The chef gave a taste of a small mustard portion that he just created right there on the spot until we were waiting for the main course. And the main course....! Heavenly! Really! We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, prepared in the traditional Viennese style, and it was amazing! The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with their potato salad, which was also really good. We also tried the Tafelspitz, served with a flavorful beef broth and vegetables. It was hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor. Their house beer on tap was refreshing and went perfectly with the meal. But the real showstopper was dessert--the famous Kaiserschmarrn with apricot. These fluffy, shredded pancakes were absolutely divine, and the apricot added just the right amount of sweetness. Easily one of the highlights of the meal! Service was impeccable, and everything tasted fresh. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially because this is a small restaurant and it clearly has a strong following among locals. After having been on the road for several weeks already and not always eating the best food throughout the day, I decided to treat myself to a vegetable-forward dinner. A quick internet research led me to this place and I made a reservation for one. I wasn't disappointed at all. In fact, this was the best meals I've had in a long time. What I loved most about this place is how they structured their menu: vegan and vegetarian dishes first and then - almost as an afterthought- come the meat dishes. Well done! But it was a Sunday evening and all was closed, quite, silent. Therefore, we decided try that famous Knoll place, which is usually pretty busy ... and a bit posh. Great soups (a Fish Soup with safran, a Goose Soup with liver dumplings), Roasted Pork with Dumplings, a delicious Tafelspitz, and Plum Dumplings, hmm.
