Sea Ranch Escape has the best houses and we like that they are a locally owned business and not a corporate behemoth. Their personal touch really matters. Just recently, they took the time to call us and inform us that the house we had rented was going to have a full scale house remodel going on next door and offered to move us to a comparable house which would be more peaceful and quiet. In addition, when we forgot some clothing at the house, they had housekeeping retrieve the items for us then shipped it back to us in the city. A+++ for customer service and they are all just genuinely lovely people.

We found it to be a very relaxing environment and a great location for beach access, fishing, kayaking, and wine tasting in the Anderson Valley. The condo is decorated with a nautical/beach theme but it's not campy or overdone- really just the right amount to make guests feel instantly at home. The family room and bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed. We loved the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. And the kitchen is really well stocked; there's a full set of dishes, serving pieces and basic bakeware. We've stayed at couple other vacation condo/cottage rentals before and we've never found a place that could match SeaWatch in terms of comfort and amenities. We've booked a return trip w/ friends again this summer and we can't wait to come again! First, the house-- The first floor is very open, with a big living area (and sectional sofa) opening to a large dining room that comfortably seated all of us. The kitchen is spacious, and easy for one or two people to cook in. The knives are even sharp! There's a small bedroom on the first floor with a day bed. For some reason, it was the coolest room in the house. Upstairs are three more bedrooms (one with bunk beds!), the master suite, and another full bath. The beds were comfortable, everyone slept like babies, and the master suite has a kickass deck. There'a big back deck nestled in the redwoods with views of the river. Going towards the back yard, there's a nice hottub that we barely used because it was super hot outside. The yard is totally fenced (great for the dogs), and the back yard had fruit trees that will be great for a later guest once the fruit is ripe. The houses's location beside the beach path means you can go from front door to water in under two minutes. We spent a lot of time at the beach, and got to know some of the very nice neighbors. All in all, the best vacation house we've rented yet. Rob was super easy to work with, and I highly recommend.

Covid 19 restrictions and stay at home orders caused us to cancel our trip. Keep in mind it would have been against California law for us to travel to or stay at this location during this time. The Wine Stay is refusing to refund any of our money paid including the $1500 damage deposit. Total $7153.57. When offered a stay credit for the same house, the same week 1 year later the cost of the house is suddenly $2600 more to stay at then what is listed on their website currently. The Wine Stay may offer beautiful homes to stay in but they are horrible people who are using Covid 19 to turn a profit. Shameful.

Grandma's house is conveniently located in Monte Rio half way between Occidental and Guernville…read more The large property easily accommodated our group of ten and had great onsite perks: hot tub, games, water todays, canoes/kayaks, inflatable tubes, pool table, movies, grill, washing machine and dryer. Parking is easy and the huge advantage is stepping outside and walking directly onto your own dock or beach on the river. A majority of us had such a great time at the house there was little reason to leave. The dog loved it too. Some of the items inside the house are older and maintain the essence of this historic place. This may not be for everyone, like the taxidermied animals, but we thought it gave it a great 80's/ 90's charm. Would rent the house again if staying in the area with a large group.
