Rancho Camulos is a 40-acre National Historic Landmark located within a 1,800-acre working ranch. It's named after the Tataviam Indian village known as Kamulus that was originally located on the site. It's located off highway 126 fwy between Santa Clarita and Fillmore. From 1853 to 1925 it was the home to three generations of the Del Valles family. In 1853 Ygnacio del Valle built the adobe home that still exists today. It's also known as the "Home of Ramona," the location of the 1884 best-selling novel, Ramona, written by Helen Hunt Jackson. The museum is only open for 3 hours on Sunday from 1-4pm. A docent takes you on a one hour tour of the property. You'll get to view the original adobe home, the chapel, the outside of the winery, and the school house. Suggested donations are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.

They set up a dance floor right in a nice green area below a huge tree

Great place to enjoy a wonderful wedding reception. Very green. nice big trees. a Rose garden, beautiful everywhere you look. The staff was very friendly and all the guests seem to have a great time.

Beautiful backdrop for an event, right?!

Beautiful wedding venue! We attended a wedding here last night and it was a lovely, casual but classy, space for a party. While the party (both the wedding and the reception) took place outside - I'm not completely sure if there was an option to rent space inside, as well. In between the ceremony and dinner (which was setup on the same lawn space), the crowd moved over to another area of the ranch to indulge in cocktails, a cheese plate table, and lawn games (a massive jenga game, badminton, croquet, and corn hole- which I'm guessing was provided by the venue- but again, no confirmation). I would encourage couples who are looking for reception space, or others who are looking to host an "al fresco" party, to consider this venue! We had a great time and the photos turned out beautifully (very pretty background). Pros: large space (can accommodate large parties), beautiful atmosphere. Cons: not necessarily close to a specific town or hotel for wedding guests (guessing a shuttle could be available to transport guests to Filmore or Santa Clarita). Bathrooms were like not what you call "luxurious" (simple and clean, however - like what you would find in a public park - but with better mirrors to effectively aid in "make up touch up" for the ladies!)

    Beautiful grounds, well maintained.

Parking is unique and is along the middle of the street as well as the sidewalks. It's great to come here every few times a year and see new and fresh exhibits. We always come back because of that! The place is well-taken care of with friendly staff and a lot of side events go on as well! Make sure to research if they are open and ensure they are not in the middle of constructing/preparing new exhibits. Always feels good to appreciate the local arts!

It has a generic institutional look so typical since the last fourth of the 20th century.  So much clear glass must trap huge amounts of heat from rays of the intense summer sun which must mean much pollution creatIng energy has to be expended to cool its interior. Not exactly a building meeting zero emission standards in the new age of global warming.  January - April 2022: Exhibition of Works by Marc Steven Greenfield is a must-see. It addresses in a very deft way racism as witnessed and experienced by a Black Man in America in a new, sophisticated, novel light. He raises questions about race, equality, inequality, retribution, and possible reconciliation. His mastery in many different styles proves that he is a meister artist capable of manipulating the media into thought provoking questions often done by confronting and "owning" negative, insulting stereotypes of Blacks on canvas.   In another method, he places Blacks in the style of Catholic icons of the Virgin & Baby Jesus and the Pietà where Virgin Mary cradles the dead Jesus. In the background there are scenes of racist Nazi's receiving just retribution for their horrendous acts against humanity.  There is even an iconic portrait of Yasukè (yah soo keh), who was a Sub-Saharan Black African, who served as a high ranking Samurai in 16th century Japan during the Warring States period, in high Japanese military regalia.    Marc Steven Greenfield is well informed about history, culture, religion, politics, race and synthesizes a powerful brew that if we drink it, it gives us food for thought....Why are we so hung up on the color of our skin?  It's another indictment that we humans are the strangest of all animals.  Be sure to see Mr. Greenfield's interview in the small side projection room. The second floor is dedicated to "What would you say?",  Activist Graphics from LACMA: It's a melange of graphics by various artists depicting Disco Singer Sylvester as Gay or even alluding at a Trans Woman. Black Man in white Ku Klux Klan dress is tongue in cheek, sarcastic humour ridiculing white supremacy.  Series of repeating prints of a woman with the title of "I will not be Assimilated." as though she is threatened by the Borg which, in fact, is our own conformist society.  Esoteric reference to Royal Crown Hair Dressing and showing a woman wearing a dress decorated with a woman showing a big butt seems humourous in line with rap songs idolizing ample derrière.  Another great thing about MOAH is that it's free. You only need to give out your resident zip code. Great way to spend an afternoon creating new, cerebral, synaptic connections.  There are two other associated museums nearby:  Western Hotel Museum and Cedar Center for the Arts Museum. Times and dates vary so be sure to call.

Every exhibit actually keeps them engaged not just looking, but doing. The interactive tables (like the spinning drum and dice games) were a hit. My kids didn't want to leave and kept going back to the same stations. It's also really clean, organized, and easy to navigate even with little ones. Pricing was reasonable for what you get abbout $25 for adults, $20 for kids, and under 2 is free, which is nice. Staff was friendly and everything felt well-maintained. You can tell they designed this place with kids in mind but adults still have fun too. Definitely a solid family day trip spot from LA. Would come back again

I figured out it was the Moxi. I guess it make quite the impression on her last year. The museum had some new exhibits this time around. They added a fun ball launcher that I also enjoyed as well. The water exhibit could use some love. Some of the hydraulic levers was either not working or you had to really work at it. My toddler was not strong enough to use them. One thing I like is that we were able to leave and come back after lunch. We got to make the most if our trip. I'm sure we'll ge back next year.

I helped do the silent auction where there was several different pieces that were auctioned off during the event. The staff did a phenomenal job. It was $190 per person for the meal and it was all catered and cooked by the staff here at the location portable bars were set up throughout the venue. So I just want to thank the staff for doing a great job in coordinating and supporting and doing this event for the boys and girls having allowing them to hold their event here. The main dish was a top sirloin, steak, salmon, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and of course, a garden salad and two different types of desserts. One was a strawberry cake parfait.
