As others on here have said for seemingly 8+ years and running the staff here are incredibly rude, stand offish, unprofessional, and unknowledgeable about their brand. They will not greet you or offer help as they seem to be more interested in talking to each other than do their actual job. You're lucky if you so much as get an upward glance in your direction when you walk in. I've been here a couple of times through out the years and it's not just one particular person working that is rude/unprofessional, it seems to be a strong prerequisite of hiring only douchey people as a standard requirement to work here. If you actually manage to get one of their attention to ask something about literally any article of clothing or accessory you're interested in, they will not know the answer despite... ya know.... Working there. It makes you almost dislike the brand completely and rubs you the wrong way. If you don't have it in you to "help yourself" to the store and make it clear that you're a serious shopper, don't expect to get or leave with what you want. This spot is really cool, it's one of my favorite places to shop, but don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. Staff is there to assist you if you grab their attention and ask, and don't be shy about asking for multiple things, the answer will never be no. but they aren't going to dote on you, nor should you expect it. The place is art itself, with a rough and rustic feel. Expect the staff to be the same way and you'll have a great experience! It's kind of an IYKYK vibe, not for everyone especially if you're the type that's used to being waited on. If you want a more curated experience, visit the one in Vegas. And yet another great experience with Double RL on Melrose. This time I delt with Mukari and ROCKET! I was lead to a few great items and given insight on an item that I liked but wasn't aware was on sale. Rocket guided me to an item I liked but wasn't sure of then suggested a few more that I ended up selecting. It was a great experience as Mukari was wearing a few of the items I was interested in and Rocket was very familiar with the RL line. Only ding was that the store needs a full length mirror out in the store as the only ones are in the two dressing rooms. But really enjoy the intimate location. Thanks! read more

Today is the last time i step foot inside this store. Went in a few months ago and was met with 3 people chatting around the register, i was never greeted, acknowledged or even looked at they were too busy just talking amongst themselves. That day left a very bad taste in my mouth but alas i gave them one more chance today. I thought maybe it was just an off day but nope i was wrong to expect anything else. Different staff same problem. They don't speak to you, ask you questions, nothing at all. I asked one of the staff what the metal was used for the wallet chain and he had no answers, i asked if it would tarnish and yet again no answers. How do you work somewhere and know nothing about the product. For the price people spend here you would think they would try help in any way but i may as well of googled it myself. Whoever is in charge of hiring needs to really take a look in the mirror because their store is one of the most unpleasant experiences you could have. read more

Insanely slow & ignorant staff. I walked in to buy a jacket I saw in their Hamptons store. One of the 4 sales guys on the floor was wearing the exact Jacket. They were all very busy chit chatting and didn't really care to ask me if I needed help. After looking around for 5 min in the small shop without being offered any help or welcomed, I finally asked the guy who was wearing the jacket if they had this jacket somewhere then he answered: "This one, Nooo"...Not asking if he should try other stores to get me one. He was busy going back to the conversation with his colleagues about something random. Small, skinny and rude dude. How can a guy like that work in a Ralph Lauren store.... My boyfriend has shopped here for years! When we make the sojourn from The OC to LA we always include this Ralph Lauren store as an addition to our other haunts nearby. Anyway, while very expensive the clothes are well-made, unique & fit great! Not for everyone or every body type but even if you can't wear the clothes there are expensive accessories you can dream about. Tooled Leather bags & belts, Saint Christopher charms, bandanas, shoes etc. The emphasis is on vintage or vintage-inspired, southwest or biker, men's mostly with some woman's styles as well. Lots of Denim & cotton. The store itself is cool! It's a converted olde time gas station that fits into the vintage vibe perfectly. The customer service is excellent. Thomas has helped my BF for years. He must be good because whenever I see my BF wearing a great shirt, pair of jeans or jacket it usually came from Double RL. read more

Some of these reviews are pretty wretchedly boomer for what is probably one of the great underrated stores in the city, so I felt compelled to leave a review after scrolling too far past store hours. Loved the woman who thought "Mr Lauren" might personally be reading these reviews and can intervene to help her, why speak to the manager when you can summon the retired founder of the brand over Yelp instead? Just in case though, hey Mr Lauren, it's me, Stan again, I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom, I sent two letters back in autumn but you musta not got em... The merchandise and the store itself is really worth a trip just to take a look at. It is one of the more extensive standalone stores and the vintage section is like a museum where the gift store is the museum itself. If you aren't familiar with the RRL brand do your research, it's not average Polo and is pretty hit or miss depending on your taste. I am sorry to report I really have never had a problem with the staff. If you shop at any average retail store successfully, you should have no trouble functioning in here. The staff is certainly not head over heels, hovering behind you and gassing you up to buy things. It must be a generational thing because I don't know too many people under 35 who are comfortable with that kind of obsequious salesmanship. If that's the type of human interaction and affirmation you need I'm not sure what store still offers that, maybe Brooks Brothers before they finish bankruptcy proceedings? I was greeted when I walked in, asked if I needed a size in something I was holding to a mirror, and largely left alone to wander around a relatively small and self-explanatory boutique. I was not wearing a Rolex, dropping hundred dollar bills and paging my secretary and third mistress simultaneously, just wearing a regular outfit with my leased Honda parked up front. When I politely asked for help, three people were available and eager to do so. So, I was quite pleased to shop here. And if you do feel personally under-appreciated for just being there and making everyone's week, you can always talk to the manager Mike, who is a very sincere guy and who has always defined my RL experiences in a positive way, enough for me to scream this absurd ditty into the putrid echo chamber of disgruntled consumers hyperventilating and typing away in store parking lots. I had stopped in to the RRL Store on Melrose, I was taking the long way home after visiting some clients in LA. I had been wanting to go the RRL store on Melrose since I had such an amazing experience at the Malibu store. Plus I was in need of a new weekend duffel bag and I wanted a leather RRL one. All the RRL stores I have been to around the country had impressed me, they are part antique store, part clothing store, and part museum. Now since I had been out helping a client install a new display in their shop, I was in a pair of jeans, a regular tee shirt, and my chucks. Based on the look I got walking into the store you would have thought I walked in and pissed on the rug, the staff looked me up and down and made a value judgement that because I was not in full hipster regalia I should be ignored. I went on about my business, headed towards the bags along the back wall, I found a few I liked; but I saw a style I liked in a smaller size and wanted to see if they had anything similar that was in a larger size. I attempted to get the attention of the guy working up at the front but after he looked right through me for the third time I just took the bag to the front to ask my question. Instead of a polite yes or no, I got "You realize that bag would be about $1,500" to which I replied "Yes I understand, but do you have one?" I could tell I was bothering him, but he did really try to help... he looked up from where he was, leaned to look around me at the wall of bags I had just come from and said, "Don't see one" he quickly returned to whatever distraction I was keeping him from. So I returned the bag to the shelf, and left, on the way out I was again not acknowledged, with a "thank you" or "come again". The overall feeling was that I was disrupting the staffs morning. I got the feeling that had I pulled up in on of my vintage cars, had on my Rolex, and been dressed to the nines I might have gotten a better service. Heaven forbid anyone wear work-wear into a RRL store to buy vintage inspired work-wear, from people who have never worked a day in their life. So be forewarned that if you are not wearing ultra skinny jeans, carrying a man purse, or sporting dubious facial hair you will likely be treated as a fashion pariah and draw the disapproving stares of the staff. Now on to the store itself. The decor is what would expect from RRL, its amazing, the shop looks like old service station and is filled with cool motorcycles, vintage displays, hard to find books (most I already had), and some great vintage fixtures. It's a lesson to anyone wanting to see branding done right. From the old leather jacket with the AMA patches positioned next to an old Triumph motorcycle, to the industrial machinists tables and well worn leather sofa, its a place I would spend a lot more time, that is if I was welcome. I guess the laid back guy at the Malibu location will get some of my business when I make it all the way out there. read more

The staff here are beyond rude ! I have never been into a store where they speak to their customers so poorly! There is a shorter guy I think the manager who is the worst! His attitude is so bad I will not be returning again. It was unfortunate that Carter, with whom we placed our phone order, had a day off. The two sales clerks that were there barely acknowledged us. We asked for our order, and Tony did retrieve it from their stock room, but that was it. My husband asked to try a different size, and Tony said yes but went on wrapping something instead. We stood around, waiting for about 10 minutes. No one else was in the store at the time. My husband found the other size himself. When a family walked in, they accommodated them right away and were very helpful to them. Mind you, the family did not buy anything. Needless to say, I was very unhappy. My husband called Carter, and Carter answered the call on his day off. Carter was apologetic for how his coworkers were. Anyway, we paid for the sweater, but we'll never go back there. We had better service at Double RL at South Coast Plaza. My advice is to go to South Coast Plaza instead. read more

My friend and I were driving down Melrose looking for something to do. We saw a Kogi truck and decided to stop to get some food. We walk up to the truck and try to order something and they guy is like, sorry you have to be a part of the event going on behind you. I walked away a bit sad. Subsequently we walked into the RRL store to look around and see what was going on. One of the well-dressed employees told us it's a fashion event showcasing new RRL products. She invited us to have a beer and grab food from the truck. Happily, we walked back to the truck and got a bunch of yummy tacos--free. This was my first Kogi truck experience with no lines and no money necessary. Free beer? Amazing way to start off an evening in LA. My friend was in such a good mood he bought a $300 pair of jeans. As far as RRL, I honestly don't really like it because I don't like the name. However, they produce some amazing Western style clothing that I'd be all over if it didn't seem so mainstream. Came to Melrose for that precious pink wall insta shot...stayed on Melrose for the multiple attempts to get the perfect pink wall insta shot...and then came across RRL which is right across the street. Also a good spot for photos. But also an excellent spot for quality menswear and solid customer service. This store is mostly menswear but they do have some women's vintage clothes and jewelry. I always make a point to check out their raw denim for my clients and also their leather jackets. Really good spot when you're looking for a cool leather jacket but like, not simply a black one. There's variety here. If Justin Theroux were gonna ditch his black leather jacket for one that's a little different but still rugged: he'd come here and Jen would be like yesss. (miss you, Leftovers) Plus: everyone who works here is for real knowledgable about the brand and always helpful. No bad vibes. Take your insta photo at RRL and check out the goods inside the store. The Melrose store is rubbish Don't shop here ! The staff are so rude, they don't even greet or acknowledge you. This is surprising because it's owned by Ralph Lauren and usually they are great at with customer service in the RL stores. MR Lauren if you are reading this please fix the attitude of the staff that work at your store as this is not a good look for the brand. The negative reviews here are completely blown out of proportion if not totally fabricated. As a former stylist & costumer I had an amazing relationship with the staff at this location for years. The behaviors I'd witnessed from some of these customers that the staff would have to tolerate should make you angry. From people trying to return worn clothes for no good reason, to people demanding discounts from a corporate retail chain or people just being plain rude/mean because they weren't being doted on to the level they decided they should... It's pathetic, toxic behavior from individuals who seemingly think they're better and/or above the people working there. I've actually heard customers say aloud "do you know how much money I spend here" like it makes whatever petty grievance of theirs justifiable to behave in such a manner. If you want well made, classic clothing from a honest and knowledgeable staff then RRL on Melrose is the place. If you want to be an adult baby I'd recommend seeking therapy because you clearly have some unresolved issues lingering. read more

My boyfriend bought a $300 pair of jeans from this place and in a little over a month the crotch was completely worn out with a gaping hole in it. He called to see if he could have the jeans replaced and was told just to come in, making it seem like they would take care of the problem. After driving and hour out of the way to get here, he was told they could send the jeans out for repair, which he would have to pay for, and they wouldn't know how much it would cost until the damage was evaluated. He had to go back and forth with the sales associate about whether or not the jeans were faulty and should have worn out in the short amount of time they did. The guy cried "wear and tear" and said it was out of their hands. Really? After way too much back and forth, they hesitantly offered to swap out the jeans. Lo and behold, they didn't have his size in stock in that style. The sales associate then pouted his way to the register to finally give my boyfriend a refund. Overall just zero accommodation and zero customer service, but I'm sure if my boyfriend looked like a white trendy hipster with a Shinola watch on, this transaction probably would've gone a lot differently. You would think that after spending that much money on a pair of jeans they would back up the quality a little more. Safe to say we wouldn't spend our dollars here again. read more
