I can't remember ever cutting through a ribeye that tough. The steak was chewy like rubber but the rosemary butter and cognac green pepper sauce were good. The Caesar Salad and Parmesan fries were also good. The server didn't check on us much and it took a while to be able to request the bill and check out. Both the quality of the meat and the service could have been better. I typically don't mention price in my reviews but in this case I paid a premium but did not get premium food or service in return. 2.5 stars!

For food, I had the schnitzel, which was solid -- evidenced by my cleaned plate. Finished with a Stella for liquid dessert. If your beer tastes favor Central Europe and/or you're looking for a quiet, classier place to wine and dine, I highly recommend Tuulensuu. The staff were also friendly and knowledgeable. The dining and bar area on the second floor definitely has a rustic pub feeling that fits the unassuming facade. The place wasn't crowded, and we easily found a table and placed an order. The beer selection is rather limited -- Foster's seems to be the norm, and Krušovice Cerne for the dark beer. I had one of each throughout the meal. I ordered 20 wings with medium spice, and we shared an order of fries. Perhaps it's because I'm used to mutant chickens in the USA, but I was disappointed that the wings were quite small. They were accompanied by the usual suspects -- blue cheese dipping sauce, celery, carrots. I will say the sauce was quite tasty, but "medium" is very medium in this case -- don't fear the spice here. I'm glad I visited SiipiWeikot, but for me it didn't really live up to the hype -- feels like an average wings place. Worth a visit, but next time I'll branch out and see what else Tampere wings joints have to offer.

I liked that although it was Italian-style pizza, there were diverse offerings of toppings more preferred with American pizza. I ordered a BBQ cheeseburger pizza with BBQ sauce topping, ground beef, bacon and cheddar cheese. I also ordered a pasta with pesto sauce, fettuccini noodles, Kalamata olives, buffalo mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The pasta was very good and the pizza was OK. A small salad bar was included. You can get pizzas like #100, the Finlandia, which has venison and Finlandia vodka, but if you want to start simply, try #1 - the Margherita. (And I'm not afraid to eat mine NY style, which means pick it up and fold it in half, and then tell everybody how awesome you are for eating it the "right" way). On my last visit I ordered #6 - the Calzone, which listed ingredients simply "cheese, ham". I misinterpreted this to mean I was going to get served a pie with extra cheese and ham toppings, since I thought the title was simply a name that they gave it, like Quattro Stagione or Frutti di Mare. But no - it's an actual calzone (and good too). If you don't speak Finnish and get the Finnish menu, just ask for the English one. Get a house red wine. When finished, pay for your meal up front and drop some money into the tip jar.

Their menu offers lots of amazing choices, I tried the smoked reindeer soup for a starter, which was very rich and smooth and went really well with the cranberry puree it's topped with. For my main I chose the Sausage Pan Of Alf Leatherpants, which comes with succulent lamb sausages, very rich game sausage, the most delicious cheese potatoes, beetroot and lots of caramelized onion. It was a rich, earthy dish with a lot of great flavours, perfect for a cold winter night! For dessert I treated myself to Iona's Liquorice Mousse, which consisted of a fine, delicate liquorice mousse, raspberry and liquorice sorbet, liquorice meringue and a light raspberry syrup. This sounded like it might be a little too much, especially as I'm not a huge fan of liquorice, but I felt drawn to it and had to give it a go. Turns out it is nowhere near as overwhelming as I suspected it might be, the flavours are delicate and light, the textures compliment each other really well, and the raspberry lightens up the dish to give it a sweet and tart undertone.
