I had Don review a small asphalt project in Cambria. A 12' x 12' fill and asphalt job on our driveway for our house in Cambria. Worked started in March 2025. I noticed a problem with the work and settling of the asphalt starting in May 2026. The asphalt has settled and started cracking. The soil was not properly compacted and has got significantly worse. I reached out to Don after the 4th of July weekend. He came out to take pictures and confirmed the problem. No plan no action to fix the problem. read more

Crooks ! Said it's cheap and easy,went to property but quoted me twice the actual size !!!! Took 4 weeks and dozen calls to get a quote of $19k to asphalt 2,625 sf.... Space is 75' x 35' and quote is $19k. Go elsewhere.I asked the size be recalculated as they measured a good concrete area that was not part of job. They do not return calls.HE HAS NO EXCUSES ! They were prompt and professional from the first call, understood the task, provided a good solution, communicated well and accommodated our scheduling requirements without any problems. We did discover changes that had to be made after demolition but they held to their schedule even with the additions, and were reasonable with an upcharge that did not take advantage. I recently requested a quote from this company their estimator came out and provided information and it did not line up with the other two quotes that I had I called and spoke to the owner and he scheduled a time with both the estimator and me to meet back at the property I cancel the sailing engagement to meet with them on site confirmed it with the office in the morning the estimator shows up at the end he then tells me that the owner is now out sick today and can't meet and could I meet at 2 o'clock on Monday I think it was inconsiderate but I thanked them on the front end for showing me the lack of respect that they have for their customers communication is 100% of the game if you don't have that quality and price mean absolutely nothing I would not recommend this company read more

My experience with Ramsey Asphalt has been excellent. We had them build a chip and seal circular driveway in our front yard and we couldn't be happier. The crew worked quickly clearing trees, moving dirt and working with our landscaper to re-route the irrigation lines. The supervisors, as well as the owner, checked in with us regularly to make sure that the work was consistent with our expectations. The entire job took 3 days with a minimum of disruption. After the work was completed, a supervisor came by to look for any issues and make sure we were satisfied. We were extremely pleased with our entire experience with Ramsey Asphalt, from the time to get the proposal to the scheduling of the job and then to the completion of the job. First Id really like to thank Mr Ramsey for all his hard work. The work he did at my Paso Robles place was great! Everything came out beautiful! Second, I had a really hard time getting along with the superintendent, Michael, on site he did nothing but argue with me the whole time and when he wasn't arguing he was sitting in his truck or playing on his smart phone. He's a very poor superintendent and doesn't contribute anything to the company. I did have a great experience with the Foreman of the crew, Tim. He did exactly what I wanted and explained everything to me before he did it. He is a big part of making the company great! In my opinion he should be the Superintendent because he was actively involved with the client and generally cared about getting the work done right on the first try, he went over and beyond, on what I expected him to do. How often does one find an ASPHALT company to rave about? Well, we sure did. Scott Ramsey and every member of their team that I met was nice, helpful, super hard working and remarkable. They claimed they could finish our 14,000 sq foot driveway in a day, and beat that impossible deadline by a couple hours. Their equipment is new and clean, they didn't take lunch until 3 PM because they didn't want to disrupt the paving phase. Their pricing was extremely fair. We have a long, a bit under 1/4 mile, narrow driveway in ojai that hadn't seen any attention since the 50's (read rocky, dusty, seriously water worn in places and stunningly uneven). it also has a couple of turns that are too tight for modern trucks of any size. it was time. we got several quotes and all were effectively the same. we awarded the job to ramsey and they were wonderful. we had chip seal applied. the job was tough as the driveway is a circle and, because of the corners, the trucks had to do a tremendous amount of backing up down a winding and very narrow road. no one complained, there was no damage, the men worked hard and the finished product - 72 hours in - looks just wonderful. everyone has been extremely responsive and i cannot say enough. what was certain to be a very stressful project turned out to be much less so because of the workers (they were careful), the heavy equipment operators (who clearly knew what they were doing/comfortable with their equipment). i cannot recommend ramsey asphalt enough. very competitive price for good quality product - on time and kept to schedule. read more

Ramsey Asphalt recently (August 2018) chip sealed our driveway in the Santa Ynez Valley. First, let me say that the whole process from meeting with Scott Ramsey (owner) to the completion of the project was highly professional and exceeded our expectations. We have a very large driveway with complicated grades. The Ramsey folks had to do extensive grading before the chip seal to fix areas that my outdoor landscape contractors had left in a mess. The crew did excellent work in a short period of time to keep my costs down. The chip seal process went very smoothly. Scott wasn't entirely happy with the gravel color so they came back at no expense to us to do a special wash on the stones and add extra gravel. My project cost also came in below the bid. That never happens to me and after my very long, arduous and expensive outdoor project that consistently was billed much higher than budget, this last piece -- the driveway -- was a real pleasure.
