The inside is just what you would think in a 100+ year old building, small ceilings, old wood and live fire places. We sat on the patio and the ambiance is great for a nice evening with good weather. The beer selection is great, the gin and tonics are wonderful and the food was delicious. My review focuses on the vegan options which since I have been there have gotten even better!! They have many vegetarian and vegan food options. I had a chunky vegan soup and a spicy salad. Everything was wonderful. If im ever back in Tenterden I will most definitely come back here!!

I had a work trip in the area and this hotel was the only one within an easy commute. While I'm not…read moresure I'd recommend for someone staying for a longer trip, Hempstead House is a fairly nice find for a shorter trip. Let's start with accommodations. The rooms are reasonably sized and the wifi (like the water pressure) is strong. I loved the shower and bath. As a guest, you also have access to the spa which is basically a pool, hot tub, and sauna. I had no use for the sauna as I stayed during the heat wave and unfortunately, my room did not have aircon. That poor little fan had no hope and this issue was probably my only concern over my stay. My rate included a great breakfast including hot and cold options. There is also another restaurant on site you can eat at. The breakfast was great while the other food options were average. I would recommend skipping the night the restaurant does Thai, however, given that there aren't a lot of other choices without a car, that might be difficult. Staff across the board was excellent. Lisa in the restaurant was so friendly. I didn't know what a lot of the standard British breakfast items were and not only was she patient with me, but made sure I gave everything at least a little try! The front desk staff and maids were also friendly and supportive. So, outside avoiding the house during a heatwave and maybe coming with a car, I would highly recommend repeating my Hempstead House stay.

There's an ice skating ring in front of the building to get you into the seasons mood. The rooms are quaint, clean and cozy. Actually particularly the tiling in the bathroom and the size of the bathroom are amazing. We spent a lot of time at the bar area and the spa. The spa is equipped with a steam room and a sauna. The sauna was no more than 40 Celsius. The steam room was okay in terms of heat. The jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. The pool was well heated and you can swim nice long lapse. The fitness studio is equipped with techno gym equipment, lots of weight equipment, even TRX, a rowing machine and much more. It has a good size. You find towels and water there (not always a given). I very much enjoyed the changing area, which offered GHD blow dryers. The staff (including the facilities guy Dell and the front desk lady Ella) were soooo kind. Big thank you to them. We were a bit disappointed at breakfast. The service was super slow and the selection often limited (because the staff didn't have time to refill quickly). We waited about 20 mins on tea and coffee at breakfast. What also bothered me a bit was how cold it was in many parts of the main building. The insulation is rather sparse in these older buildings. The windows are single paneled. If you sit in the bar area, you're guaranteed to feel a cold shiver sitting by the window area.

Excellent, say no more…read more But I will say more, obviously. Everything was nigh on perfect. Service was absolutely exemplary, from ALL the staff without being obsequious. They couldn't be more helpful or approachable. The hotel itself is an outstanding building (reached it's current incarnation during the Edwardian time I believe). Surrounded by 3,000 acres including a golf course. We went for a wedding, so didn't sample the golf course, or the Spa, or the conference facilities etc, but the formal gardens are well cared for and a great backdrop to the photos! And the food, a subject very close to my heart; was brilliant. My wife is on a non-lactose, non-gluten diet and of a 5 course meal on offer, she was able to have ... 5 courses. OK, we had to advise them in advance, but the adaptation was without fault. It's the first time my wife has been able to have a full meal at a restaurant/hotel for years! Oh, almost forgot the accommodation; we stayed in one of the mews cottages for the Saturday night; excellent! due largely as a result of the housekeeping, a lot of which goes on behind the scenes, but as I said the staff were all amazing. The only downside is that we live in Somerset and Eastwell Manor is, of course in Kent, so we won't be going there too often, but distance is the only barrier. Would totally recommend this venue.

The only grumble is a lack of parking. There's a multi storey over the road but it is usually full of shoppers during the day. If you can afford to visit, why not get the chauffeur to drive round the block a few times? Job done.

The 34 rooms are named after drinks and all bar 4 come with roll-top baths and showers (the remaining 4 just have showers). The beds are made up with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and are incredibly comfortable. For me, the thing that makes a difference is the service. Attention to detail is superb from the free loan of CDs for the rom, through the fresh coffee, through the attentiveness of the staff at every opportunity. Breakfast is good - Continental or full English (including the oft forgotten kippers and so on). Compared to many HdV's the dining room here is small but it still retains the charm that HdV have fought so hard to recreate. The little bar is a gem - cosy leather furniture, glass in hand, cigar from the selection. perfection!

The food is excellent, we came here on Sunday, I had rib of beef roast, my girlfriend had salmon en croute with dauphinois potatoes and my daughter had fish and chips. They were all excellent! I could quibble, but I won't bother, just come here and eat, it's good. The deserts are also lovely, the locally sourced ice cream, the cheese cake and possibly the best crumble and custard I've had since my mum's when I was a little boy. The staff are friendly and fabulous, they have real beer, the decor is tasteful and doesn't jar with a building that's over 600 years old and you can actually rent rooms and stay here. It is in fact such a nice place it's a good enough reason to move to Goudhurst.
