My whole family stayed here on the night of my cousin's wedding and I was absolutely astounded at…read morehow good everything was (and no, they are not paying me to say that!) We all took our own double room, which at £35 a night was an absolute steal. The booking process was a bit difficult - if you want to book more than 4 rooms at the same time, it counts as a group booking and the price goes up to £60 a night for some reason. We arrived 15 minutes before check in time (2pm) and I had called ahead to tell them that we were going to be early, so I wasn't expecting the rather aloof, slightly cross 'welcome' that we got. However, that was the only down side in an otherwise fantastic experience. We grabbed some lunch, which was fast, delicious and really reasonable. I had the hamburger, which was very very good. The rooms were exceptionally clean, large and really nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a great shower. The only thing to know is that if you are on the railway side of the hotel, it can be a bit noisy if the window is open. I only realised my window was open when I was woken up for the third time as a train went past. I closed the window, didn't hear another thing and slept soundly! The breakfast was fantastic, but it took AGES to get through the queue - the coffee machine and the toaster are on the way to the hot food counter, which slows everything down! The food was lovely, and plentiful and they have quorn sausages if you order them. Overall, I would definitely return and am now a convert to premier inns!

One of the newer Travelodges that opened in 2007. You get what you expect - a cheap room that's got…read morethe basic stuff you need for a night or two. It's got a bar / restaurant that is open for breakfast and for meals and drinks in an evening. The location is handy that it's only a couple of minutes drive from the A1. Right next to the hotel there is a Subways, a chinese restaurant and take away and a convenience store and a pharmacy. Just over the road is the supremely ugly Galleria shopping centre, which has got a few resteraunts in it and a load of outlet shops and a cinema. Just look out for the local teenage urchins hanging around! It's local to the university if you need somewhere to stay if visiting a student. The new police station is just round the corner if that is the kind of thing you look for when considering a hotel!

Close to several restaurants. Cons: Absolutely no soundproofing and the building construction is extreamly cheap. You WILL hear every step someone makes in the room above you, the floors squeak like they are a hundred years old. If the person above you gets up before you expect to be woken up. Additionally, I know this is a low cost room but basics like a telephone and cloths iron are not provided. Good to know: Internet is not free and is expensive.
