You can google "Ratepa kennel puppy mill" and you'll find them listed on multiple reputable websites as a puppy mill. According to one of those pages she had 74 adult dogs and 78 puppies at time of the inspection in 2023. With that said, the puppies are absolutely under socialized. I went to view two 12 week old mini Aussies and also met a 16 week old pup. All three were fearful and took a lot of convincing to approach us. I ended up picking the one who wouldn't approach us at all as I knew she would need a lot of extra work put into her to become a well adjusted adult dog. I've had her for a month now and she still will not willingly approach us when called nor accept pets or attention unless she is tired. And if she doesnt know you at all good luck touching her. She is getting better but the process is slow and she's overall an easy puppy but the fear of people is a huge problem for her. I do NOT think she was abused in any way. She just was not socialized or handled enough. While yes some of her fear could just be some genetically predisposed fearfulness, I think the main factor was the lack of handling at an early age. The women I met were both older, the dogs that I could see were clean and looked like they'd been groomed. They vaccinate, deworm and microchip the puppies (they seemingly do all of this themselves so they do not actually see the vet). The loose dogs were friendly and the dogs in the kennels were all quiet while we were viewing them. I do not think these are horrible people. They just have too many dogs to provide adequate care for. read more

I have wanted a Chihuahua for years! The right time finally came and I had searched and searched for months as I knew exactly the dog I wanted. I was so happy I found Ratepa Kennels and Theresa. Agreeing to a dog you've never met or seen in person can be a terrifying thought but I took a leap of faith and I'm so glad I did. We paid our deposit to hold her, then paid the balance before they flew our puppy out. They sent our little chihuahua puppy all the way from Missouri to California safely and we picked her up at the airport. Our puppy is happy, healthy and just perfect for our family. We couldn't be happier that we trusted Ratepa Kennels for our newest family member. Very thankful for Theresa and her family in breeding and raising a wonderful puppy for us, we're forever grateful. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. this is a puppy mill and they have been reported multiple times. Just do a simple google search to see the terrible living conditions these puppies live in. Do not buy from here. We got a puppy that died in 4 days from Parvo and also had a genetic defect. It was a horrible experience and we are devastated. Next time we need to do better research. We would have seen the reports and known that this was a terrible place. I feel terrible for these poor dogs. read more

The puppy I received from here came riddled with parasites to which I am still treating her for currently. I am glad I got her out of that environment because even the cage they took her out of ( with three other dogs) looked filthy and the dogs looked sick. There was a small refund given but it seems that this happens quite frequently because on her Venmo history she has given refunds to numerous customers as well. This does not justify for the state of these dogs. There was other red flags as well and some of the paperwork she came with didn't seem legit and I still don't have one of the papers she said she would mail to me. I love the dog I got and am glad she is with me now so I can properly take care of her and give her the the life she deserves. The lady seemed more interested in the money then the dog and never asked me questions about where she would be going and if she would be taken care of. Overall disappointed and would not recommend to anyone. These dogs deserve better ! read more

*Beware*****dont buy a puppy from this place!!! on june 19 of this year i picked up my puppy,prior wks before i put up a $150.00 deposit $600 dollars total.yes i sighn a contract on delivery saying she (the puppy pomchi/mix ) is uptoo date on all shots(vet records)etc. .there r a three day window,if puppy die ,my money would be fully refunded....well i puppy nearly died a week later! the day after a picked her up,i notice my puppy(pebbles) had a cough got worst every day after.a few days later shy started showing diarrhea & throwing up and was sleeping alot!To make a long story short,on saturday she could not stand up on her own,so at that point i took her the emergency doggy hostpital.pebbles was diagnosed with coccidiosis and pneumonia,she survived the ordeal!thank god.the bill was over a thousand dollars and the next day i text the owner terisa the one who sold her to me,would not help out with any of my expenses....and one other thing i noticed in the living room of her house wer she runs her kennel out of,smell like dog shit and i notice she had a little doggy or puppy running around and was eating what looked like a day old slice of pizza!...what the hell,i thought you wasnt post to feed puppies human food?but anyway you get my point.i decided to take a lawsuit action against ratepa kennels. read more
