When I found a pair of cute shorts and asked to try them on she said she'd have to "measure me first." I politely declined, assuming it was an optional service, to which she further informed me, it was not. Then things got weird. Because the shorts were cute (and cheap), I begrudgingly let her measure my waist. To which she said "ohh, they're too small," and put them back on the rack (they were actually my size) When I said I'd like to try them anyway, she smugly told me I could purchase them, but I still wasn't allowed to try them on. It was hands down the weirdest, most invasive, and humiliating shopping experience I've had. And it explains why the store is bursting at the seams with clothing. I doubt anyone actually buys anything after being treated like that. If you enjoy unsolicited body commentary and being size-policed over $20 vintage shorts, this place is for you. Otherwise, run. And a tip for the owner: If you want to run a 'by fitting only' boutique, then run a proper by-appointment fitting room where you pull sizes for people instead of wasting their time and humiliating them. Vintage isn't supposed to come with a side of shame.

They talked us into re-dying the furniture because of the condition they were in. What a HUGE mistake. I should have stuck by my guns and just done the cleaning and conditioning. First off, they didn't dye the entire sofa, chair, and ottoman. On the sofa, they dyed the 2 arm rests and 3 seat cushions. They did not dye the 3 back cushions or the frame. On the chair, they dyed the 2 arm rests, the seat cushion and the back cushion. They didn't dye the frame. The ottoman wasn't dyed at all. The dye was similar in color to the original but there was a definite difference, which I guess should be expected. But to not dye the entirety of the set was a mistake. I've had mismatched furniture ever since. Another reviewer mentioned a "plastic" look to the dye. I can say this is absolutely true. It doesn't look like leather anymore but instead looks fake. The repaired rips are still holding strong but apparently whatever chemicals they used on the furniture, whether it be the cleaner, conditioner, or dye, is now eating away at my leather and there are rips and holes in places there weren't before. My sofa is completely ruined and looks like crap now. I'm either going to have to look into having the leather completely replaced or throw it out and get new furniture, neither of which will be cheap. I'm glad other reviewers have had good experiences but I honestly cannot say my results were anything other than disastrous.

Our experience there did not inspire trust in their customer service attitude…read more Several years ago I gave my sister a Citizen Eco Drive solar powered watch with a 5-year warranty purchased from a reputable dealer in our area. When it stopped working last year, she took it to Montague's in Billings and they sent it to Citizen for repair. Finally she was told that Citizen had reported it couldn't be fixed because the parts were unavailable. Then the manager sold her a new watch (unfortunately she told them the maximum she could pay--$120--first) for that exact amount and said it was half price. It was a very plain, traditional, battery powered watch and she didn't get any paperwork or warranty on it. It was a brand we don't recognize and for which we can find no information online. He only told her he would give her new batteries for life--but hey, she's in her mid-eighties now! While we were visiting her in Billings last month, we went to Montague's and asked for her Citizen watch back so I could take it to my original vendor's watchmaker, who keeps older parts and might still be able to fix it. The Montague's manager told us he had thrown it away because it couldn't be fixed. My sister had not been asked for her permission to do this, so I was upset and complained. From the get-go we thought the manager acted defensive and arrogant, and never apologized for throwing away a customer's property without permission. And we still have unanswered questions about the watch he sold her. I can only hope there are other employees in this long-standing Billings business who show more respect for legitimate customer complaints.
