We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it. The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year. We're hoping to make another trip out to Thompsons later this summer.

I then went to pay at till, a rather large woman, long black floor length skirt, bleached hair carried on putting out items around the tills, completely ignoring me, when she did serve me she never even looked at me throughout the whole transaction, the only good thing was that she said please and thankyou. They stopped making sandwiches to order, we and others regulars miss these. The staff have always looked like they hate being there and resent customers for having the affront to want serving either cakes and food! We won't bother going there anymore, only for gardening stuff of which there is an endless choice. They certainly need some customer service skills teaching them, we are not something you tread in when you take your dog out!

Alll the onew I've bought have thrived and grown a lot better than the DIY shop ones. nice cafe too. From November on they have an amazing selection of christmas decorations on display. My children love to go and see them, it's a real winter wonderland and they vary in price. After Christmas they discount them hugely, but you have to be quick as they sell really, really fast. They also sell lots of different gifts for the gardener in you life.

They have a massive selection of ornamental and fruit trees as well as roses. They also sell all the usual bedding plants, beautiful hanging baskets, pots, compost, garden ornaments and tools for the garden. Apparently a lot of their shrubs and plants are grown at Abercorn. I was told this by a member of staff who was most helpful and friendly and gave me tips about my soil and what I could and could not grow. There is a play area for children so they can enjoy themselves while you are free to look around.
