This nonprofit accepts fresh flower and used vase donations, then creates pretty bouquets that they deliver to people in healthcare facilities. They're making peoples' days all around the city and I think it's such a rad mission. If you have a wedding or big event, you should definitely donate your florals to RAOF instead of tossing them afterwards so they can continue to spread joy. If you don't have flowers or vases to donate, you can volunteer to make the bouquets or create an event for your office or friend group to craft bouquets while you chat. Random Acts of Flowers(RAF) is an amazing non-profit started by a guy named Larson who saw a need and immediately took action. This random act of kindness turned into Random Acts of Flowers... This organization has since grown to have locations not only in Indianapolis but also in the Knoxville and Tampa Bay areas. Over the years they've aided in the improved well-being of over 481,000 bouquet recipients nationwide!! This.is.AmAzInG!! Yesterday, through work, I had the opportunity to help create bouquets to be delivered at Eskenazi Health. Our goal was 125 bouquets, we surpass our goal and I couldn't be more thrilled! Feeling extremely blessed to have been apart of something that makes such a positive impact! Being a nonprofit they rely heavily on donations. Please up cycle your extra vases and unneeded floral arrangements. Together we can make a huge impact on someone recovering! read more

I had no idea this place was a thing until tonight and I'm glad I know its here in Indy because I really want to go back! You can find it located off of 54th and college across from the gallery pastry shop, this is a nonprofit that services a number of local healthcare facilities with different floral arrangements. The idea is that it helps patients with their moods and their path to wellness a little easier It is a three-person operation and has 400 plus volunteers who make different arrangements to be sent out in the city! Very welcoming group of people and the step up is very organized, the flowers are grouped by type as well as the vases. This concept is simple, but could truly brighten someone's day, especially if they don't have a support system to offer care during a trying time. I'm alllll about random acts of kindness, especially in the world that we live in today. A small act of kindness and gesture of gratitude/love goes a long way. RAoF goes right along with this. Similar to Indy Acts of Kindness, they're all about spreading the love to those in need...through flowers! And what makes them even better is that they upcycle the flowers that they use! From local florists, grocery stores, weddings, special events, and more... you name it, they're probably working with them to pick up their flowers that weren't sold or taken home or used and bringing them back to life and giving to those in need at hospitals, nursing homes, and more. The staff are incredible and full of passion for their mission - something that's needed in the nonprofit world. They're looking for volunteers to help bring the bouquets to life! (Each bouquet they give out is valued around $50-$60!) They're also looking for flowers and also vases. So if you have lots of vases lying around (i know I do), I know where to take them from here on out. Can't wait to see more of RAoF and hear more about them in the future! read more

This is such a great non profit organization. With the help of volunteers and donations from local florists they are able to give flowers to those in healthcare facilities. It's little acts like these that may lift an individual's spirit and possibly put them on a faster track to healing. RAOF takes donations of vases and flowers(wedding, memorial service, church function...etc). They even have a pickup service for flower arrangements from such events. You can drop off vases at their location. Volunteers help recycle the flowers into beautiful arrangements to be distributed throughout the city. Great things going on here. read more

So excited that Yelp introduced me to this incredible organization during a recent Yelp event! In a nutshell, Random Acts of Flowers takes leftover flowers from weddings, funerals, grocery stores, floral wholesalers, etc and repurposes them, stripping the arrangements and rebuilding them to send out to local hospitals and patients. They have a large network of givers and receivers of flowers and it's amazing the work they do on a weekly basis in central Indiana! Volunteers can pick up or deliver flowers on behalf of RAoF or volunteer in the shop, disassembling and reassembling flower arrangements. Very easy to do and a great way to give back! I plan to learn more about ways to volunteer because this place is so awesome. read more

I LOVE not wasting and pure recycling... and the fact that these flowers are being used to improve emotional health and well being in health care facilities and sharing personal acts of kindness all over our city!!! I cannot tell you how many times they have touched our lives! We moved my mom in with us when she became unable to care for herself. Alzheimer's, Emphysema and other ailments took mom's independence and some days made us all feel we couldn't go on. Many of those days we spent in hospitals and when the days were the gloomiest, Random Act showed up with beautiful flowers for mama!!!! The beautiful flowers we have received over the years have came in a variety of vases which most I have saved or passed on! Mom loved a special antique ball jar they gave her as a vase on one particular visit. I still use it and think of my beautiful mama and Random Acts of Kindness when I see it. In a world where you can be anything, always be kind! Thank you for making even our darkest days a little brighter and reminding us God is still there when it feels like He isn't!!!!
