We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it. The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year. We're hoping to make another trip out to Thompsons later this summer.

The shop area houses a large range of garden furniture, water features, books and gifts as well as a large range of house plants including orchids and some exotic species. There are also many types of garden compost and accessories including paving and stoneware for garden landscaping. Overall a very pleasant place to browse for your gardening needs.

My children love to go and see them, it's a real winter wonderland and they vary in price. After Christmas they discount them hugely, but you have to be quick as they sell really, really fast. They also sell lots of different gifts for the gardener in you life.

Next is the gift department this is very well stocked by someone with a great eye I do not know of a better set out gift department in any garden centre. There is also a great selection of greeting cards. Outside as you might expect are the plants these are also well arranged with the current seasonal plants first then the herbs then the normal plants alphabetically. Golly gosh, the gold finch birds turned up the next day along with magpies. The plants are expensive but the quality is very good. The staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. I love the planters. There is something for everyone here. It is a great place for getting that special present. I like niknaks and this place fascinates me.

Reindeer are herd animals that migrate through extensive areas. It was a bit sad to see them. Anyway, the rest of the place is very cool. They have a massive selection of ornamental and fruit trees as well as roses. They also sell all the usual bedding plants, beautiful hanging baskets, pots, compost, garden ornaments and tools for the garden. Apparently a lot of their shrubs and plants are grown at Abercorn. I was told this by a member of staff who was most helpful and friendly and gave me tips about my soil and what I could and could not grow. There is a play area for children so they can enjoy themselves while you are free to look around.
