Rays. Its actually pretty good. The pizza is reasonable in that its not going to bust the bank for a slice of pizza, sweet potato fries and a water to brush the guilt off my collarbone for the pizza and the sweet potato fries. Oh sweet potato fries are healthy I hear you say? Well im pretty sure anything that is fried can get lodged in your arteries overtime like a chunky child clogging up the giant snake slide in the fun factory? (Anyone born in 1985 will know what im talkin bout!) Still they are rather tasty, I have only had the pepperoni pizza. I would have liked a bigger slice if im honest. Like the ones they do in Di Fontaine's down the road that could put an end to world hunger and Bob Geldofs tasteless christmas single efforts. Maybe thats the inner chunky child trying to escape from inside me! The counter is pretty high here aswell. Probably to stop young ones called Nikita who think they are a castmember from Sex and the City pulling a Sarah Jessica Parkour on a saturday night and shaking their shimmy across the top of the glass top display... If pizza isn't the single greatest type of foodstuff ever invented, I'd love to know what is. Ray's is a great example of how good pizza can be even at its most basic. There's nothing more exciting here than a few sun-dried tomatoes (fun fact: before Lidl and Aldi washed up on our shores, only three Irish people had ever eaten a sun-dried tomato). At Ray's, basic is brilliant. Just some cheese of a questionable origin, nice thin crust and low price. Plus it's in a good location to crash out and recharge your batteries before heading back out into the big bad world. As I got to work on my slice, I couldn't help watch the goings-on at the Occupy Dame Street camp. It felt like a bit of a Marie Antoinette moment, not that they seem like the angry mob sort. read more

I've been walking past this "joint" for a couple of months and always wanted to try it. Now, don't ask me what it was that attracted me, it definitely isn't the most visible or stylish restaurant you'll ever come across, but then again that's not what it's targeted at. Its proximity to Trinity naturally results in lots of students (at least while I was there) and I assume that Temple Bar also helps with the walk-ins. Anyway, what you'll get is a straight forward pizza fast food place with friendly stuff and delicious pizza. The pizza comes in slices and you can have it as a menu as well. I chose the Cajun chicken with extra Cajun sauce and a drink for 6 EUR. The ONE thing that I loved was the thin crunchy base, laiden with nice toppings. In this country - no offence - you just can't find thin crunchy pizza like they serve in Italy. At least all the main delivery services only have the thick, greasy, doughy base. Ray's is different. When I folded the pizza to dip it in the sauce I it cracked half way, loved it. All in all it was great pizza, big enough portion and I would love to come back after a night out, when you crave the carbs! I'll be back for sure read more

This place on the edge of Temple Bar is in a great location to catch people on their way out of clubs and bars. It's open quite late, which I think makes it popular. It's a place with slices as well! You can get a combo with fries and a slice and (if I remember correctly) a drink. The pizza isn't the greatest or the cheapest. I'd honestly prefer DiFontaine's or Apache. The interior is very simple. The server is gruff but efficient. I think its main selling point is either location or hours. read more

Ray's is a little slice of heaven, no pun intended. And to be honest their slices are far from little too! Located in the heart of the city in Temple Bar, Ray's is the perfect place to grab yourself a quick snack after a busy day of shopping or after a few (or 10) pints. The space is a little small but they've managed to pack it full of seats. It's not really about the dining experience though so it doesn't matter. Some of the seats look out onto the street so it's perfect for people watching. The slices of pizza are huge and average around €2/3. You can buy full pizzas too - I'd recommend the 23" wagon wheel. It's outrageously big, very reasonbly priced and you'll have yourself fed for days. I literally couldn't get it through my front door holding it flat. It's a beast! read more

Ray's Pizza is known to anybody who is out late at night around Dublin and looking for a bite to eat after a few drinks. And that's the thing, I'm not just going to dish out some easy stars here for a place that is just open late, its obliviously a big plus to have but nearly everything tastes better after a few cheeky drinks out. The real test is hitting up this pizza place without a few drinks, which I've done on two occasions, both with the same results and those results would be a very bland slice. There just seems to be a major lack of flavour, and one major thing missing for me which makes a great slice and that has to be a good sauce base. After living in NY for a good 6 months a few years back, this doesn't even come close to hitting the mark in terms of a good New York style slice its a major swing and a miss... actually its more of a foul ball in terms of pizza. read more

Since the Price jump circa 2016, quality has annoyingly decreased. Its great for Start ups to employ new Pizza Cooks. However experience may be needed first? I still enjoy dropping in for a Slice, but I choose wisely at what time and what Cook I have. I still recommend Rays to Anyone with No Cash to grab something different than MiccyD's. read more

Ray's Pizza is a good location to stop at after a good night of drinking at the pub. The food is moderately priced and has plenty of varieties of toppings. The location is very conveniently placed in Temple Bar where most tourist attractions are located in central Dublin. However, the inside is very narrow and spaces fill up quite fast during the late evening, so if you do not like crowded areas, this is not for you. The music sets the nightlife ambiance and complements the pizzeria quite well. read more

Rubbery cheese; too sweet, pasty marinara; and, as anyone who's eaten a slice in the city knows, way too pricey for a wedge so small, you'd be hard-pressed to fold it and go, a la Tony Manero. Good Pizza, Not the Best Service Rays has great pizza by the slice, and I would give it four in a half stars for taste. However, it is the service that makes this pizzeria get the only decent review. We went in there and ordered three pizzas (a large, a small, and a medium.) I was surprised when the man working there said that it would be only fifteen minutes. So, we left, and came back about twenty minutes later, when we saw that the man hadn't finished one of our pizzas. So, we had to wait, and watch him finish our other two pizzas, and we noticed that it only takes about five minutes to make each pizza, and so it should've already been finished by the time we got there. Bottom line, if you want some good pizza, and can wait for a little bit for it, then this is a good place for you. read more
