Each summer, heat…read moregot trapped in the roof and attic, making the upper floors impossible to cool down even with two constantly running whole house a/c units. I called several insulation companies last winter and Koala was by far the most responsive. Koala added a significant amount of new insulation to the attic floor (stopping the conditioned air from being pulled into it), a very strong solar powered attic roof vent with a thermostat, and also insulated our attic access panel. We were able to tell the difference this year as soon as the outdoor temp started to rise. Today it's 90 degrees outside and the 2nd floor - where we sleep - is at least 5 degrees cooler than it was last summer with the same outdoor temperature. The Koala sales rep was informative without being pushy or trying to oversell, the installers showed up on time and were both hard working and friendly, and the price was very fair. We even qualify for a federal tax credit! Although I haven't yet received a summer electric bill, I think we'll recover the cost fairly quickly. Even without any utility savings, it was well worth the price. Highly recommend!

I had a few questions and asked for the name of the customer down the street so I could ask my neighbor about their experience. I never got that info. I also never got an updated quote despite my repeated requests. Their initial quote was amongst the least expensive but I was requesting more work be added and they never responded! I don't want to id the estimator by name, but I will say that I'm disappointed in their lack of response.

In the attic they did less than half what they quoted. They did not do the doors or windows at all. And the carpenters put up trim boards over the uninsulated doors & windows. When I noticed there was no insulation I called their office several times. The girl that answers phone states that she has given him the messages. He will not return calls. Later I have to take all the trim boards off doors and windows and insulate. This was a terrible job and cost additional expense and a lot of time. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They will rip you off. Give you a quote for 20 inches of insulation in attic and only put in 5 inches hoping you will not notice. But charge you for 20 inches. I wish I could give them less than one star.

Hackenwerth was the drywall and insulation contractor that our general contractor hired. New…read moreconstruction. We paid quite a bit extra to have our garage taped and made into a finished product. Our opinion was that it would be same quality as what we expected in the house. They worked in a timely manner and even worked on the weekend to get the job done. When we wanted some bad tape spots fixed, they came back. This was 2 times. So, they do show up and they get the job done quick. Problems- the job looks like it was done quick. I can see tape seams all over in the garage. Also, multiple cracks. Inside the house, corners look really rushed. Where a corner should be square, it's dented in at the part that should be straight. The edges of inside corners appear wavy. Some inside corners have what look like tiny plaster balls. For a brand new custom home that cost over $250,000, I would expect much better. I personally would never hire them again, nor would I let my contractor hire them. I would take my chances with anyone else and try doing some research. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because of the quickness they got done to keep the house on a schedule. Hindsight, I would of rather let the house fall a couple weeks behind schedule. I won't be having them come back to fix their mistakes, if they couldn't do it right on the first 3 tries I don't see another time making a difference.
