Even if a child feels unsure about an obstacle, the staff coach them through it and give them the confidence to try something new. Go for a class, stay for a camp, host a party! A warm welcome at the door every time, and always willing to help. I even forgot a hair tie once and a lady in the art room cut me some stretchy material and I made a pony tail holder. That was awesome. 2. Gym: they have a awesome lifting area. I do HITT workouts and there is plenty of room. Only problem I have is: no slam balls, and drinking fountain is no where to be found downstairs (bring water). 3. Locker room: clean, provide blow dryers. Only problem is showers. Takes a while for water to get hot, stalls too small with only a curtain that doesn't really cover you and you run into it when taking a shower which grosses me out. All in all I am happy, and would recommend you checking this gym out.

I was a bit hesitant because of Kiddie Academy's location (strip mall next to X Sport Fitness and Kohl's), but the inside is actually very spacious and parking was never an issue because of reserved parking for parents right outside of the Kiddie Academy entrance. What we really liked: * Each day, a "tadpole" is sent from an iPad -- it includes photos of your child during the day, what they ate, and diaper changes * The caregivers were fantastic. In particular, our son connected quite closely to Ms. Abby, Ms. Julie, and especially Ms. Emily. * The facility is secured with a computerized login to check in/out your child with a passcode * The price was much more reasonable than many of the other facilities in the area (despite being much nicer than most of the other daycares). We really felt like we got a fantastic deal * They have a monthly calendar of foods (breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc). It's not a gourmet meal, but it's nice to see that they've taken the time to come up with unique meal options and avoid repeats. * There's a clear educational focus that I really liked. * In the beginning and after Christmas break, our son had a difficult time going back to daycare. We really appreciated that we could call during the day and speak with one of the caregivers in the room to check on our son. Areas for improvement: * We would have liked a clearer transition plan for our two year old (moving from the toddler room to the two year old room). Our son turned two in late October, but he really only began transitioning in January. In fairness, he was at home for two weeks during Christmas break. By January, we had planned to have our son stay at home for the spring, so we decided to keep him in the toddler room for the remainder of the month, but it would have been nice for him to transition in November to be challenged intellectually and to be with similarly aged children * The payment system is easy, but it isn't directly connected to the check-in kiosk that shows your balance. It would be nice if everything was automatically connected and up to date as soon as a payment is made. * Although the toddler room had plenty of toys, we would have liked to have more books that weren't as beat up. Our son loves to read and it would have been nice to have newer books. The Arlington Heights library frequently has book sales -- it might be a good idea for the center to restock with new books in better condition.

My son had some emotional regulation issues and they were so accommodating and even worked with his therapist to ensure they were supporting him in the best way possible. The administration team is also amazing and often supported my son when he was having a hard time in the classroom, worked with me and his therapist to give him what he needed, and always responded to him with love and kindness. He has shown soooo much improvement this year because of their love and support for him. We are so grateful for our experience there and would highly recommend this place to anyone! Because if them, I feel confident sending him to kindergarten!

Flavorpot is currently offering virtual cooking classes on Tues and Thurs for just $5. They send ingredients around ahead of time so that you can be well prepared in time for the class. My daughter signed up for the flatbread pizza class this past Tuesday perfectly timed at 5pm so she could make dinner for the family. All info from ingredients to zoom was clear ahead of time. We had a little trouble signing in since the zoom was under my name instead of my daughter's so i suggest changing that ahead of time. This wasn't quite as interactive as the other cooking classes my daughter has been taking virtually (mostly thru outschool). For FlavorPot's class Chef Cristina demonstrated and there was a helper who was fielding questions from chat to make sure all went smoothly. My daughter definitely needed my assistance a few times so it wasn't really a class they can take on their own. After a lot of fun, big mess and we even set off the fire alarm she had flatbread pizza for dinner. She loved it- ate up every last bite with her brothers. It was a little on the burnt side (imo), but they didn't seem to mind She really liked the class and asked if I would sign her up for them twice a week. Twice a week is a lot since it's work for me and a big mess, but we will definitely plan for more in the future.

She also loved the materials and the "studio" (though it seems very cramped to me) The downside for us was instructors style of teaching. She was harsh and not really welcoming or kind. When I tried to speak with her and share my concerns on the second day she made a big speech to me about how important it is making sure the children aren't comparing themselves to one another so they need to be isolated to their own work with no talking to one another. I think in a 4 day summer camp my expectation was more about light-hearted fun than something serious like that. We won't go back for this reason so I can't give it 5 stars. I wish it had gone differently because Matilda's work is really great!
