving or a treat to yourself. The hardest part was deciding what I liked best... I really can't take everything home. The parking was not a concern today but the key was an early arrival. By 11:00 everyone was set-up, food and beverage were flowing and the entertainment was underway. This is perfect for families with the Kid's Corner packed with activities. If you missed 2017, watch for the schedule next year... it's a great day in a beautiful park. read more

I love going to this park. I typically walk to it from my house and then walk the series of cobblestone paths to get some exercise. Sometimes I run, sometimes I sit under a tree and read my book. They have a Gazebo area to eat lunch, as well as, another small picnic area. They have a pretty large swing set area for the kiddos and there's always kiddies playing here. There's also a ton of squirrels in this park, not sure why but they are everywhere. read more

A simple, mostly clean park with a small playground and a long biking/walking/running trail. The best thing about this park is that it's swarming with squirrels. Chunky, friendly, curious squirrels that my son loves chasing. In return for allowing my son to chase them I bring the squirrels lots of peanuts. (I recommend stocking up at Dollar Tree because these squirrels eat a lot!) My only real complaint about this park is that there is only one set of bathrooms. They're in the center of the park, which makes sense, but it's pretty far from the playground area. If you're looking for a cheap way to make some great memories this is the place. Just (seriously) bring peanuts. read more

This park is very clean for being a public park and very family friendly. There's a couple pavilions you can have events at and Peking all along the road. There's one or two playgrounds I saw for kids, not super big but a decent size. There is a ton of grass area to play some ball with the family. There's also a path for biking, walking, running, etc. and there's a restroom in the middle of the park. I like the area it's in because it's not off a main road with a ton of traffic, just your normal neighborhood traffic. Lots of kids and families during the day, it's a perfect place for a picnic as well! read more

I had an amazing time going to Art in the Park last Sunday. Every year this takes place right here in Plantation. For as long as I can remember, my mom would take my brothers and I yearly. It's a fun, family friendly event. There's the "Kids Corner" where kids do crafts and participate in fun activities. Then, there's the stage where local entertainment takes place. I got to see Irish tap dancing when I went last Sunday. I thought that was pretty neat. Local musicians play as well. You can bring your pets and take a stroll through the park, looking at all the artwork on display from the locals. If you get hungry and want a bite to eat or drink, there are local venders nearby as well. I had an amazing time as always, and even got a cute shirt that was hand crafted and bedazzled. This is a great park with a great playground for kids in Plantation, FL. They have recently revamped the entire park and expanded into the area next to it as well. There are plenty of huge trees to lay under as well as a jogging trail if you should feel so inclined. The best thing about the park is Art in the Park which is an annual Art Show which covers 2 days and brings a great crowd. Did I also mention that it is a green park? All of the bathrooms are solar powered... How cool is that?! read more

This park is amazing and idyllic in the daylight hours. It's not well lit at night (as most Plantation parks) so come from dawn to dusk

Nice shaded park for a stroll. Has winding walkways and quite a few trees for shade. Not very scenic but good for a quick walk.
