After divorce , I moved to the northburbs with the kids joined Midtown for several months, and ultimately had to move to Wisconisn. In moving I had a lot of trouble exiting the contract, but this was several years ago. When I moved back to Buffalo Grove in 2022 checked out other area fitness clubs, Sky Fitness, LA Fitness, etc... and yes Midtown in Palatine which is a 15 min drive. I was most impressed with Midtown again, the remodel was excellent, the new locker room, new steam room, outdoor pool is huge and amazing, the fitness equipment is new and always available and never overcrowded, the personal trainers are longterm employess of the company, and very professional and experienced as a result, the food in the cafe is affordable and delicious and the gals in the cafe work hard and are good cooks, the new work area with tables with ports for your equipment is set away from the cafe and worlkout area and perfect to work, eat, then head to workout, and it all starts with the entry desk. Nick and the girls upfront are truly amazing, always greeting everyone with a friendly smile upon when entering and exiting the facility, they give you a real sense of belonging..... I'm very happy that I rejoined Midtown, the experience far exceeded my expectations!!!

The coaches are very diligent with safety and making sure all kids are safe and comfortable, many are saying that it is not a clean enviroment. The gym is clean, its simply just an old building. Theres so many different areas in the gym including rope swings, and a rockwall in the foam pit. I went here when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. Theres large viewing areas in the lobby for the parents to watch their kids throuhg windows on the first and second floors. Kurt was very diligent with giving me corrections and taught me so much about gymnastics. I am forever greatful for American Academy and all that they taught me!

But what really stands out is the people. Everyone is kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in the kids. I've personally seen shy, quiet girls come in and, over time, grow into confident, happy young athletes. That kind of transformation doesn't happen by accident . It speaks volumes about the environment the owners have created. They're giving these girls so much more than just a sport. They're building confidence, encouraging friendships outside of school, and creating something positive for them to focus their energy on. It's healthy, productive, and honestly feels like a lifestyle in the best way.

I'm fine with the food part, I'll walk to my car and eat my food in my car. But forcing us to drink their crappy coffee is just rude. And it's crap coffee. Also, what's with playing the nation anthem before a volleyball tournament for 14 year olds? Do we really need to do that? On the plus side, the facility is clean and the bathrooms are as well. So many of these facilities have 1toilet and they host an event with hundreds of people. Just ridiculous.
